Discussion It’s over for Tapas

Post image

Welp. The announcement says no more ink for purchase but you can keep using it till you run out. And of course there was no warning. I didnt top up on ink so now any new chapters I won’t be able to read. My last 100 inks are just going to sit there I guess. Also no news on what will happen to already purchased chapters.

And they’re not even going to merge it with another platform? Super disappointing after the crackdown Kakao did on sites like Bato

Yeah this is a really confusing business decision to me. If a platform shuts down, people will immediately start looking for the next viable service that exists, and if one doesn't exist, then piracy. Kakao should have had one ready to go, and should have honoured the previous purchases. All this does is sour the users who did exactly what they're supposed to do. If Kakao launches a new platform now, how many burned Tapas users are going to feel comfortable spending money on it? I can't understand what these decision makers are thinking.

My hope now is the relaunch it as Kakaopage. But only hoping now. Since the statement makes it seem like they won't create a new platform

Yeah everything I have seen makes it look like they won't saddly. They are just completely done in North America

Webtoon is my primary source for korean manhwa. But I did enjoy the manhwas on tapas had more interesting ones (i.e. dungeon odyssey, Pick Me Up, etc).... and had korean novels too. But at the same time webtoon might Pick up some of these series.

Now I need to figure out a good alternative to tapas...tappytoon?

Yeah most of what i liked to read or i thought looked interesting was saddly on Tapas. I hope to find a good place to read it all again legally. But if not it's to the seas I guess
