hi everyone, i’m going to cosplay Lady Maria from Bloodborne and the attached image is the wig i’m planning to get, however, i don’t exactly like that in the reviews the wig looks a bit too white, to the point it looks somewhat cheap/unrealistic, despite the base itself being of good quality. I’m not too sure if i wanna buy an airbrush kit right now since i’m temporarily living abroad and i don’t want to hoard too much stuff iykwim.
So can you guys please suggest some other ways I can add a bit of grey colors etc. to make the wig less plainly white while still keeping the overall color? Sorry haha, im not the best with wigs haha, worst case scenario i’ll commission someone but i wanna see if i can handle this on my own first and finally start improving my wig skills lol
Hello, im wondering if i could put facepaint over my eye brows even without glue. or would it be horrible? Do i not have any choice but to keep my eyebrows..
(please ignore the dry looking spots, i have psoriasis :/)
long post ahead
hi! i have been cosplaying for a while now, but i still think of myself as a beginner, i'm quite self conscious about how i look like so most of my previous cosplays were that of masked or characters where i could cover my face
however, i was thinking about possibly coming out of my shell a bit, as anxious as it makes me i'm also aware that i would have a larger choice of possible cosplays if i actually decided to show my face
make up is important for me when it comes to cosplay, particularly eye makeup since i feel like it can change how you look like significantly, problem is that i'm a complete noob, i haven't touched eyeliner for a very long time out of fear and have just started experimenting
my main issue is that i can't figure out a proper eyeliner shape/style for my face, i'm cursed with small looking eyes and i'm aiming to make them appear larger as well as more defined, but i'm not sure how to do that, whenever i try i feel like it doesn't fit my eyes (if that makes sense)?
can anybody please guide me in a good direction? i'm struggling to figure out how to draw my eyeliner so that it actually helps define my eyes, guides, tutorials, anything is appreciated, sorry if this is a stupid question but i'm unsure where else to ask
(my eyes aren't "hooded" but they are partially hidden by my brow skin(?) since they sit further back on my face)
I'm going to be using body paints for the first time on my face and neck but from all the videos i have seen, the cosplayers use wigs after they have finished painting their face. Would using natural styled hair be too difficult and inconsistent with applying paint? Finding an appropriate male wig is difficult and i'm unsure of which way to approach this. Any advice or suggestions welcomed.
Hi so I'm making this hat for Halloween. I'm having trouble figuring out how to deal with the chains part.
For the hat itself I'm planning on buying a high quality chauffeur hat so that the brim should be made of something other than plastic that I can attach the chains to.
Most importantly, I can't seem to find pre-made chains like this (unless I'm looking in the wrong places), so I thought I might have to make my own chains out of brass wire. Is that a good solution? Would it look any good? How would I make the shape of the chain loops uniform enough? It looks like the chains are a simple loop that has been twisted slightly. What gauge of wire does it look like?
Also, the chains on the model hat are apparently attached by thread to the brim so that they can dangle freely. Do you think that super glue or sewing would be enough to hold the chains? I thought I could either try to sew the chains into the brim, or wrap a loop of thread around the chain and super glue that to the brim instead. How should I attach them?
Hi! I'm trying to make this cosplay, and I have a pattern for everything but the tailcoat. I don't know if I should just get a blazer/bolero style jacket and then modify it, or just make it from scratch.
I've made a closed, cropped jacket before and that went well- so I'm thinking of just re-printing that pattern and adding the tails, or basing the pattern off of a trenchcoat i have that somewhat fits- is there anything abt this coat that looks like it would be too hard to just guess and figure out, that i should get a base or pattern for?
I think the underbust button, and the way the part next to the sleeve is meant to curve around the bust (like corset straps), is just confusing me- maybe i should combine a underbust corset pattern, with a regular jacket pattern?
I purchased this set for a cosplay. The corset belt, made of PU leather and an elastic band, rubbed off on my white shirt, I tried washing and bleaching it, STAINED FOREVER! I obviously would like to prevent this from happening to other clothes is there something I can apply to the inside of the leather corset to stop it?
