Fucking ace. I've never seen either. Listened to Caspian for almost 20 years. Less familiar with ASIWYFA but they rocked, so tight and some super fun stuff. It's so weird seeing guys I've listened to for literal decades as actual people actually playing this stuff. Lots of fun. Appreciate it. Though had to leave a few mins early, guh.

Grabbed the new Caspian on vinyl, got a bone coloured one. The new stuff sounded great.

To top it off, spent the day atop a mountain on perfect weather. Far Country indeed. Absolutely joyous.

I shared my album 'Quiet' here a while ago and got a surprisingly positive response from this community, so I wanted to share my new release 'Prisms' here as well. Similar to 'Quiet', this is a very calm, low-key collection of guitar compositions. If anything, the songs on this album are even a bit more relaxed. I'm really happy with this group of songs, and excited to share them. Have always been a fan of post-rock like explosions in the sky, Godspeed you black emperor & Tortoise. My camp counselor played “your hand in mine” when I was 14.. 20 years ago & it’s one of those songs that can slow down life when you need. Sometimes the sound bite “ the car is on fire..” randomly comes out as a stim I’d randomly say. “Mogwai fear death” needs to be played out in entirety..

I say this to hopefully soften my self promotion as a long time fan trying to see how we stand. I play bass in Fight Music and we just released our first ever single. Based in Brooklyn, NY. Would be curious if this sub thinks this fits the bill ? Also would love to know any other local post rock bands in the nyc area to check out. Happy Friday

Hi everyone! I hope this community is the right place to start a discussion on the online history of post-rock music.

I'm a music researcher interested in how indie music scenes transitioned from offline spaces and print media to websites, blogs and message boards around the turn of the millennium. Post-rock is an interesting case: A musical style that emerged at the exact time that more people gained access to the internet in the late 1990s. Online spaces were key to the formation of what we now recognize as a post-rock scene/community around the world. 

Doing research on this period of internet history is difficult. Some websites are preserved and survive mostly intact, others have disappeared. I am hoping to get in touch with people who were active in online communities at the time. Bloggers, forum administrators, webzine authors, people sharing MP3's and making compilations, tapers and bootleg archivists... Or even earlier stuff like email-lists and IRC channels. 

It seems to me that post-rock online activity picked up steam around 2006 (that's the year when The Silent Ballet and After the Post Rock came online), and then peaked around 2007–10 with quite a lot of blogs + intense activity on MySpace and Last.fm. But I am more interested in the stuff that predates this era. Late 90s and early 2000s. Does anyone have any leads? Anything or anyone that comes to mind?

I’m trying to find a song that was in the post-rock / ambient / shoegaze sphere. Really slow and atmospheric. The video was on rotation on MTV2 UK around 2000–2003.

I distinctly remember the video featuring either a manatee or a hippopotamus filmed underwater in murky water, in slow motion. Nothing else. It had a greenish hue.

The word ‘Low’ rings a bell, and I’m aware of the Minnesotan slowcore band with that name, but I’ve looked through all of their videos on YouTube and can’t find any that match.

Any ideas?
