Anti-AI people are gonna have to figure out real fucking quick where they draw the line. Is every battle worth it when the vibe is starting to shift? AI slop was easy to criticize because it's easy to spot and often produced terrible results. The lines are starting to blur on what AI is capable of. It's producing mods and decomps/emulator forks that never would have been possible with human hands. It will consume more and more data every day to make that process more efficient. These are already inhuman speeds that would takes years and years of labor. When a bunch of people are enjoying something because of AI, whether they're aware of it or not, does it benefit anti-AI people to have such hardline stances against it? From my perspective, some of y'all are starting to look more anti-technology. It doesn't come off as principaled. It comes off as old man yelling at the sky. For better or worse, it's here. Buckle up and learn how to properly navigate these topics without being a weirdo dork.
Edit: Getting called pro AI in some unhinged rant because I'm pragmatic is pretty hilarious. I'm very conscious of the harm these data centers and AI as a whole is causing. Especially with the complete lack of regulation. You not gonna wish AI away though. You need to learn to teach people how to be more mindful of their consumption without creating expectations that most will never adhere to. It's not going away, people are going to engage with it, but you can maybe influence how people engage with it.
