Billy, this is Arch Manning. He has some of the best arm strength and mobility that you’ll ever see in a young QB. He comes from the most talented pedigree of football to ever play. His only defect is that he’s a fucking moron

Winning is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for winning. Like badwrong, or badong. Yes, winning is badong. From this moment, I will stand for the opposite of winning: gnodab.

u/nw____ Oklahoma Sooners • Iowa Hawkeyes 7d ago

He really did have two passes that were unbelievably good and then three that were complete ass

283

u/DataDrivenPirate Ohio State • Colorado State 7d ago

He has the ceiling to be NFL caliber at any given moment but he's inconsistent enough that I have a hard time thinking Texas is going to be able to win 4 games in December/January to win it all. He's a slightly more talented and slightly more inconsistent Carson Beck.

197

u/Ereppy Oklahoma Sooners • Caltech Beavers 7d ago

Beck wasn't exactly inconsistent. You knew exactly when he would implode.

29

u/t0talnonsense Georgia Bulldogs • Chattanooga Mocs 7d ago

This person speaks truth.

23

u/colourshape Texas Longhorns • Virginia Cavaliers 7d ago

Ball knowledge. Arch is a coin toss QB. Beck is a weighted die

15

u/XAfricaSaltX Georgia Bulldogs • Florida Gators 6d ago

National championship on the line and he threw a straight Cuban sandwich lmfao

1

u/Beautiful_Idea6200 Georgia Bulldogs • William & Mary Tribe 6d ago

Too accurate. This guy knows Beck!!!

12

u/CodyRCantrell Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 7d ago

Broadcast earlier this season said between 0-10 yards he was the least accurate QB in the SEC and in the 100s nationally last season.

What I've seen so far this year tells me he hasn't drastically improved in that regard. He has such a glaring weakness in accuracy (and consistency) that he is a complete liability to the offense when they have to pass.

I mean, fuck, the man almost threw on interception on a pass he was throwing out of bounds. If our DB had 2" more reach we'd have had another one.

11

u/Fair_Squirrel_3057 7d ago

Arch needs another year starting for UT. Based on what he’s shown and comparing to other draft-eligible players, AM is not a 1st round pick. Besides he’ll make very good NIL $$ playing another year of college football.

While Arch could be standing on NFL Sunday sidelines a couple of years from now, he’d probably be limited to holding a clipboard as a backup…..,,.

11

u/RobbedC Notre Dame Fighting Irish 7d ago

I just don’t see it. He’s playing on one of the most talented teams in the country and looks exactly the same. He just doesn’t have it.

6

u/DataDrivenPirate Ohio State • Colorado State 7d ago

Yeah he hasnt really improved at all, but a GM would see that and say "I can fix him" instead of "he doesn't have it". Might as well go to the draft now instead of wasting another year at Texas

1

u/RobbedC Notre Dame Fighting Irish 6d ago

And honestly there are several of those guys every class. I have no problem with someone thinking they can fix him as a project QB and taking him in the 3rd-5th. But people acting like he’s a top 5 pick makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

I wouldn’t trade Taylen Green for him right now.

2

u/NotActuallyMeta Texas Longhorns • Rice Owls 7d ago

Even leaving the stadium after we beat y’all I said that there’s no way we can win a chip this year.. we are just so inconsistent and give up a huge detrimental play 1-2 (or more) times every game

2

u/Brewpendous Houston Cougars • Big 12 7d ago

Damn that's so on the money.

2

u/LowAbbreviations8047 6d ago

Playoffs? You’re talking about playoffs?

2

u/snakebit1995 Michigan State Spartans 6d ago

The only reason he’s gonna go in the first round is his last name

If he was Arch Smith he’d be a late 2 or 3rd round guy at best

I think he’ll go early cause of the hype train he’s got backing him but it also wouldn’t surprise me to see him have a slide ala Shaduer (but not as deep cause he doesn’t have the attitude issues)

1

u/tturedditor Texas Tech Red Raiders 7d ago

He's also a sophomore. Let's remember that.

1

u/NarwhalSquadron Texas Longhorns 7d ago

We are fucked the rest of the season. If this is how we do against Mateer, just wait until we go against Trinidad in two weeks. We ain’t making it to December.

