Discussion / Question Plague Tale: most unfun games I've ever played
both Innocence & Requiem, for similar & also different reasons. Resonance is excluded from this as I haven't played it yet.
Gameplay: Innocence suffered from extreme linearity & lack of freedom, which made its gameplay an unfun chore at times. This was partially remedied in Requiem by the larger levels & more options to tackle enemies, though it's still not saying much because the the first game set the bar very low. Requiem's gameplay is still lackluster by today's standard with its weak AI, repetitive limited gameplay loop & the not-so-responsive controls.
Difficulty: Both games are ridiculously easy 95% of the times, but in the other 5% they suddenly become unforgiving if you don't do certain things in a very specific sequence. This is often worsened by the questionable placement of autosaves, forcing you to go through scripted dialogues or waiting scenes etc. every single time you fail.
Story: the core of the story is basically Last of Us but with a more interesting concept; the mysterious plague. Sadly both games fail to make anything interesting out of it or answer any important questions by the end, like the origins & the "How" of the plague.
Characters: Amicia & Hugo are basically Joel & Ellie, the protector & the child, journeying through the country, hoping for a cure. but they don't have even a fraction of the maturity of the writing of Last of Us.
Emotions: TLoU did so much with so little, emotional scenes were few but always moving & memorable, characters rarely cried but when they did, you'd feel it & remember it. in Plague Tale, however, the characters are constantly yelling at your face their emotions of fear & sadness & yet it still fails to get any emotion out of me because the characters were never interesting in the first place.
Dialogue: Amicia's incessant monolgues about her fears & worries, her & Lucas constantly panicking whenever they're together, & Hugo always complaining about being scared or things being his fault... it's too much & too annoying. I became hopeful every time an adult character joined their company, hoping they might make things a little more mature & bearable, but they just continued in the same path of weak childish lines as the children.
a personal subjective complaint of mine is Hugo's voice, it's so screechy & annoying, it's honestly like nails on a chalkboard.
All of this got way more annoying in Requiem because for some reason they got rid of their authentic french accents for british, & made them talk x10 times more, as if they were scared of having a moment of silence in their game. There is so much pointless banter & lame jokes that honestly made me consider muting the dialogue audio at times.
Graphics: the only strength of Plague Tale games, incredible graphics with impressive performance. There were so many scenes in Requiem when there were hundreds of thousands of rats in the screen, with decent quality & moving fast too, & yet there was never any framerate drop, it was pretty impressive.
Overall I found these games very boring & tiring to play, rarely finding myself actually having fun in them. I'm never touching them again, though I might try Resonance at some point since it doesn't have Hugo & Amicia, which alone is a big upside lol. 3/10 do Not recommend.

Discussion / Question Choose my next game!
All of these are games that I own but are unsure of which to play next! Just came off the heels of the Adventures of Elliot, which kinda fell under the radar this year, but I really enjoyed it! Solid 8.5/10 for me.
I'll tally the votes in a day or so, and I'll play whichever gets the most! :)
Edit: I forgot to add Resident Evil 2 and Village to the chart.

Funny This video game store is selling a custom-made AI slop collector's edition.
The "collector's edition"literally looks different in every image and the proportions of the sword look so bad; why would you people pay for this when not a single real image can be seen, and how can they even model it with all the details if the game isn't out?

Other Kepler_L2: PS6 RAM and SSD costs alone are “over $680”
- Kepler had previously stated that the PlayStation 6's BoM (Bill of Materials) cost has already risen to almost $1,000
- This $680 cost obviously doesn't account for the console's CPU, GPU and other components
- Considering Sony has already stated they do not plan on selling the PS6 at a loss, this is guaranteed to cross $1000+ at the minimum

Discussion / Question GameStop Experience
Has anyone had a good experience with GameStop? I went to both local stores recently and I’m pretty disappointed. I bought a switch 2 and a few used games, setup a pro account. Was told I could return the games.
I also preordered OoT because he told me I’d get spiritual stones with my purchase(USA). I did some research and found that doesn’t seem to be the case. I call back to the same store and they tell me they have no clue if there will be any bonus for buying the game.
I then go to the second store in town to return 2 of the games I bought 4 days later. I hadn’t even put them in my switch. I found they ran better in my PC. Yes, I know, my fault for buying them in the first place. The manager at the second store refused my return and said a return does not mean a refund. I left, called GameStop customer service and turns out that’s not true, it’s policy to return used games within a week. However, managers do have a choice to refuse, if they think someone is abusing the policy. That’s fine, I respect that, but the manager lied directly to my face saying there is not a return policy on used games. I showed the receipt and he said see, “return” that doesn’t mean refund.
This was my first experience at a GameStop since I was a kid. Spent over $700 in their store and they wouldn’t give me a refund for $100 of used games. I was pretty disappointed, canceled my preorder and won’t be going back to any GameStop again.
Anyone had better/worse experiences?

