Is it just me or did the multi-million renovation of Tejon Street just... make it worse??
The backs of cars parked on Tejon hang out into the street, and I often have to wait for an oncoming truck or large SUV to pass before I navigate around the butts of pickups and vans. It feels crowded and hectic, and I find myself hurrying out of the area as fast as I can. It does not make me want to spend any more time downtown than I have to.
If this project was supposed to enhance the quality of the downtown experience, in my opinion I'd say it failed miserably. I am curious though if anyone here thinks downtown is better for it?

Where/what app do people usually use? Google? Yelp?
Looking to do plumbing+electric project work but I wanna call one contractor that can do both, not me calling different companies back and forth to coordinate, likely require permits and license so not just your regular landscaping general contractor. Not even sure what I should be searching in google

Leanna Firestone is coming through Colorado Springs with Sydney Sprague on November 10. Her songwriting gets very specific about family stuff, relationships, and the things you probably meant to keep in your notes app!
“Least Favorite Only Child” is a good introduction if you haven’t heard her.
The show’s at What’s Left Records and it’s all ages.

Hey Colorado Springs!
Earlier this month, 31 volunteers helped us rescue 8,233 pounds of honeydew melons in just two hours! Now we’re heading back into the fields for pumpkins, and we’d love some extra hands from Colorado Springs!
Join Uproot Colorado and Pueblo Food Project for HallowGlean on Friday, October 23!
8:30–11 AM | Pumpkin Glean in Pueblo
Help us rescue pumpkins for local hunger relief organizations! Some of the produce we rescue will make its way right back to Colorado Springs to help feed our neighbors!
No experience needed, families welcome, and I’ll have breakfast for everyone. Volunteers can take pumpkins home, too!
Costumes are welcome but optional. Just make sure you can still bend over and pick pumpkins!
Register: https://uprootcolorado.org/volunteer
4–6 PM | Free Pumpkin Preservation Class
Join Pueblo Food Project at the SRDA Kitchen to learn how to make pumpkin filling and prepare the seeds.
Register: https://pueblofoodproject.org/new-events/
This could be our last glean of the season! Come for one event or both, bring the family, and help us keep perfectly good food from going to waste.
Let’s see what we can do with a field full of pumpkins

Does anyone have any recommendations for places around town where I can get my kilt laundered?
Thanks!

The food scene and culture in this city are terrible…pretty much non existent.

I have been scammed by a couple dentists in different places I’ve lived - procedures I dont need, diagnoses I don’t have, the whole drill.
Might anyone have a dentist recommendation that is reputable, and you know they’re honest and love what they do? Thanks in advance!

Hey all! We want to get the interior of our house painted. First time renting a home instead of an apartment and we want to rid the home of millennial grey. The house is a little over 2000 square feet.
Does anyone have good guys they’ve worked with before? And before we talk about quotes, what would yall expect to pay?

Welcome to Free For All Friday! You can post whatever you'd like in this thread.
Post an event, complain about the drivers, talk about Denver or Breckenridge. As long as your comment doesn't break Reddit site rules, it's free game as this thread will be mostly unmoderated.

It's that time of year: unscrew your hose from the outside spigot to avoid a burst pipe

CHSAA didn’t buy the story Lutheran was selling, they want real accountability.

I’ve been getting 3-4 flyers a week from Crank, even though I no longer live in The Springs. We moved in July and cancelled our voter registrations mid-July, but he keeps sending them, regardless.
The flyers aren’t being forwarded, either. These are actually addressed to our house.

Hello!
I just moved here from Chicago this week.
I got to see Gorillaz last week with some friends as a last hurrah as I left the city.
I'm debating driving up to Denver to catch the show this Sunday. Probably GA because I want to be able to move around and bounce. (I wouldn't call what I do dancing. Haha)
Anyone in this sub making the trip and want to make a new friend? 38M if that makes any difference.
DM me and let's party!

The Broadmoor CEO sent an email to all employees asking them to reference the Gazette’s voter guide when voting this year. The Gazette and the Broadmoor are both owned by conservative billionaire Phil Anschutz:
Update: Following publication of this story, the Colorado Times Recorder obtained a similar email from the Andy Todd, President CEO of Xanterra Travel Collection — another Anschutz-owned business — sent to employees with the Denver Gazette’s editorial board voting guide.

I have a wool jacket I want to get some alterations made. Mostly simple things like adding a vent flap along the bottom and adding a button and button hole higher up. I can do some sewing like moving buttons, but I've not worked with wool before and it's a very nice jacket so I'd like someone with a bit more know-how to do it.
Who would be a good shop to take it to? Ideally on the east side of town (Powers corridor), but if someone is cheap and has good hours I can go other places too.

The email from the manager to the employees quoted in the article is so paternalistic and smarmy. Basically telling their employees that the ballot measures are too complicated for them to understand so they should follow the Anschutz owned voting guide.
"The voting guide is from the Gazette’s notoriously conservative editorial board, which includes Anschutz’s son, Christian. The guide recommends voting “yes” on all eight of the initiatives backed by Advance Colorado, the conservative dark money group backed by Anschutz. The guide recommends a “no” vote for the majority of the tax measures, including Amendment 87, the progressive income tax, which has been opposed by much of Colorado’s wealthy elite, including ostensibly Democratic Governor Jared Polis. The guide also opposes Proposition NN, which would use TABOR refund money for public school funding, and Proposition 137, which would use TABOR money for conservation, and Ballot Issue 7A, passenger rail."

Just wondering who people have had good experiences with lately, there are a lot of options out there. We're looking to get a drain line for our washing machine put in. Our house was built in the late 50s and doesn't have one, so this would just be an estimate type visit. Thank you in advance.

Ashley Losey, who is accused of being a part of a long and bitter neighbor dispute, fed her neighbor's cat to her dogs. The neighbor, Lindsey Hodges-Hough, tells KRDO13 that the arguments between her and Losey began four years ago, causing her to put cameras around her house.
Hodges-Hough says her 15-year-old son's cat, Toby, was outside. Losey is seen on surveillance tossing Toby to her dogs in the backyard.

We have a slider door in our basement that we want changed to a French door and I’m looking for recommendations in the area. In the past, we’ve had a few windows done in our home with Windows America and they were fine to work with pretty reasonably priced, but wasn’t always my favorite experience so looking for other recommendations thanks!