1

u/Tax-Serious 6d ago

This is the funniest comparison ever. A guy with a last name as golden as his being compared to Carson Beck is just top tier comedy 😂.

1

u/MITBijanRobinson Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 7d ago

Beck is much better than Arch Manning

1

u/gerbilshower Texas Tech Red Raiders 6d ago

He can't see, or throw, intermediate routes. Thats what it takes to be an NFL QB, and his Achilles heel.

14

u/myman580 Michigan Wolverines • Sickos 7d ago

How many years before Brady's kid can start playing in the NFL? That's the only chance he's got to play one.

10

u/OnionFutureWolfGang Notre Dame Fighting Irish 7d ago

That wouldn’t prove anything. We already know he has the Derp gene, and that’s exactly what you need to beat Brady in the Super Bowl.

5

u/XAfricaSaltX Georgia Bulldogs • Florida Gators 6d ago

Eli Manning was ass aside from two of the coldest drives in NFL history that make him a Hall of Famer, truly an all time hilarious QB

156

u/ThatPlayWasAwful TCNJ Lions • Penn State Nittany Lions 7d ago

31

u/Texcellence Texas • Southwestern (TX) 7d ago

When a Manning is born the gods flip a coin. One side lands on greatness, one side lands on derpness. Except for that one time it rolled across the floor and was kinda propped up against the couch leg so we got a mostly derp but great in the playoffs Eli.

10

u/unfunnysexface New Mexico Lobos 6d ago

Even eli was derp in most playoffs he locked in on two miracle runs.

12

u/Kerbonaut2019 6d ago

- Eli Manning’s two Super Bowl runs: 8-0 record, 15TD/2TO

- Eli Manning’s playoff runs otherwise: 0-4 record (four one-and-dones), 2TD/9TO

He walked right into that last minute pick. The defense was designed for that rushed throw. Just throw it away my man. What a doofus.

I think Arch played great

7

u/Just_Breathe85 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

We all have tried telling ya’ll that for 2 seasons now, but you didn’t want to hear it.

7

u/adamjm99 Texas Longhorns 7d ago

We knew. It was just easy to ignore it while things were young and good and there were other scapegoats. Can’t escape it anymore

2

u/Just_Breathe85 Tennessee Volunteers 7d ago

I’ve seen a lot of your fans say “he’s led us to 13-1” or whatever it is. Technically true, but really been the surrounding cast the entire time. It’s frustrating because I truly think ya’ll would have an unstoppable team with someone marginally better.

4

u/O-Namazu Texas Longhorns 6d ago

I think if they let him just play like a running college QB, our offense would be a thousand times better.

He isn't Joe Burrow or Peyton Manning or stand-in-the-pocket passers. He's the son of a wide receiver who's a fast, big, strong boy. And yet this offense features zero zone reads, RPOs, designed runs, and they literally have trained the boy to not scramble (which is why he has so many illegal forward pass flags).

Quinn had better downfield vision but we see a lot of the systemic problems across both QBs' time. Playcalling and offense scheme is ass.

2

u/Yourfavoriteindian Houston Cougars • Navy Midshipmen 5d ago

Honestly, really valid. Same exact thing happened with Weigman at TAMU - they tried turning a tip dual threat QB into a pocket passer and he failed out. Now at UH where he has freedom to run or pass, he’s balling out.

1

u/Just_Breathe85 Tennessee Volunteers 6d ago

Ours is shit too. I wish Heupel would give up playcalling and hire an actual proven OC.

7

Well he has perfected the no look pass. As in, he’s not looking at the defender when he throws picks.

3

u/gtcgabe 7d ago

sadly that is very true.

3

u/dinosaurkiller Oklahoma Sooners 7d ago

I am Billy’s lack of surprise.

3

u/rezelscheft 7d ago

2

u/CodyRCantrell Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 7d ago

Y'all should've measured his forehead before accepting the commitment.

Peyton is one of the best QBs ever because he stored decades of film in memory and ended up with a fivehead as a result. Arch maybe has a threehead, not even a forehead, so everyone should've seen this coming.
