embarrassing vid from local show

This local band I went to is still posting this video with me in it. It’s been months! Months! This happened in summer and they’ve been posting this video with me moshing crazy in the front row and I look absolutely insane. Will anybody recognize me? No. Am I super noticeable? No. I still look like an idiot in it though.

You’re telling me that you have not done another show since? It keeps showing up on my TikTok fyp too because it’s in my area and that’s how I find new local music.

Anyways I’m not angry or anything, just wanted to say it somewhere. I’m not as crazy as that video makes me look.

Just Chatting Is it weird to sanitize your groceries after returning home from the store?

You know how a lot of people sanitize their hands after shopping at the grocery store (especially after covid).

I'm just wondering do people go the extra mile and sanitize the groceries too? Or is that a form of OCD?

For example: boxes of cereal, milk cartons, soda boxes, etc.

I mean other people are grabbing these items in the store and putting them back on the shelf. Same with the work stocking the item. Hard to know if the items are clean.

Music I got a message request on Instagram today and I thought it was spam. But it was someone that heard my song and said he loved it!

I really thought it was a weird person writing to me in German and mentioning a street in Berlin. I decided to ask if we knew each other and he told me he would walk Schönhauser Allee listening to my song!

I never got a text like that before and for what it’s worth I never really thought about having my song resonate with someone I don’t know like that.

So I’m not really surrounded by friends and family where I can share this and I decided to share with you because I’m super happy about it! Made my day

What have you done today so far?

Today after waking up, I had some Count Chocoula which I only recently had for the first time in my life (honestly, I'm not a fan of chocolate cereal but it has a sort of hot chocolate feel which I appreciate), went to work, then went to see my mom for a bit and we just spent 3 hours talking about whatever random things came to mind. Now I'm just sitting on a rocking chair with a blanket scrolling Reddit.

I plan to do some drawings later today, probably after supper.

Just Chatting What’s the best one liner that you’ve ever come up with?

I’m very proud of this one. This one time when I was stressing out I came out with this hilarious line that I’ll know I’ll never top. ‘I’m panicking Sky-Walker right now’

What I love about it so much is that my partner uses it all the time now and when we’re out with his friends and I hear one of his pals say it I feel well proud of myself haha.

Anyone have any golden one liners they want to share?

I look at random, completely uninteresting spots in the middle of nowhere and think about the history of a pole or a shed.

When I'm driving between cities and there's almost nothing out there, just power lines, tiny old abandoned structures, and stuff like that. It's completely uninteresting, but I end up thinking: when was this fence driven into the ground? The guy who built it probably doesn't even remember doing it, but I'd walk up to him and say, «Good day! Remember when you put up this fence in the middle of nowhere many years ago?» and he'd be like, «Huh? What? I don't remember, who cares?»

Or this abandoned shed, whose is it?

'Hello, ma'am, did your great-grandfather own this shed?'
'I don't know, maybe?'
'Do you happen to know why it's just sitting there empty?'
'No, who knows? You're weird.'

Yeah, I am weird, but what else am I supposed to think about during a boring drive?

I ordered an item, got a charged, and they just shipped it.

I ordered an item back in May. It was supposed to have an 8w lead time. I emailed the company asking for updates. At first they told me they didn't find the order, then they stopped responding. I never got a receipt either.

So i did a charge back on my credit card after 10 weeks. Then i realized i ordered it using my other email and i did have a receipt all along. But their customer service sucked so i was glad to no longer be a customer.

They just shipped the item out this week. 5 months after originally ordering it. I got my money back. The item is worth just over $500, made to order and fits a specific vehicle.

What should i do?

Just Chatting i just caught myself apologizing to a spoon

i took a long nap this afternoon and woke up feeling kind of foggy, like my brain was still deciding if it wanted to be awake. i went to the kitchen for water and dropped my spoon on the floor. without thinking i said sorry to it, picked it up, and rinsed it off like it was an actual person who might be offended. it took me a second to realize what i had done and laugh at myself. guess my sleepy brain needed someone to talk to, even if it was just a piece of silverware. anyone else catch themselves being weirdly polite to objects after a nap?

Questions What are some weird misconceptions you had about the world when you were a kid?

• Upvotes

I was randomly thinking back and remembered how strangely I viewed the world. Here are some examples.

