GDD is auto-removed moving forward

GDD as in r/GirlDinnerDiaries

Last time we asked, most of the sub agreed to keep it. However, clearly a very large portion of this sub has a problem with the crossposts from there. A lot of the discussions in the comments in those posts are people saying it shouldn't be posted here. The constant discussion is overruning the sub and clogging reports. I didn't see that many posts from that sub except for upticks on the weekends (I did counts multiple times), but people kept complaining that it was all they saw. There were a few funny stories here and there, but honestly there's nothing so special (or hilarious) about that sub that merits so much effort to keep it here. I really fail to see this as a big loss at all. You can head to r/GirlDinnerCircleJerk for posts and discussion related to that sub.

So, all crossposts from GDD will be automatically removed by automod. This will also include similar subs: r/girldinner, r/kitchencels, r/boydinnerdiaries - any others that are crossposted here and I don't know of I'll add to the list as I find out about their existence. GDD-like parody/satire shitposts will still be allowed during the weekend. Siri Yuss Discussion threads discussing this topic will be removed too. Let's just move on already.

Feel free to celebrate/complain but do note I'm not going to reverse the decision.

Mod Update AITA for explaining some rule clarifications regarding this sub?

1.8k Upvotes

I (21F, hazel eyes, skinny) recently became engaged to my boyfriend of four days (35M, has 12 followers on Twitch). We immediately moved together into the house I inherited from my great aunt (deceased, perky boobs in her youth) and we're simply over the moon. I also decided to name our new house AmITheAngel (this will be important later).

To celebrate, we decided to host a dinner. I didn't invite anyone because I'm NC with my family, but my fiancé decided to invite his mom (49F, gave birth). I saw red (we've never gotten along), but I relented because I didn't want to cause trouble.

As soon as she arrived, she simply said "hello, I am Margaret". I snapped at her and reminded her that I am now VERY serious about lazy titles.

  • All posts that are deemed to have lazy titles will be removed. You are welcome to post them again with a different title. This is ultimately subjective, so don't get pissy about it.
  • Examples of lazy titles: "Another fake story", "Which one of you wrote this?", "I don't even know what to say here...".
  • A good title will be more descriptive of the story. Try to include elements relevant to the story. What makes it noteworthy? What is it about? Don't just say it's ridiculous or fake; tell us why it's ridiculous or fake.
  • If you can't think of anything, just use the original title from the post.

My MIL nodded silently before rushing into my bedroom, where she saw my large collection of sex toys charmingly sitting on the dresser. She screamed and started texting me horrible things. I was shocked. Before I could deliver some sick burn about how I am a grown woman who likes to have sex, my fiancé's finely-sculpted body ran into the room and started debating with my MIL. I blew my whistle and reminded them both that this sub is not meant to just further discussions from AITA.

  • Posts that are fishing to continue discussions from AITA may be removed. Don't crosspost just because you disagree.
  • Try to angle it in a way that isn't meant to simply further the existing AITA discussion - point out tropes, bring attention to comments, etc.
  • That said, this sub believes in free speech. Where the commenters take a post once crossposted here is up to them. We will not policy comments unless they break the rules.

My fiancé stormed off and locked himself in the bathroom, crying. I tried to ask him to come out before the Big Macs I had ordered for dinner went cold, but he wouldn't listen. I calmly explained to him that it would be far more helpful if he reports my MIL when she makes a repost or posts something that doesn't follow the above.

In the meantime, my MIL had stolen one of my tea bags and made herself some tea. Of course, I immediately called the police, and the chief of police showed up two minutes later. As the entire police force arrested my MIL for theft, I turned to the camera crew from the local news station. I sternly told them we allow all meta discussions about AITA.

  • This includes several themes and tropes that are also found in other subs. As we know, AITA has a certain culture, so to speak, and posts from any subs that share that mentality or which host equally silly stories are thus also welcome to be dissected, mocked, satirized, and/or debated. bridezilla, childfree, entitledparents, relationship_advice, offmychest, you name it.
  • Posts may be removed if we feel they don't belong to this sub.

When my fiancé finally left the bathroom, I read him a bedtime story from AITA. He asked me if I could please pin the story to the top of the comment chain. I told him I would look into it, but that he can sort by old in the meantime if he wants to find the story in the comments section.

We had amazing sex that night. As I orgasmed for the sixth time, I shouted, "Remember to have fun!". Before we fell asleep, he squeezed my skinny body tightly and whispered seductively in my ear, "you need therapy". I dreamed of receiving modmail regarding any other suggestions anyone may have.

