Guess we won't be getting any new classics like this then.

This is why dying in Dragon's Lair never felt that bad because the failures were hilarious.

Speak for yourself. I hated that game. Especially in arcades

Fifty cents really meant something in an arcade back then, too. Fuck Dragon's Lair.

I can't remember the game but it used to be an absolute nightmare and was so difficult, we were putting so much money in and getting no where. Then the guy who collected the coins turned up and had a key that could control how many continues you had. He just blasted this game for 30 minutes and showed us all the secrets and tricks to do well. Then put it on 99 credits and went "have fun" before leaving. Absolute legend.

Fifty cents still feels like it's too much for a single play

Even at the local barcade, where Dragon's Lair is on freeplay, I can't really stand to play it past a dozen or so scenes in (and at least twice as many deaths). It just becomes a fast-paced memory game to win. Playing it without any foresight of what's to come is basically impossible and makes it not very fun as a game for me.

But oh, I do love the animations. They're sooo good. Maybe one day I'll luck out and catch a master on it and finally see the whole thing.
