Is Something Wrong with DMB Radio?

For the past 5 days, everytime I turn it on they are playing the 9.30.08 concert from Rio de Janero

Are you talking about the “What Would You Play” segments that have been airing for years? And what songs would you like to hear that aren’t on the channel?

"WWYP" isn't the issue. Fans curating their own playlists and giving some background on why those songs/versions stand out to them is part what of makes the DMB community what it is.

The issue for me is the commentary leading into the segments. It's just tough to listen to. It's clearly scripted, and often poorly read. It sounds unbelievably forced and unnatural, not conversational at all. Also, part of it for me is the commentary seems elitist, almost like you are trying to prove to the listeners why you are a bigger fan than they are, because you say something like "In this show, we saw an epic rendition of Crush that reminded me of N2 of Alpine Valley back in 2016, where Stephan opened the set with a 13 minute tease before ripping that famous bass line and setting the crown on fire. I was so fortunate to be sitting side stage (an experience you lawn jockeys will never even sniff) during that performance and it still gives me chills."

He’s being a little harsh, but also making alot of good points. Causal listeners are turned off by the mid song segments worshipping Dave like a god and talking about how much of a religious experience a live show is, it’s weird. More devoted fans dont love the pissing contest aspect of it. Like, who is this for? It makes it awkward to listen to for 90% of the audience.

But at the end of the day the station selected you guys and there is definitely a reason for that choice. Those are the people that write your checks you gotta make them happy at a minimum. You don’t need to make everyone happy.