I've been trying to plan a cosplay for a Power from Ultrakill, but I've been kind of stumped on how to do the left arm. I have a couple of ideas, but I don't really know which one would be best. I'm very open to any suggestions on how to do this (and for those who know, no, I will not be amputating my arm)
Image 1 is a render, image 2 is the concept art of the Powers, and images 3-5 are my quick sketches of the following ideas:
Extend the wing to wrap over the front of my arm
Have a black or blue sleeve. The black would kind of just look like the rest of the "skin", and the blue would match with the wing
Extend the gauntlet to just be the whole arm
Also, this is less of a concern, but how would I go about attaching the wing to the armor? If it matters, I plan to probably make the wing out of fabric, and the armor out of EVA foam.
I think it fits just well but im having problems when closing the back part (it haves a zipper on it) and if you see the part of the shoulders and arms theyre too tight, any advices?
Over the last few years I’ve been making costumes for my daughter and this has segued into making props for the home. I made an oversize eyeball for the bookshelf and now I am convinced that every room in the house would greatly benefit from having a giant eyeball. I’ve even just bought a small antique display case from FB marketplace which I hope to fill with eyeballs. I think it will look lovely with a pot plant on top. (Others may disagree)
My original eyeball was made from polystyrene, air dry foam clay and paint but I found it really hard to get a smooth finish with the air dry foam. I was wondering about a finish more akin to plaster but I’ve researched too hard and now my brain is too full of conflicting advice on materials and approach.
I am going to consciously empty my brain and start again. If you lovely people were trying to make some small and large (20cm diameter or more) eyeballs that were smooth and preferably glossy, how would you do it?
I’m trying to cosplay Vessel from SleepToken, but I’m unable to find any good cloaks. The cloak with the gold trimming seems nearly impossible to find, I’m unable to find anything even similar to it. It doesn’t have to be exactly alike. But even with the simple black cloak, every cloak I find the sleeves are insanely long..
Some help with finding items for this cosplay would be deeply appreciated! This is my first time trying!
With Halloween coming around, I've been wanting to cosplay Night Wing more but don't really have too much to spend. I've gotten the costume so I only need to worry about a mask. I was thinking of doing face paint rather than a fully fledged mask since a lot of the okay to nicer looking ones are still really expensive. Does anyone know of a cheap alternative to a mask since I'm not really sure if face paint or eye black works well?
hi everyone! i’d like to cosplay this skin from marvel rivals and i have a pretty good idea on how to make all the components except for the skirt. the shape of it is throwing me off, would i have to layer interfacing inside it to keep its shape? i don’t even know where to start to find a some type of pattern for it. if anyone knows a similar pattern for the skirt it would be greatly appreciated, i’m okay with modifying patterns i just need to get the shape down. any help at all is appreciated!!
I bought off of ally express and it looks really good! It fits my skull for the most part, but the unfortunate part is my hair is too big lol. So I was thinking maybe just snipping the back part of it, and maybe taping it back together for a bigger fit (especially in the back) but others say it’d just ruin it. That’s my main concern, but I also just want to stretch out the back of the hat so that the “wings” protruding from the back flair out more like the game. Any suggestions?
I want to use this thrifted jacket as an accessory around my shoulders for a King in Yellow cosplay. I cut the black inner lining out previously and replaced it for my Alucard cosplay, but ended up scrapping it since it no longer fit. Now that I want to use the bones of this jacket as a piece in a new cosplay, this felting looks off. Anyone have tips to remove it? I’m not opposed to plucking it from the fabric by hand, but there must be a more efficient way.
Hi, I got a PU leather catsuit for Halloween but it's too big on me even though I got the smallest size. I want it to be skin tight, but the tailoring shop is charging way too much, and I can only hand wash. Any advice? (Also, can I make it look shiny like latex?)
I am attempting a Dondochakka costume for Halloween and I'm pretty stuck up on his big hands. I was surprised to find nothing suitable from a simple search, so I'm here asking if anyone knows a good way to make them myself or if there's anywhere I can just buy big opposable hands. My friend mentioned the idea of looking at fnaf cosplays since they always have those big animatronic hands, and that sounded like a pretty good idea to me, would looking in that direction help?
Any advice for literally any other aspect of the costume would be helpful too! Were planning on making the mask out of paper mache and modeling clay.
