Im not saying his not gay, i actually believe he is. But assuming someone sexuality just because they're interested in fashion is a asshole, toxic masculinity move.

I agree with you but I think this is more like a popular fan theory people already like and want to be true and just using this is evidence to project on to that

I highly doubt people would call seven gay if this was legit the ONLY thing he had

There's a lot of other dialogue that indicates he's gay, particularly all his stuff about Kelvin when taken in context with the announcer line about him being betrayed by a lover. (Presuming of course that he is Ettrick)

lmao, i think the way he delivered the punch at mina was way more gay rather than just liking fashion, c'mon, HAHAHA, and mina folded instantly

While you're right, I do enjoy a character who embraces their stereotype, as long as that's not the only representation of them, and Seven is absolutely not the only queer person in this game

I get what you're trying to say but beyond seven saying this in a super sassy way that is undeniably not straight, fashion culture especially runway culture (especially for the men) is inseparable from queer culture as a whole, to be involved in it is inherently pretty fruity by design, men being interested in run way fashion in specific is like historical red herring for a men being queer in someway, and even if he was a straight man, I really dont think someone invested in fashion culture like that would be bothered all that much by being called gay if they weren't. Also, seven is not a real person

The response from queer people to these lines has mostly been “damn he’s queening out, I love him” so I think you’re tilting at windmills here a bit

Queer people trying to label anyone based in stereotypes is toxic aswell. Being queer doesnt make anyone automatically non-toxic, queer people can be shit people too.

So uhhh who gets to decide what's 'toxic' and what isn't? Funny your beliefs/code of conduct happens to be the correct, non-toxic one.

Meanwhile I'm just seeing people having fun with voice lines and stereotypes while you're screeching about what a morally superior person you are for not associating fashion with gayness.

ughhhhhhhhhh yall are so draining

How do you know the sexuality of the people saying that. I'm gay and completely agree with the person you responded to

But everyone assuming Celeste and Silver were lesbians is ok?

They're fictional supernatural monster people lol. Let people have fun.

No, actually, that wasn't okay either.

I mean it’s not an assumption, Celeste flirts with almost every woman in the cast and directly asks silver out on a date and silver agrees.

directly asks silver out on a date and silver agrees.

Nope. They make plans to go to a bar together. That is something friends do.

Right and I’m sure that Celeste specifically asking a woman she finds attractive, when she has a history of flirting with all the other women, to go hang out with her at a social activity where people normally go to for dates because alcohol makes it easier to loosen up means nothing. Just friends. lol.

You can just admit it’s a date, there’s no reason to pretend otherwise

a woman she finds attractive

nope.

a history of flirting with all the other women

Nope.

Not at all lmfao it's just that literally none of those things are in the games. You are basing your assumptions on top of other assumptions.

-5

u/Godtaku 17d ago

Actually, it is, because they're not real.

Let people have fun with their weird ships, jfc.

Correct. They are not a he.

Arin "Pocket" Fairfax's pronouns are canonically they/them.

Other characters use only they/them when referring to Pocket, even when using their given name, Arin.

The once popular "they are incognito" fan-canon was debunked by new voice-lines. And a dev has since confirmed that any line using "he" was a mistake and got removed as soon as they were spotted.

The Deadlock Wiki cites many more they/them references.

Keep Rule #1 in mind when discussing Deadlock and its characters. Deviating into larger socio-political commentary may result in deletions and bans.

In this case I think it's just because of the sheer amount of evidence already stacked up for him being exes with Kelvin

And also the sheer absurdity of Serial Killer Nikola Tesla, who usually threatens to kill people or berates them for wasting their potential (not emulating machiavelli) having this one interaction where he calls a fashion designer dripless by explicitly referring to her shows

Coding and a stereotype are two different things.

edit: they hated jesus because he told them the truth

51

u/dont_worry_about_it8 17d ago

They really aren’t. But calling it coding just makes people feel less rude .

37

u/akitash1ba 17d ago

You’re just feeding into the stereotype

24

u/Jester_the_Mad 17d ago

They are but I don't think this is an example of coding. Infernus is African American coded but Seven being gay because he's interested in fashion is more an example of stereotyping.

-1

u/FleetingRain 17d ago

The point here isn't being interested in fashion lmao

Okay sure but be so for real.