When I first started watching movies/cartoons, I thought whatever happened to characters on-screen was real. And I didn't understand why anyone would sign up for the job!

I also used to think the sun was a giant egg yolk and wondered why it never sagged.

Also, I was SURE about the power of my imagination and believed I could actually fly if I meditated hard enough.

What about y'all?

Just Chatting DAE romantize their life by filming private vlogs they never intend to post?

DAE?

Okay, so I have a habit of occasionally starting my vlogs with, "Hey guys, welcome to my YouTube channel" or "Welcome back to my vlog, guys." It's something that I picked up from a friend in high school, which I've continued to carry into university.

LMAO, this kinda reminds me of all the memories I have captured with my friends. Some of our vlogs include everything from setting up our own karaoke studio and singing off-key because we're too broke to afford the karaoke places in our area to having a dance battle(s), choreographing our own MV, and staging runway shows just to act like hooligans together for our own entertainment.

I don't post my vlogs on my personal accounts because I'm barely active, and I want to preserve the footage for myself. Vlogging my life makes university feel less dreadful, especially as a first-year student navigating constant mood fluctuations and the stress of individual and group assignments

I want to remember the mundane parts of my life, not just birthdays, graduations, and major milestones.

Life Stories I dreamt that I had a beautiful daughter, and I really wish she was real

I just dreamt that I had a daughter. I found her abandoned in the street all by herself. She was 12, and her name was Hailey. She had curly blonde hair and she was really sweet. I took her back home and made sure she ate, showered, and went to bed on time. I was sewing a quilted pillow for her, and I asked her if she wanted to spend time in my room and talk for a while. I told her I go to bed at 10, and she said she’d be up later than that. Since I hadn’t enrolled her in school yet, I said I was ok with that as long as she only stayed up for an hour or two longer. Then I woke up. I know she wasn’t real, but I miss her a lot. I just kept checking on her to make sure she was ok, and she was acting kind of annoyed by how much I cared. I loved that part of it. I’ve dreamt about being a mother many times, but nothing like this. It really stuck with me. I’m only 20 right now, so that dream will hopefully become a reality someday.

Just Chatting Do you drink milk, if so what kind and why?

I feel like most people (at least those I know) have grown up drinking milk and have taken to one of three paths: continuing their crusade of milk consumption, complete cold-turkey on the milk train, or have swapped to other alternatives such as almond, oat, pecan, etc. If you don’t drink any form of milk, why not? If you do, why have you landed on your choice?

Overly detailed reasoning is greatly appreciated

Just Chatting I Positively Dislike Cleaning the Kitchen Now

I used to be fairly neutral about kitchen-cleaning in times past. Now, I just hate it. I can't complain, I have a dishwasher and enough cabinets, but I just hate it.

What chore do you hate now that you were once able to deal with?

Maybe my kitchen has some bad Feng Shui? I'll have to research that.

Thoughts & Ideas Does anyone else feel like weekends have become recovery days instead of actual days off?

1.6k Upvotes

I remember when weekends used to feel like a little vacation.
Now Friday comes around and I’m exhausted. Saturday disappears between laundry, groceries, cleaning, and all the things I didn’t have time to do during the week.
Then Sunday arrives and half the day is spent mentally preparing for Monday.
It’s weird because technically I have free time, but somehow it never feels like enough to actually enjoy anything.
And when I finally get a few hours to myself, sometimes all I want to do is absolutely nothing.
I miss having a weekend where I could wake up without a plan and just enjoy the day.
Anyone else feel like their days off are mostly spent recovering from their working days?

Pets & Animals A wholesome little update about a street dog I’ve been feeding

For almost a week now, I’ve been feeding a local street dog every day. Now, whenever I step out of my building, she comes running up to meet me all happy!

I also noticed that I’m not the only one — other people in the neighborhood have been feeding her too. It really warms my heart to know there are so many good people around.

Just wanted to share a bit of good news with you all! :)

Am I the only one that feels like this about the new Tesla

I feel like the new Tesla gives me Roman emperor building a golden statue while his people are starving.
Like I love the technology and all but does gen-z really need it.

Just Chatting Anyone else notice certain snacks only hit when you're actually there?

