Bedroom How can I attach a hook onto a ceiling without drilling into it

I live in a cement building and I don't want to, and can't, drill into the ceiling. I really want to do this in my bedroom and was wondering if anyone knows any non-drilling hooks that would be strong enough to hold up this much fabric.

Dining Room Help with my furniture choices!!

Hi!!!

To start, my style is a mix of colonial and Victorian. I love antiquing and to find a deal when I can. It started with finding this credenza buffet on Facebook marketplace. Instantly, I knew it was my style and I loved it. Then I found this dining set I fell in love with. It ended up matching the buffet perfectly , but idk why it’s throwing me off. I think the pieces are so dark I’m having trouble adjusting, but my style has been stained woods. I like the idea of mixing different color woods. I think the other thing throwing me off is the color cushions on the dining chairs. In the pictures on market place, they looked a lot lighter. I ordered some off white chair covers to try. I feel like that will fix the issues I’m having. I have some pics attached

To the left of this room in the picture, I have a Queen Anne style coffee table that is a tad lighter wood than what’s in the dining room. We also are building a window seat with bookcase in the same stain as the coffee table.

Please thoughts, I feel sick that this didn’t work out ?!

Living Room 650 sq ft with a baby help!

We are in 650 sq ft and expecting a baby in 6ish weeks. I love our house and the space has worked really well for just us but with a baby coming, I’m wondering if we have too much “decor” and not enough storage solutions. Regarding our bedroom, I think we’re set but I thought I’d include photos anyway. We have a sidecar mini crib that will fit well but open to any suggestions for the bedroom as well!

Budget is semi tight, so would love options of storage things I could get on marketplace or Ikea.

Bedroom Please help me think of ideas to design around this stage in my room!

So in my new house my room is in the attic and the lifted "stage" parts you see are because of the height of the rooms below, so it cant ben removed. I quite like mid-century modern homes and decor. I was thinking a boneless couch or some sort of low the ground couch and coffee table? I want to maybe incorporate a cd player and vinyl station too? Im just not sure how with this awkward area. The stage is about 145 x 349cm if that helps. Thanks!

Bedroom Attic bedroom with sloped ceiling (7.3 × 3.5 m): where would you put the bed, the desk and the closet? Floor plan with all measurements

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I'm moving into the attic room of our house and I can't settle on a layout. The plan is to scale, dimensions in cm, and the orange letters are the ceiling height at that point.

What has to fit

- Bed 160 × 190 (keeping it)

- Desk 175 × 75 (I work from home)

- Walk-in closet in the nook next to the bathroom

- TV on an articulated arm, on the wall to the left of the entry door, to play PlayStation from the bed

- It's my room (I'm 175 cm), but my girlfriend (170 cm) stays over a lot, so it has to work for two

Fixed: radiator under the window, A/C unit next to the bathroom opening, and the bathroom fixtures. All the other furniture can go.

Ceiling: flat at 2.27 m in the middle strip, then it slopes down to 1.245 m at the right wall. You can only stand upright (185 cm) up to about 1.55 m from the right wall.

Style: modern and clean? :) not a lot of stuff.

Image 2 is my best idea so far: bed under the right slope (headboard against the bottom wall), desk on the bottom wall, free space in the middle and the TV at the foot of the bed. The downside is that the bed is only reachable from one side. Before that I had the bed centred against the bottom wall and the desk under the slope, but it felt like wasted space.

What would you do? Sketches are very welcome. Thanks!

Bathroom Bathroom Refresh: Wallpaper & Colour Advice Needed

The bathroom is slowly coming together! I’m still working on the lighting and planning to add shelving above the toilet, underneath the botanical print, for extra storage. I’ve installed shower caddies, added some eucalyptus, and plan to get baskets for under the sink to hide the clutter.

Since I’m renting, I’m considering peel-and-stick wallpaper instead of paint. I’d love suggestions on which wall to accent, what wallpaper colours or patterns would work best, and what towel colours would tie everything together.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Living Room Struggling with Living Room Layour

I’ve been in the house for a year and can’t for the life of me figure out the best conformation or even furniture for this space.

As you can see from the photos, the walls don’t line up from one side to the other. There is a bay window to consider as well as all the walking paths.

