Discussion It’s over for Tapas

Welp. The announcement says no more ink for purchase but you can keep using it till you run out. And of course there was no warning. I didnt top up on ink so now any new chapters I won’t be able to read. My last 100 inks are just going to sit there I guess. Also no news on what will happen to already purchased chapters.

Wow, they really gave no warning for no longer being able to buy ink, it’s just effective immediately. Looks like I won’t get to finish my series after all. Love how they acknowledge that this is a surprise, and also that creators trusted them, while blatantly going out of their way to make this announcement as abrupt, shocking, and non-transparent as possible.

Edit: also ad pass is ended too.

I was waiting until payday to buy ink to finish my series... this is a really crappy shut down in all honestly especially considering its voluntary. I already have thousands of dollars in purchased series from the years ive been reading, this really pisses me off that they didnt actually give a heads up on the timeline for anything.

Same!! For the most part, I usually wait until payday so I can buy a good amount of ink. How on God's green earth, was I supposed to know that yesterday, was the last day to purchase or earn ink??? This literally came out of nowhere- and I wouldn't be surprised if anyone at all, both working or is a creator for Tapas, even knew what was going on until the day before or day of. First it was Pocket Comic, now Tapas?! Who's next?! Even if they weren't sure yet why couldn't they do the same thing that Pocket Comic did? They (Pocket Comic) weren't doing well but they at least gave us time befor they decided to completely shut down. What's worse is there are still many, many stories that are on hiatus so what are we supposed to do?? We can't even buy ink to support them anymore since it was shut down yesterday like, what the heck?? Welp, time to archive all names and start following them on their social medias. Does anyone know any other apps or websites we can use? I know Tappytoon and Manta are slowly getting similar comics from over here (assuming they don't shut down either🥲)

I worry about Tappytoon and Manta (a Ridi subsidiary). Lezhin US may be doing better. Who knows.
