Questions What’s one ridiculously small thing that made you happy today?

I’ve had a pretty exhausting few days, and I’ve decided that today I’m officially off duty from worrying about everything.

So I’m looking for the little things. Funny animals, absurd conversations, unexpected kindness from strangers, whatever.

What’s something completely insignificant that made you smile recently?

Just Chatting I Positively Dislike Cleaning the Kitchen Now

• Upvotes

I used to be fairly neutral about kitchen-cleaning in times past. Now, I just hate it. I can't complain, I have a dishwasher and enough cabinets, but I just hate it.

What chore do you hate now that you were once able to deal with?

Maybe my kitchen has some bad Feng Shui? I'll have to research that.

Do you still buy and read a physical newspaper?

I'm interested. I've recently started buying a proper newspaper and I'm blown away by the interesting articles and quality compared to online or free resources. I'm wondering whether this form of media goes away soon or will see a resurgence as a blissful break from digital content.

Just Chatting Is it just me or lot of people feel overwhelming at night

Every day morning I feel energetic and plan how I have to be for the rest of my life, I continue to be same by night and I self sabotage, binge eat and binge watch and forcefully sleep.

How can I end this loop?

Just Chatting DAE romantize their life by filming private vlogs they never intend to post?

• Upvotes

DAE

Okay, so I have a habit of occasionally starting my vlogs with, "Hey guys, welcome to my YouTube channel/vlog". It's something that I picked up from a friend in high school, which I've continued to carry into university.

I don't post my vlogs on my personal accounts because I'm barely active, and I want to preserve the footage for myself. Vlogging my life makes University feel less dreadful, especially as a first-year student navigating constant mood fluctuations and the stress of individual and group assignments

LMAO, this kinda reminds me of all the memories I have captured with my friends. Some of our vlogs include everything from setting up our own karaoke studio and singing off-key because we're too broke to afford the karaoke places in our area to having a dance battle(s) and acting like hooligans together for our own entertainment.

I want to remember the mundane parts of my life, not just birthdays, graduations, and major milestones.

Food & Drinks I wish the standard drink sizes in the USA weren't so big (plus other food portions)

Unless what I'm drinking is water (or coffee), I rarely ever drink more than like, 6-8 oz ( ~ 177-237 ml) of anything. I'm a sipper, I don't drink anything very fast (besides water). I can't find any canned drinks under 12oz/~355ml besides maybe the 8.4oz Redbulls, but Redbull is expensive and not my favorite thing. I remember seeing 7.5oz Poppis in a six pack at the store a couple of times, but they're also expensive (and I really wish they had a pineapple and/or coconut flavor, but they dont 🥲). I know its more expensive to package/manufacture smaller food/drink items, but it would mean I waste so much less if I could buy things in smaller amounts. Milk is one of the first things that comes to mind... I wish they sold milk in a quart (~1137 ml) or maybe even a pint. I did see cartons of six eggs at the store, that seems nice.

I've been considering just making my own flavored water/juice/whatever at home, and maybe thats the solution to half my problems with this. I dunno though, I have yet to find drink mixes/powders I like enough that I would buy them.

Where do you all stand on this? I'd be especially interested to hear non-american viewpoints but everyone is welcome of course.

Thoughts & Ideas Why does showering at night feel like resetting your whole life?

I can have the most unproductive day ever, then take a shower, put on clean clothes, clean up my room a little and suddenly I feel like I’ve got my life together again.

It makes no sense but it works every time.

Thoughts & Ideas Do you ever randomly remember something embarrassing from years ago and just cringe in the middle of the day?

It’ll be completely out of nowhere. You’re just walking or sitting there and boom, some random moment from high school or an old job pops up and you physically wince. Happens to me more than I’d like. Anyone else get hit with these at the worst times?

Just Chatting Anyone remember rearranging your room as a teenager?

So I grew up in the 70s and 80s and I always shared a room with my brother (we were 20 months apart). And then, when I think it was about 12, I remember I got my own room finally. But I remember, as I was going through the years, that I often rearranged my room. I just get this sudden urge to move all the furniture around, take things off the walls, you know, put up new posters things like that. Just completely change the look of the room. Eventually, I ended up having Beatles posters and that kind of stuff all over my walls. I remember how good it felt afterward it was like having a brand new room. Something about changing everything around just kind of made it feel refreshed and give me a whole new outlook. I think I remember doing it before a new school year sometimes?? Anyways, it just got me wondering if anyone else did that too, and if kids nowadays do that. I don't have kids myself so I genuinely have no idea. I don't know what kids do nowadays. Is rearranging your room a thing?

Questions Soacial help

I've watched a lot of videos about developing charisma and attracting ppl towards you (not just girls, just anyone, I enjoy being with ppl).

I do the active listening, pretty well I think. I give good follow up questions and advice and keep Convo well enough. I am rather confident as well, not excessive or loud.

I'm a teen and still in school, and find myself sitting in class alone sometimes, I have 5-8 ppl i can call good friends. But they don't approach me all the time, I still do hangout with them during breaks and intervals.

I'm wondering how I can be more magnetic? and If I should approach my friend or wait for them to approach me? I usually wait for them cause I want them to make that appr

Help please

Just Chatting What’s the best one liner that you’ve ever come up with?