Shitpost Am I overreacting, adopted nephew wasn't invited to sister's wedding?

Thumbnail

This happened years ago, but it recently got brought up at a family dinner and it caused a huge argument.

My sister had a small wedding with just a few friends and immediate family, and it was a lovely day.

But when I arrived and asked where my nephew was I was told he was at home with a babysitter. I know that child free weddings are more popular nowadays, but for the bride not to bring her own son is insane to me.

To make matters worse this was only a short time after she had adopted him, and he was still getting used to the idea of having a family.

My sister's argument was that he hates crowds, doesn't like strangers, and bites people when he is bored.

While all that may be true, I feel like she could have found a way to include him in the special day, and I can't help but notice that back then he was the only non white member of the family.

I get that he can be a bit energetic, and doesn't always stay still for photos, but he looks amazing in a suit, and it feels wrong to have family photos without him.

My sister says I need to let it go as it's been years, and my nephew doesn't bring it up anymore, but she still hasn't apologised to him.

Am I the arsehole for not letting this go?

Shitpost AITA for tactfully bring up my concers to my wife?

Title sounds bad, I can't change or select it, but hear me out.

I (31M) have been with my wife (30F) for eight years, married for ten. We have twins (4M, 3F) and a fairly comfortable lifestyle. We have a good relationship, no real big fights, etc. The only issue is that we intensely dislike eachother and don't agree on anything.

For some background, when I was 7, a local pilot was doing a tiktok challenge, and he maneuvered his small fixed wing Cessna aircraft to crash directly into our living room, obliterating my father and leaving nothing left of him except a dad sized pile of manburger. Due to this I developed a deep trauma about people doing things for bad reasons.

For example, my wife is unemployed, and 4 hours a month she volunteers at a local nonprofit that feeds plastic bags to endangered turtles. When she gets home she collapses on the couch, complaining how exhausted she is, and all she does after that is watch TV while eating junk food and designer bags. I on the other hand am an engineer, I work 30-35 hours a day eight times a week. On top of that I also drive the kids to and from school, help them with their homework, tutor them, coach them in sports, teach them knitting, enhance their physical abilities with CRISPR technology, show them how to properly file taxes, cook for them, clean up after them, chew food for them, basically almost everything. I do about 96.4% of the regular housework and chores. On top of that I have side hustle doing transatlantic doordash.

When I try to ask my wife for help she just rolls her eyes saying "give me the Gucci or get lost" and hurls a brick at my bad knee (tore my ACL during a cricket match) or "bring me the Birkin or buzz off" and hurls two bricks at my worse knee (tore that ACL during a walrus eating contest) then she goes right back to watching TV while scrolling her phone and eating designer bags.

Another problem is our sex life. As guys know, sex is a physical need, even if it's with a partner you wear down until they consent and is completely uninterested. But our bedroom is totally dead, we haven't been intimate in 7 years. Whenever I try to initiate, she hurls a brick at my head and says "you have a headache." or something. Recently I've started to lose attraction to her, I go to the gym three or four times a day but she has let herself go and has gained almost a pound in the past 4 years so I haven't tried to initiate recently.

One more issue is our upbringings. She was raised in a very conservative religious small town which has affected a lot of her beliefs. My brother is g*y and while she's never openly brought up his lust for cock, she gets super quiet and moody when she sees him. After he visits she takes her air rifle to the mall and takes potshots at "anyone who looks like they have pronouns" (her words.) She claims she doesn't care but her coldness is hard to miss, unlike the neon haired neopronoun users that she domes at the mall.

This all came to a head 2 weeks from now, when I got home after a particularly grueling shift. Dinner wasn't ready, the kitchen was a mess, laundry was left wet in the washer, half the kids were on fire, the hallway ceiling light was out, God had been killed, and the fan in the bathroom had been left on. My wife was on the couch as usual, gnawing on a designer handbag. I calmly asked my wife if she could give me a hand, at least with resurrecting God.

She blew up on me, saying I "don't do shit around here" and "don't appreciate her" and "don't know how hard she works" and "Greedo shot first" and "video games are for losers" and "trickle down economics is a viable strategy" and "the disney live actions remakes are better than the originals" and "I'm having an affair with the neighbor" and "I'm glad that small fixed wing Cessna aircraft turned your father into NSFW mulch so he wouldn't be here to see this" and "avocadoes"

I said "I have a different perspective on some matters of our household." She burst into room and stormed out of the tears. Now I'm wondering if I might be the asshole here. AITA?

