Has anyone held a fundraiser at Wendy’s where you show a flyer and your organization gets 30% of the sales?
Had 3 fundraisers in 3 years at Wendy’s and will not hold another one. The experience is just weird. It starts off easy, you reach out to Hamra to book your day and the flyer is emailed to you to share and promote. I selected a day when schools had a city wide early release day to boost sales. Before I get to the Wendy’s location, I start to get calls from parents saying “I showed the flyer to the cashier and she doesn’t know what to do with it”. I immediately call my contact at Hamra, who calls the location and tells them what to do. Meanwhile there are signs on the doors that say “Have your fundraiser here” and the workers don’t know what to do.
This is frustrating since it’s an all day fundraiser and it’s already noon time and none of the breakfast orders get accounted for.
The third year I book a date and I get calls that the Wendy’s location door is locked. there was a water main break which was not their fault but no communication to me about the store being closed. The store eventually opened and the rep at Hamra offered to open up the second Wendy’s location as an option (there are two in the city where I live). I get that communicated throughout the school.
I get messages in the evening that the second location is not aware of the fundraiser and was told they can’t use it there.
I send an email to the rep at Hamra and she dismissing my claims and asked me to provide receipts. (Which of course I don’t have).
The final check amount that we will receive is the exact amount we received in the previous year. Down to the cent. Is that mind boggling?
I decided to reach I it to 2 moms from another school PTO that also had fundraisers at Wendy’s and I came to find out that they experienced issues with the workers not aware of the fundraiser and getting a small return check despite a packed restaurant.
I decided it wasn’t worth holding another fundraiser with them.
Curious if anyone else had these weird and frustrating experiences?
