Discussion You ever look at a mob and think : "Why the hell were you even added?"
Like the sniffer is cool, but is so incredibly niche.
2 flowers arent worth all the effort in order to get it.

Builds & Maps After many hours, my master plan is complete >:)
I decided a few months ago I decided to prank my friend (and the realm owner) in our realm. Over the course of 5 months (with about 73 hours of actual work) I slowly gathered, built, and distributed this lovely monstrosity. MapartCraft was very helpful for this project despite me being a bedrock player.
I’ve placed maybe 2 stacks of these maps around the world, focused on her base and the spawn area (a few have found their way into my base and two hotels of another friend).
Unfortunately, because me and all my friends started college this year the realm has been very dead. She has yet to see this and I think I’m going to have to force her to join to get a reaction.

Discussion Not everything has to be useful.
I've noticed how obsessed this community is with everything in the game having to serve a purpose. Every time Mojang adds something, people come out of the woodwork to complain about how useless it is and ask why they even added it in the first place.
The Sniffer is a perfect example of this. Is it one of the most useful mobs in the game? Not even close. But why should that mean it shouldn't have been added at all?If bats were added today in their current state, the community would absolutely tear Mojang apart for adding yet another useless mob.
Why does this mindset even exist? It's a sandbox game. Just because you don't care about something doesn't mean it's unnecessary. You don't have to interact with it if you don't want to.And the most absurd part is people complaining about new decorative building blocks being useless in a game where building is one of the MAIN mechanics.

Discussion The fact there even considering this with Minecraft being exclusive to Xbox is funny
Like assuming they do keep java which is implied here cause of the windows logo they still would either have to stop updating bedrock on other systems or flat out remove it from people's library's.
(It also would flat out kill console exclusive mash up packs.)
like out of all games that should be exclusive Minecraft is not one of them.
and again what if they just don't keep java. they probably will cause it runs on windows but what if they don't. you loose java fans. though to be fair they probably don't care java doesn't have a market place but still. it would be a bad idea if they want to just make every version of minecraft the same fully with bedrock.

Fan Work My take on the 2D item sprites for plants that instead have a 3D sprites, sticking out too much IMO.
Not planned for texture/resource pack, HOWEVER feel free to make your own such pixel sprites, based or inspired by my take here or your own completely different execution. Feel free to do so.

Discussion Who's your Minecraft YouTube goat?
Personally, DanTDM was my whole world when it came to Minecraft growing up.
From the showcases to the story telling to the let's plays. He really captured the game for me and is a big part of my love for the game.

Discussion Why don’t they just extend item despawning time?
It’s a genuine question and I’m open to being wrong. But it just feels to me like there isn’t a single case where a 5 minute item despawn is helpful.
In almost every case, the issue is more that the player will lose their items (by dying somewhere remote and having to find them again for example, we’ve all been there) and definitely less concerned about performance.
Removing item despawning entirely would definitely not be good. But just doubling, even tripling the time it takes to despawn would make such negligible difference to performance that I don’t understand why they haven’t changed this feature EVER.
EDIT: I know the timer pauses when chunks aren’t loaded. But most of the time you die in a winding cave and you’ll be frantically searching around while the timer is ticking.
And a lot of people are agreeing that a customisable gamerule would be the best option, that’s actually a great idea

Builds & Maps I dreamed my Minecraft world was 3D printed. So, I programmed a converter!
I think I play too much Minecraft :)
So I built a Windows app that converts Minecraft MCA files into STL files to 3D print them.
Over 10 years of playing Minecraft, I’ve created dozens of massive structures. It’s so cool to be able to hold what I’ve built in my hands! :)
The main advantage of my program is that it's built specifically for 3D printing. For example, you can choose how glass gets represented: no block, a solid block, or a checkerboard pattern (so large glass structures come out looking semi-transparent). You can also set the block overlap percentage so the blocks actually hold onto each other.

Discussion Anyone remember Imperial City
I remember playing with mods in creative on this map as a kid and having fun with it and recently I played on it again trying to blow it up with Voltz explosives and it really holds up. As an adult I see why they called it Imperial city and tbh that energy makes it all the more interesting as an adult. Its still the 4th most downloaded map and the 2nd most downloaded city and non-adventure map aside from Greenfield on PMC, and yet the last comment was from six years ago.

Discussion My boyfriend is new to Minecraft
Hi everyone! I'm new to this server and I hope I'm not breaking a rule by doing this, but I wanted to share this!
My (22F) boyfriend (22M) made his first Minecraft house! He's new to the game but so far he likes it! He's only been playing a few hours at this point.
