Image / Video Fluid & Satisfying combat in Control Resonant

FOV is at 65 instead of default 100 to make it more cinematic, but it makes the game harder (harder to have enemy-awareness, hard to do very quick traversal movement etc). i still do think you should play at like 80 FOV or something compared to 100

People keep saying the combat is the weakest part of the game and they may be right but it's because every aspect of this game is damn near perfect not because the combat is bad

Hitting things with a stick feels good and it's kept me entertained for the 20 or so hours I've gotten out of it so far (haven't finished the story but it's been great so far)

Yeah I'm about 20 hours in as well and just found a combo of abilities and weapons I like and somehow it's even better than before

I've been mostly running Glaive and Hammer but I recently switched my secondary to the Whip and that thing feels awesome once you get the timing down.

Started with glaive hammer, went to glaive whip, but I decided I wanted to try strike out and holy shit I might be converted.

Strike for the fast paced crits, ship for a little AOE, fists (cant remember the name atm) for more stun is a fantastic combo.

Haha I did the exact opposite went from glaive whip to glaive hammer

I went from sword hammer to cleave hammer to cleave drill to glaive drill even the whip was fun.

I'm looking forward to really exploring the options in ng+

Can't complain about that honestly sometimes a hack and slash is exactly what I want

you can customize your combat more I'd say

I still don't understand how some people can say at the same time, this a great game but the combat system si boring and repetitive.

We are speaking about an ACTION GAME based on fights.

Yeah I loved old devil may cry games and such, not everything needs to be a souls like sometimes you just want to hack and slash

I disagree especially in boss fights the combat shines

Yeah that's kind of what I'm saying the combat is good but everything about the game is so good that if I had to rank parts of it combat might be the lowest because every part of the game is fantastic

Not that case for me. I love the combat. Honestly after the number of games that have become parry fest which is a playstyle I loath. I am happy just to have an action combat game.

So far I have geled with the combat much more than the other two games I have tried and bounced off this month

I'm saying the combat is amazing but in a game that's full of amazing even the "worst" part of it is still better than most games

Oh yer that is entirely fair then. That was me misreading then. So far I have played like 5 hours of it and it has been so much fun. Just did like my second boss fight and it was so cool.

Yeah it’s so good in other areas that the combat not being the best of all time is fine. The facial animations are weird. But other than that it’s a masterpiece

Really, is this game that good?

I love remedy games so I might be biased but everything from the story to the environment is so unique I really can't think of anything that reminds me why I love gaming as much as a good remedy game and this one does not disappoint. I would play the first control if you haven't but it's my game of the year so far.

Yes, the semi-open world in this game is the best semi-open world I've seen period.

It manages to balance exploration without feeling bloated extremely well