Discussion / Question What comes to your mind when you hear “ peak character development “ ?
Character development is really important in basically most story games or at least the ones that are non heavily focused action game
And some games handle character development in one game or throughout the series
For example Arthur Morgan in rdr2
And if we would also mention rdr2
We would mention John Marston in rdr2 and rdr1
There are certainly other characters but my favorite is Arthur Morgan from rdr2

Discussion / Question Why was crimson deserts story so bad ?
I just finished crimson desert, not the enhanced version just the regular one . It took me about 3-4 months , and I have no idea what the story was even back , it’s like they tried to incorporate so many plot lines/ details to make it lore heavy , and somehow there still was no story in it , i don’t even understand what happened at the end , there was no urgency in the plot , they made it seem like its some world ending event and it felt like it didn’t even matter , is the enhanced version even better? Feel like the main story was just so jam packed and i still couldn’t make out the plot lol .
Btw this game still has some of the best gameplay I’ve ever experienced in a game , no doubt it’s a very fun game , just no story to it which is unfortunate considering how cool the world is , story had so much more potential

Discussion / Question I recently been trying to get into modding and when I ask for recommendations I always run into these people!
Video game purists piss me off, like read the room man. 🙄
It happens in majority of gaming spaces but Sonic fans are genuinely the worst with this shit. I been a sonic fan for years but never technically played a game from the franchise. I brought frontiers because it was on sale for mad cheap and it was the most boring intro to a game i ever experienced. I asked for modding advice as it was the first game i ever wanted to mod and these mfs chewed me out for “not fully experiencing the game”. I genuinely wasn’t having fun until I modded it.
Also I don’t think using performance mods online within reason is cheating as long as it’s fixing bugs.

Discussion / Question If you could press a "Reset" button on your memory to play ONE game for the first time again, which one would it be?
We’ve all had that one game—the one that completely blew our minds, the one with the twist we never saw coming, or the world that felt so real we never wanted to leave.
For me, I’d give anything to experience the feeling of stepping into Elden Ring (or Silent Hill 2) without knowing a single thing about it.
So, what’s that one game for you? The one that left a "void" in your soul after the credits rolled?

Discussion / Question Power To The Players Act
So it was just brought to my attention that New York Rep Ritchie Torres is proposing a bill called the Power to the Players Act
Tldr: its a bill that would make it so ANY digitally purchased game would be considered permanently OWNED and can be resold/transfered just like physical not a revocable license, additionally any online dependent games MUST have a way to play offline once support and servers shut down
So my question is what do you all think of this and if it'll actually go anywhere given that certain major developers are already trying to heavily lobby against this?
And if anyone has more information if you could provide it?
A link to Torres' page about it

Discussion / Question Does not liking challenge and playing on easy all the time bad or embarrassing
I always played on easy any time I get I don't really like challenge or getting lost or doing puzzles and I play games for strange small reasons others find boring or get old. I also never play multiplayer because I don't like being competitive. and I'm starting to wonder if I'm dumb or just lesser then other people especially when people Make fun of me for it or just tell me too stop playing games if I don't like challenge. everyone doesn't struggle but I do. and since I have level 2 autism I already feel like I'm less capable then others since I'm also in special needs class. I just asking does playing difficult games Relate to intelligence? should I be embarrassed or ashamed when I play on very easy or story mode

Discussion / Question 2026 GOTY & Orchestra Order Prediction :) Version 2!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Had so much fun making version 1 of the prediction and seeing everyone's response to it, I decided to make another version listening to the comment's feedback from various communities :)
I decided to replace 007 with Mina to have an Indie rep in the GOTY category (love making it the opener - gives of Celeste vibes also from 2018),
while also changing songs for Control: Resonant to 'Obsessive Compulsive Order' (could hear it as fast strings which would sound beautiful) & picking a more "bombastic" part from RE9's theme. I actually did a version where the closer was the main Zelda theme taken from the 40th Anniversary concert to make it bombastic, but the ocarina and the title theme is just too iconic - so it must be kept.
GTA VI & FE: Fortune's Weave's ost choice if they get nominated are also guaranteed to be their respective main themes.
What do you think of this orchestra order and the NEW 6 GOTY Contenders?
What would you change?
