Wow. The city FINALLY did something about those tracks!
Trade Street, heading down it past Fiddlin Fish, past Wiseman’s and the apartments, like you’re heading to the ABC store.
Remember the train tracks there? The ones that if taken at 5mph would blow out your tires or break rims due to the huge holes next to the tracks? I’d CRAWL over them when driving on that road, and even then hated the sounds made.
Well, they FINALLY paved over all that mess! Those tracks haven’t been used in MANY years and it’s been a hazard for over a decade plus.
Glad to see they’re trying make downtown drivable again. 6th just got a fresh repave as well.

Selling at mckays ?
I know it’s been a post like this in here before breast been about a year ago. I just wanna have more opinions really because a lot of those were talking about like book drives and all that kind of stuff and really I’m looking more so just to sell stuff.
I’ve got these very nice speakers that retail amount for $400 and I’ve been looking to really sell them either for store credit McKays or some at McKays where I know someone will at least take them. My problem is is that I’m getting conflicting answers like some people say you can get 300 for this price or some people so you get like $50 price I don’t know. I just wanna know if you guys have sold any speakers or anything like that in McKay‘s before let me know because I just would like to know if it’s really worth the 50 mile drive for me to go and sell them there or should I just hold onto them?

Dog on Hanes Mall Blvd?
Hey, there was a dog running down Hanes Mall Blvd around 5 today. My partner and I spent 30ish minutes helping look but to no avail. Just wanted to check in and see if she was found? Does anyone know anything?

Mystery Power Outage
Last night at around 10:02 P.M. The power in my neighborhood on the far west end of Winston-Salem failed and stayed off until well after midnight.
I remember hearing 2-3 bangs out in the distance before the power failed, which I can assume meant that a transformer exploded.
Duke Energy never really did disclose the culprit of the outage if it was indeed a transformer exploding, weather-related, job site incompetence or if somebody crashed into the pole.
I was just wondering if I was the only one whose power was impacted and also what could of caused this mystery outage.

Got approved for an interview for a finance role…. Can anyone tell me what to expect on the recorded interview/questionnaire process and how long between that and the actual interview step? Also what to expect on the interview, is it a panel, what did you get asked? And how did you answer?

Easiest Early Voting Spot in Winston-Salem/Forsyth?
I drove by the Clemmons and Lewisville Public Libraries this afternoon, and they were jam packed. I didn't have time to wait in line, so I figured I would vote another day. Which polling station gets the least action in the County? I assumed Lewisville would be a ghost town, but clearly I don't know the area that well. I guess late afternoon on a Friday was a bad choice in time too, especially the first week it opens. Is there a particular time of day that would be better too, like maybe I should try 10/11 AM instead of 3/4 PM? Also hoping it will be less packed after this week.
I moved here from a smaller county in NC, and I never had to deal with a crowd to vote. Don't want that to discourage me from voting.

New to town
Hi everyone! I moved to the area a week ago from New Orleans. I’d really appreciate recommendations of good hair salons, medical spas, dentists office, and karaoke spots with good/decent sound system. Thanks in advance!

Stan Lee Super Kid Contest
Hey WS,
I apologize for using AI to create a sign to help my son win a contest. The comments were getting a bit heated and a little too personal for a post for a 6 year old. But I do understand what you’re saying about AI and the environment. I have removed that and will do better. I don’t want anyone to be upset with me or my son, because of my actions.
Also, me commenting on a response about using AI and saying I would use any tool necessary to help my son succeed wasn’t appropriate. I do care about the environment, I don’t even use straws 😭. Again, I’m sorry.
Here is a simple link to vote for my son, a recently turned 6 year old who had a hard start to his 14 months of life. He’s in the Stan Lee Foundation’s contest to win Super Kid. Born and raised in WS. He’s a very good kid, active in Little League and taking guitar lessons. He loves his foster siblings. He loves his Gecko. He loves, loves, loves Superheroes and if he wins this contest, he gets his own comic character and a trip to GalaxyCon in LA.
We got to GalaxyCon every year in Raleigh and he was met some amazing cosplayers dressed as his favorite superheroes. He’s even met William Shatner!
Thank you for your time and consideration. If you vote or comment, know we appreciate it more than you could know.

To the lady i met on the road this morning
This morning, a woman decided that a one-way street was more of a friendly suggestion than an actual traffic rule.
As someone was exiting the street, she came driving in the WRONG direction. Pretty straightforward situation, right? One person was following the rules, and the other apparently thought she was starring in Fast & Furious: Common Sense Not Included.
But wait, there’s more.
Instead of realizing her mistake, acknowledging that she was going the wrong way, or displaying even a microscopic amount of self-awareness, this woman had the absolute AUDACITY to flip off the person who was actually driving correctly.
Imagine being so confidently stupid that you break the rules and somehow convince yourself that everyone else is the problem. That’s not just a lack of common sense. That’s a premium subscription to delusion.
Her entitlement is impressive. Her judgment is nonexistent. And her ability to turn her own mistake into someone else’s fault deserves to be studied by scientists.
Honestly, people like this shouldn’t be allowed to reproduce until they’ve demonstrated basic competency in navigating both traffic and reality. The world already has enough problems without someone passing down a family heirloom of weaponized stupidity.
Somewhere out there, a driving instructor is having a headache without even knowing why.
The one-way sign was doing its job. The road was doing its job. The other driver was doing their job.
She was the only one who apparently missed the entire assignment.
Imagine being wrong, dangerous, AND rude about it. A truly spectacular combination. 🤡
TL;DR : Goes the wrong way down a one-way street, flips off the person going the right way. The audacity is honestly impressive