• Upvotes

I grabbed the same type of chips I always buy, but they taste totally different when I'm just sitting in my kitchen. Back when I was visiting my friend a few towns over they felt crispier and saltier in the best way, and I keep wondering if it was just the lighting or something about eating them on that specific couch. Tried recreating the vibe at home with the same brand and it still didn't match. Kind of funny how much the surroundings seem to change the flavor. Has anyone else had a random food that only works in its original spot?

Life Stories Old college friend sent me a photo from seven years ago and nothing else

A couple of weeks ago I came into my office and the frame on my desk had a photo on it I did not put there. I said "what" out loud. It was me and my friend (I will call him K) sitting on the pizza box, junior year I think, and I do not remember that night at all.

K and I lived across the hall from each other for three years and extend all day about nothing, we never had to make plans because he was always there. He go a job two states away after we graduated and I honestly could not tell you when we stopped talking every day. All we did for about a year was like each other's stories, and I take like four days to answer a text, so most of that is my fault.

He had a work thing near me in April so he stayed on my couch one night. It was nice. A little awkward though, we mostly talked about jobs and his new apartment and that kind of thing. Before he left he said we should do this more, and then something like "I am going to send you the worst photos I have of you." I thought that was funny and added him to the Times frame. Then I did not message him once for like six months, he did not send anything either, and I forgot he could even do that.

When the photo showed up I asked him where he found it, and he said his phone pulled it up, one of those 7 years ago today things, and also that I look terrible in it. I think he was doing the worst photos thing, and it is not even that bad of a photo. I had "hey" typed out him the week before and then deleted it because it felt weird out of nowhere. We texted for about an hour and near the end he wrote "we are so bad at this" and we said we would call on Sunday.

He pushed the call to the next Sunday an hour before, and then I forgot that one because I was at my parents'. Is there some trick to keeping it going after you get an old friend back like this? I might try calling him on some random weeknight and see if he picks up.

Just Chatting Dude. I’m humiliated

I just accidentally left my underwear in a pile of clothes I gave to Uptown Cheapskate to sort through! I didn’t know it was there! Oh my god I don’t even know what to think right now what if they remember my face when I go back in another time?? And they were all rude teenagers who were already giving me the harshest side eye for taking so long with my friend to browse even though we weren’t loud, and put everything we didn’t want back. I’m just humiliated is all.

Has anyone else done this? Any similar stories at all?

Why does it seem like no one else has problems?

is it that they are better at hiding it? because truly I wear my heart on my sleeves. obviously I won't spill the beans to a stranger but after some talk I am very honest and overtime bring up problems in my life and I find that helps connect. I don't mean like death in the family or anything but just simple things like today was a tough day, or I work a lot etc.

ofc I'm not trying to be no Debbie downer, as I like to talk about superficial things just like the next person but deep down I have so many problems, like debt, no spouse, feeling old, health, etc

yet these people I'm acquainted with almost never have these problems and seem to be well adjusted people with picture perfect lives with great jobs, great partner, great everything.

This is in real life so dont get me started with social media

Food & Drinks I miss food trends that disappear coz you never get to eat them again

Food trends come and go
But sometimes they disappear entirely and
They become missed. Like Szechuan McNuggets
Once they get tried you may never get to eat them again when they disappear

Thoughts & Ideas Anyone else ever just sit in their car for a few extra minutes after getting home?

I pull into the driveway, turn the engine off, and then just… stay there. Not scrolling or anything. Just sitting. Sometimes with the radio still on low.

It’s the only quiet in-between space that still feels like it belongs to me. Once I walk through the door the day starts again in a different way.

Does anyone else do this or is it just a me thing?

Just Chatting Casual reminder, when washing particularly sensitive areas on the body to use a neutral unscented soap. On an definitely related note: pepermint in the nether regions stings.

• Upvotes

This is unfortunately not the first time this has happened, I'm just not paying attention. Good news is that it doesnt happen often and is a very vivid reminder to buy proper soap at the store. Wish I had remembered earlier today when I went grocery shopping but ya cant win em all.

Do you have any reservations obtaining the property of a murdered victim?

So my niece bought a car from brokered by one of her friends. Months passed and she came to find out that the owner of the car was murdered in the car . Apparently the person who did it has been tried and convicted so it’s not like it’s an active crime scene anymore. She was pondering on selling the car while not so much that it was owned by someone that got murdered but that got murdered in the actual vehicle. What are your thoughts, would you be ok with owning I guess crime scene whether it’s a house or vehicle where someone was murdered?
