We’re two Europeans attending Brisbane in late December/Early Jan and I want to pop the question and this sub feels like it has people who know the best spots.

We’re not huge attention lovers, so I’d love somewhere quiet, naturally beautiful and memorable if beggars can be choosers. Neither of us have been to Brisbane before, but it’s the first stop on our trip around Australia (and I’d like to be engaged for the trip).

My current plan is to head down to the Gold Coast and propose on one of the beaches, but it doesn’t feel like the best place.

Any suggestions welcome, and I’m open to paid experiences to get the right atmosphere for the occasion.

My friend made a server for Brisbane peeps with a focus on it being a neurodivergent friendly space and for introverts/people with anxiety. It's been a few months since it's inception and we're hoping to grow the community a bit.

The server is on the smaller side though we do try and have periodic events happening such as casual group lunches and going to events such as Oz Comiccon.

Looking for some friends to go surfing with mid week. I'm working and studying and am fortunate to have some flexibility throughout the week. I want to progress my surfing but I don't love doing it alone. I would rather find some friends to do the drive together and hold each other accountable. I don't mind going on weekends as well, I just prefer when it's a bit more chill on weekdays.

In terms of level I have been learning to surf over the last few years and am moderately competent. I definitely prefer mellow, smaller waves and I either ride a 7 foot or 9'6. I am keen to meet up with people of any level though. Even if we need to do our own thing in the surf or help each other to get better, whatever that might look like I'm keen to make it work.

A bit about me - originally from Adelaide now living on the southside of the river. I work in healthcare, currently completing a PhD. Hi all, Im a 59yo australian born male raised in NZ. My partner and I moved to Australia nearly 2 years ago.

I have never had a huge circle of friends but had a few really good close ones. One of my buddies we'd catch up together every Wednesday and Thursday nights at the local pub for a couple of drinks, play a bit of pool, talk some crap, but also able to enjoy some serious chats as good close mates. We did that for nearly 20 yrs.

Since moving over here Ive not yet found a new mate like that. Id like to see if I can.

Things I like are V8 supercars, rugby union, league and tennis. Also travel, cinema, playing pool, photography and motorbike riding.