This area always feels off, cluttered and not the welcoming area I want it to be! Help please!!

I’m open to suggestions!
- key points: I have dogs so leather couches are required (hence what I have currently).

My problem is the living room. Its narrow and long. And has two opening: one to kitchen and one to entrance / hallway. The sofa and the media unit has been on their place for ever and the bigger bottle nect is what to do with the empty space on the right side of the living room. Or is there some other way around to design the room. Any ideas are welcome at this point.

Looking for scandinavic modern interoir but that's more in-progress and on idea level than the current situation.

Living Room Trying to rethink Entry/ Living Room

So we have tried using this room with multiple chairs and a couch and it just doesn’t feel great. It’s also our entry to the house and I want to consider that aspect a bit more. I’d love some advice. I’m thinking a sectional in the corner? I uploaded some photos where I photo shopped all the furniture out. We really love the aesthetic of cabellhouse if that helps at all. Any tips are appreciated!

Living Room Help with living room layout

Hi Everyone - We moved a few years ago and I’ve honestly never gotten this living room to a layout that I love. Got any ideas? I tried all sorts of spots for the TV but unfortunately above the fire place was the only place that worked. Also don’t love the couch in front of the stairs but I can’t figure out what else would make sense! Thanks

How would you update this laundry room? This is the main area everyone walks into and immediately sees all the clothes.
I would love to stack the washer with somewhere to the left to fold and organize & have a hall tree to the right but it’s a tight squeeze. Second option putting the hall tree in the garage.

I’m uploading the architectural floor plan, real photos of the current space, and a few designs I like for inspiration.
I’m considering beige or grey stone-effect tiles with black fixtures and wood accents, but I’m completely open to other ideas!

How would you design this space to make it look modern, stylish, and well put together while making the best use of the space?

Would love to hear your suggestions! 🫡

Bedroom Please help me with my bedroom!

Hi everyone!

I (23M) am a student moving into a new place next month and am struggling to figure out a suitable layout.

The room itself is roughly 3.1x4.0m and the main challenge I have is fitting a desk for my computer and other furniture around the doors, as there are doors for the bathroom, wardrobe and obviously entrance alongside a sliding door/window to the outside.

The entrance door opens into the room and thus I have to keep my desk relatively small (it is also the only side that has ethernet and most of the power outlets).

I already have a double bed which I will have to use which unfortunately doesn't leave me with as much space to work with as I would like.

The rear wall (behind the bed) is a shade of blue as well which is interesting and I am unsure what would go with it.

I intend on applying the basics like warm lighting and some plants (and maybe even a rug on the carpet?) but would really appreciate any advice on the layout, potential furniture alternatives and general decorating advice!

I have attached the actual photo of the staged bedroom from the listing, and then a little mockup I made on Ikea's website (I am not very good at picking furniture) to try my best to show the door situation.

There is roughly a 1.35m space from the wardrobe door to the entrance door when fully opened into the room. And around a 1.6m space between the ensuite door and the entrance.

If it comes to it, I may be able to move my desk and computer setup entirely out into the garage, whilst not preferable, I would want to hear your thoughts on it!

Thank you so much!

Staged photo
The doors (mainly entrance) are not oriented correctly, it swings into the room towards the wall on the right.

Things to be done
1. Curtains
2. Rug under bed
3. 3 wall lights
4. Two hanging light over side tables

What types of light should I go for?

My dad thinks the tv wall is very empty and is insisting me to add a console under it but I thinks it’s fine what should I do with the empty space?

Should I add a poster above the wall? Or just leave it as it is?

Something feels empty in the room please do share what should I add or change.

Help! How would you arrange furniture in this living room? I’m not keen on putting the TV above the fireplace. I’m thinking the fireplace is one focal area and then the TV gets its own focal area on another wall.

Bathroom Tiles - yay or nay?

Thumbnail gallery
623 Upvotes

Hey all, trying to get some opinions on this bathroom. We have a small budget (around 1000 euros) to renovate/change up some things to make it look cohesive and a bit more modern.

We're not sure if we should keep the white sink and remove the tiles (or paint over them), and have a modern look - or keep the tiles and change the color of the fixtures to have a upgraded vintage look. The floor tiles cannot be changed :(

Do you have any ideas? What are your opinions?