• Upvotes

I’m very proud of this one. This one time when I was stressing out I came out with this hilarious line that I’ll know I’ll never top. ‘I’m panicking Sky-Walker right now’

What I love about it so much is that my partner uses it all the time now and when we’re out with his friends and I hear one of his pals say it I feel well proud of myself haha.

Anyone have any golden one liners they want to share?

Just Chatting Stores should decorate again!

Why are no stores decorating anymore?? Not for Halloween, the winter holidays, anything. Since the height of the pandemic, stores, shops, and businesses had to close and re-evaluate their spending which I understand. But physical storefronts used to have decorations and happiness and fun. Where has it all gone??

Thoughts & Ideas What are some cool things to track when you move somewhere?

• Upvotes

I live in nyc moving to a new neighborhood soon. I've been tracking the stations I've gotten off at since moving here 2 years ago.

At my new place, I was thinking of restarting, tracking every train station I visit, when I first visited it, and why. Do a timelapse after and see how it slowly expands over a year.

Wondering what are some other cool things to track

Just Chatting To do list?

DAE still write to-do list, even on your phone?

I faithfully keep track of stuff I need to do, so I'll remember to do them. And it helps motivate me to actually get them five so I get the satisfaction of clicking them to strike through!

Thoughts & Ideas Does anyone else feel like evenings just disappear?

I get home from work, drop my stuff, and tell myself I’m finally going to do something I actually want to do. Then somehow it’s 10pm and I’ve just been scrolling or doing random chores that never seem to end.

It’s not even that I’m busy. It’s more like the free hours just quietly vanish and I never really use them for anything that feels good.

I used to look forward to the night as the best part of the day. Now it mostly just feels like the leftover time between work and sleep.

Anyone else notice this happening more and more?

Just Chatting In my late twenties and little moments are starting to become the meaning of life for me

While I'm loosing the big battles, the little moments are becoming more and more important to me. Though, I'm so busy I can hardly notice them, let alone enjoy them!

One of the bigger problems I have is other people are not on the same "wave length" when I try to enjoy the moments with them. It's a lifestyle that requires preaching to spread around haha.

I'm curious which little moments you folk enjoy.

Just Chatting Why do people engage in more F posts even if they are made by bots?

I have seen this trend that as soon as there is a post titled as F, it gets so many upvotes and comments and literally the OP’s inbox crashes.

This happens even if the OP is a spammer, how unfair?

But genuine posts do not get that attention and nobody even bothers to read. I think it tells less about op but about obsessed creeps in here who ate desperate for attention.

So sorry for that but it was necessary, now moving on I am willing to chat with people from anywhere in the world who are gentle, thoughtful, curious.

I spend my time in law, Psychology, philosophy, but I also enjoy tv shows, movies music, cooking, travel, and photography. We can also talk about daily life and fitness as well !

please reach out! It would be nice if you could mention your age, where you're from, and share a little about yourself.

Just Chatting Do you sometimes find yourself talking in a different accent when you're with your loved ones?

I've noticed that the way I talk can change depending on who I'm around. Sometimes I pick up the way my friends pronounce certain words, and other times I catch myself using a completely different voice when talking to family. It's not even intentional, it just happens naturally, and I don't always notice it until later unless they point it out or i overheard myself in voice messages.

I'm curious if this happens to other people too. Do you have a different accent around your family, partner, or close friends than you do around strangers? Or is your way of speaking pretty much the same with everyone?

Gaming Looking for realistic cooking game

I really enjoyed Order Up!! I'm looking for similar games on Android. I'm not interested in typical time-management cooking games or serve dishes type only.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Questions What was the moment you realized you weren’t a kid anymore?

I feel like growing up happens so gradually that you don’t even notice it until something hits you.
For me, it’s kinda weird realizing that the things I used to ask my parents for are now things I have to figure out on my own. Nobody really prepares you for that part of being an adult.
What’s funny is that it doesn’t always happen because of some big life event. Sometimes it’s just a random moment where you catch yourself thinking, “Damn, when did I get this old?”
What was that moment for you?

Thoughts & Ideas Just found out wrinkled fingers in water aren't from skin absorbing moisture.

Turns out pruney fingers are an active nerve reflex. Your brain literally constricts blood vessels to create "tire treads" so you can grip things underwater without slipping.

The wildest part is that if someone has nerve damage in a finger, it won't wrinkle at all. Evolution is crazy.

Found the neurological breakdown on oddlyclear here if anyone is curious about the nerve study:

Questions Because everything is geared towards clicks and views now, what are you best tips for discerning facts from hyperbole in anything?

• Upvotes

Everything is geared towards getting an emotional reaction to get those clicks and views, from over the top headlines, weirdly emotive thumbnails on videos and sound bite quotes being used by people in media whether on the interviewer side or interviewee side.

So what are some ways you have found helpful to see through it all to get to the facts?

Just Chatting I move too fast in outings

Everytime I go out with the family, they always seem so slow to me. It's no fault of theirs, just how I operate and I do try to bring it down to their pace.

Museums, zoos, theme parks, malls, grocery store, I'd always blaze through the exhibits because I'm the kind of guy who'd just stare at a thing for like half a minute and move on, which can evidently be seen in excursions on my own where I usually sweep the place too fast and then lap the building again two times over because I realized it's barely noon and I needed to get my money's worth.