EDIT: Wow, this blew up, just like the small fixed wing Cessna aircraft that exterminated my father. I'm trying to reply to all the comments with inflammatory details that make my wife look worse, but I can't keep up. I'm going to take yalls advice and sell my childrens organs then bet all the proceeds on 19 at the roulette wheel. Thank you all for your concern and comments IDK what I would do without you

EDIT 2: yeah

Shitpost AITA for Promoting the Man Instead of the Woman with More Experience?

AITA for Promoting the Man Instead of the Woman with More Experience?

I am a manager, and I recently had to choose a new team lead. It came down to two people on my team, to keep anonymity, let’s call one of them Mark. The other one's real name is Sarah because who cares about her anonymity.

Sarah has worked here about two and a half years longer than Mark. Her work is very good. She knows how everything works, she never misses deadlines, and when people get stuck, they usually go to her for help. She is even very dynamic in meetings, often guiding the discussion while making sure that everyone at the table has a chance to speak. Based on her record alone, she would probably be the obvious choice. When my boss approved the budget for this position, he even said, "Sarah is the obvious choice for this position, but maybe you should give interviews to a few people so you can help coach them towards their medium-term career goals."

However, Sarah does not dress up often or wear makeup, and she does not seem as "put together" as some of her coworkers. I know some people will say that should not matter. However, the team lead has to attend meetings with other departments and with my bosses, and I believe if that if she is unfortunately a woman, then looking like a Fox News anchor would be a definite plus.

Mark is newer and has less experience. However, he has a penis.

I chose Mark. I believed that a leader needs a penis and needs to look the part, and I thought he could learn the rest on the job.

After I announced my decision, Sarah came to my office and asked why she was not chosen. I told her that she needs to pick a lane: either have a penis or be easy on the eyes. Maybe, just maybe, she could get away with looking the way she does if she were a lesbian, but since I know she has a husband and kids, she just wasn't ready for a promotion.

She was very upset. She said the decision was unfair and that her experience and work history prove she is more qualified. She also said that she's going to talk to an employment lawyer. Things have been tense between us since then.

Part of me believes I made the right decision, because being a leader is just as much about being able to pee standing up as it is about doing good work. Another part of me wonders whether I'm just writing a bullshit story for rage-bait, and whether things like makeup should have mattered at all.

Why can't more trolls be this weird and wholesome? No evil fat people, no autistics acting a fool, and no gender wars.

And does anyone know where the "link" section in the post creation page went? I can't get the preview of the AITA post to embed like it usually does. Here's what it used to look like pic

Shitpost AITA for letting my boyfriend climb a tree up to my neighbors balcony?

I (19F) moved into an apartment about 8 months ago. It’s a nice complex, well taken care of and quiet. Everyone here has a balcony or patio depending on if they’re on the first or second floor. I’m on the first floor, and directly in front of my patio is a tree.

One day my boyfriend (19M) and I were hanging out outside. He asked me if I’ve ever climbed the tree and I laughed and told him no. He said he wanted to be the first and began to climb the tree. The tree isn’t that tall, it goes maybe 3 feet higher than my neighbors balcony.

Once he got up to the area around my neighbors balcony, the person living there opened their balcony door and yelled at him to get down. He looked at her with shock and confusion as she just stood there staring at him. He yelled back “I will” in the same aggressive tone she approached him with. We left right after that because I don’t like confrontation and was nervous the neighbor would come down and talk to us.

Later that day, I got a text from the landlord asking who was climbing the tree and telling me that we scared people. I was nervous she would ban my boyfriend from the premises so I lied and told her it was a dog sitter that was here by himself. The landlord told me to not let it happen again and I thought it was over with.

A few days after this, I was hosting Canadian thanksgiving. I’m going to school in America, so it was nice to have friends over to celebrate. I guess my neighbor heard us and decided it was a good time to come downstairs and confront me. She told me she was terrified, that she thought he was a robber or a rapist, and that we’re lucky she didn’t call the cops or come out with a weapon. She also told me that it was not okay that no one has apologized to her, and mentioned my boyfriend being rude before getting off the tree. I told her that trees are for climbing, and it was in the middle of the day so there’s no reason to be scared. She called me entitled which shocked me. I’ve never been called entitled before.

I don’t think my boyfriend did anything wrong. Who cares if there’s a balcony right there? He wanted to climb the tree, he wasn’t going to break into her apartment.

So AITA? I just can’t believe she called me entitled.

TLDR crazy neighbor threatens to call the cops on my boyfriend because he climbed up to her balcony