I want to be spice for Halloween! I have a few things down that I know i will do. But I'm stumped on her body. Its easy, just a morph suit and then putting the golden skeletal parts on the morphsuit. But...I dont know how how I would even do that, let alone make it look sparkly like in the game. How could I possibly achieve this?
Hey I need help I am totally new to cosplay and I wanna make this I checked on Amazon I can’t find the accessories. I was thinking of 3-D printing the crown and the little circle above the arm but I have zero clue how or if it’s possible can someone please help
Hi all! Not a cosplayer, but I am in charge of a student-run nonprofit that visits kids at our local hospital as superheroes and princesses. I’m looking for a Black Panther cosplay for one of our new volunteers. Here is what we would need:
1. As realistic as possible. We want to make sure our costumes are real-looking so the kiddos can’t tell the difference and think the real T’Challa is visiting them!
2. Somewhat cheap. We have a relatively small budget, but could probably swing $800-$1200. Since we are volunteer run though, as cheap as possible is best
3. Durable. They will be used almost weekly, so need to be durable or repairable
4. Shipping to Canada. That’s where we are located!
What are good places to get this cosplay specifically? I have seen some options from ProCosplay and Takerlama, but not sure if they are reliable
I’ve been cosplaying for years and no matter what I try I can’t get it to be not entirely patchy. For this I apply the face paint with both sponges and brushes and set it with a white face powder of some kind I believe from spirit(picture 3). I tried baby powder and that really didn’t work. I used to use eyeshadow but I don’t have any close to this colour. Any advice?
Hey all, I'm brainstorming a cosplay for a Halloween costume. I'm not trying to splurge a ton on material costs, and I don't have sewing experience, so all of this is going to have to be relatively DIY (50-60ish USD). The hardest part that I'm trying to work out is that the character in question has a large cape. The inside of the cape is red, and the outside of the cape is a gradient. The gradient goes from a gray-purple to black at the bottom.
The best way I can think of is to get one of those Dracula red/black capes off of Amazon, and then simply do acrylic paint for the top half that is purple (and tapering the intensity as I go down, so that it fades from gray-purple to black). I have been told that mixing acrylic with fabric softener and then ironing it on allows acrylic to stay on fabric even after washing. However, I'm not certain if that advice applies to polyester as well. Those capes on Amazon appear to be pretty much universally polyester, and I don't want to ruin it and waste the money if it is going to crack and peel off (or just generally look terrible). Would acrylic even work for an area that large rather than just a small design? I've also been told not to iron polyester.
It would be one thing if it was just purple on the outside and red on the inside, I could probably just one fabric the right color and figure out how the sewing machine worked, but that gradient makes me think that dye won't work very well. Plus I'd then have to buy even more materials and risk making a gigantic mess.
The FAQ says this regarding painting fabric:
- "You can buy a variety of brands of fabric paint from almost anywhere that sells craft supplies. You can also mix fabric medium with acrylic paints. This makes it easy to get designs or patterns on most fabrics. For changing the color of an entire garment I’d recommend dyeing it."
The issue with dyeing is that I'd get a very harsh cutoff instead of the gradient, and I'd dye the red side as well. I also don't know if dyes or fabric paints even work on polyester. Part of me wants to just say screw it and go full black, but that would make it significantly less interesting.
I've attached an image of the character I am looking to cosplay. The mask and other accessories will not be as hard, most of it I can just buy. Since the hat is the same color as the cape, it will be easy provided I have the right materials and colorant. I'm not too bothered by getting the collar super high but it would be a bonus.
I’m assuming it’s ya but I was wondering if people with more experience with dyeing synthetic wigs or have done this type of thing before could weigh in on this. I bought this wig a few years ago and haven’t used it and was wondering if it would be possible to get it to be even a little blue. I’m expecting purple but would blue be remotely feasible? Not a bright blue, like a very dark blue. It’s for Kris (Deltarune) so black with blue tint would also work.
Earlier I asked about dyeing my purple wig with sharpies but I found synthetic Rit dye (midnight navy) so if this isn’t feasible I’ll just use that wig. The red one is just a significantly better length unfortunately.
TLDR: would using midnight navy Rit synthetic dye on the red wig shown make it straight up purple?
