Image / Video Two minute apart from each other

Post image

This is just wild. PlayStation wanted to end their partnership with Hideo Kojima. So Xbox was like: "Your loss."

This year is really starting to feel like an inverse of 2014 when Xbox ruined their public image with some insane Always Online DRM requirements and PlayStation capitalized on that.

Sony is speed running losing all the good will they built during the PS4 era.

It’s such a shame

I think it’s more to do with money, the live service stuff has been a disaster with no return on either the horizon one or the sci fi one that was dead after like a week, death stranding 2 also had lower than expected sales.

Microsoft has all that cash to develop projects on the other hand.

Then again it has shown twice now, that as soon as Sony becomes comfortable on top, they fuck it up.

Happened with the ps3 and now the ps5.

This is why competition is good and exactly why everyone should stop wishing for Xbox to die.

They fucked up the ps3 and ps5? PS3 and ps5 sold more than their Xbox counterparts. I’m not here to defend Sony but that was an odd statement…

PS3 struggled for years with lower sales and games. PS3 I remember always had the worst version of multiplatform games because it was so hard to dev for. It was only towards the end of the gen that Sony pulled things together and started getting out good exclusives etc. plus considering the amount Sony sold on thr ps2, to practically come neck and neck almost with Xbox is a bit of a hit.

Ps5 I see as not as great a console purely because exclusives have not been nearly as good or creative as the ps4. Including all the constant controversy they seem to now have themselves in with the disk issues.

The PS3 launched; Catastrophically.

unusual developement had sony BEGGING third parties to develope on their hardware

They didnt really kick off until the PS3 started being 'extremely consumer friendly.' (which did inevitably result in the PS4 hype-train.)

With the PS4 catastrophically damaging the Xbox; as a competitor because of how bad microsoft was during the XBOX-1 Era. (The PS4 won the console war.)

The PS5 console has "No real reason to buy it."

Their exclusives had went to PC (Because herman Hulst.) goven to them a YEAR after release on the PS5 (All hype and interest was gone.)

They have almost exclusively made 'LIVE SERVICE GAMES' this console Generation (PS5) Most of which didnt even get released. Or they catastrophically failed.

Definitively; There is no real reason, to buy a PS5. Especially not right now; since its almost at its end of life stage. with how the PS6 is just around the corner (IF you even want to support them. because of how catastrophic sony has been acting this past year, alone.)

There are no amazing standout titles that are exclusive to playstation 5. Sony has decided to seek after live service; instead of progressive profit. (Like Capcom.)

Sony has obliterated its IP's leaving desperately needed/wanted ones at least 5-7 years out; with the way they got rid of all of the talent that could have sped up the process.

the PS3 era had it rough; but they managed to turn it around last minute.

The PS5 era is deconstructing almost 30 years worth of trust, in a single month.

With the most recent fumble being; Kojima.

Keep this in mind; "Death stranding was supposed to be a weird little 'He wants to do this and a sequel, because he's burnt out on Action-stealth games (His treatment by Konami was… Bad.) lets do this. So that he will want to make a stealth action game; Physint.'"

He starts to make the stealth action game, sony originally wanted him for: "Oh Death stranding 2 didnt meet our expectations.... We're cutting ties." JUST AS HE STARTS TO DO THE THING THEY WANTED HIM ON THEIR SIDE, FOR.

Perhaps.... it is because Kojima is a physical media nerd, and is against sony's decision. (Which is the most likely reason why they want to let him go; despite him consistently and repeatedly mentioning his love for cinema. And repeatedly saying even in the past, that he likes physical media. BEFORE sony had any thought of erasing it. Which goes back DECADES.)

To say that is a "EVERYBODY is confused" move; is an understatement. LITERALLY everybody who knows; is beyond confused, flabbergasted, and are jawdroppingly... stunned in bewilderment.

Everybody i've seen that likes to report gaming news had to take a moment to register what they said. (Despite writing the scripts they made.) and Most didnt have anything to say other than "Is sony Serious." (Then repeat the 'The wanted him for the stealth action games.' But he was burnt out and wanted to pursue death stranding, as a break. (Like when he made Snatchers for Konami. instead of metal gear 2)

Its just.... "Sony has lost their minds." bad, this generation.

AND are setting the PS6 up for extreme failure. At launch. They are even aware of this and have thought about delaying it because of their concerns.

Not to mention that they know their customers are extremely price sensitive; and may launch the PS6 at Double the usual price. But thats not contributing to their concerns as much as the pushback for 'every other decision they've made since June, 2026.'
