Tire recommendations

• Upvotes

I’m big turbski and can’t get any traction in 2nd or 3rd gear. Any recommendations for tires? I live in Vegas where it’s always dry. I’m also on 7.5” wheels which kind of sucks haha.

Question 2013 ST3 HID Headlamps Lens Only?

Has anyone had luck with finding a replacement for just the lens of the housing? Mine is very fogged inside and out. I’m considering just replacing it. I found the site headlight-headlamp.com that says they have them, but you can’t order directly from the site, you have to contact them via email. Kinda suspect.

Opinions??

I am at 4500 since last oil chance I normally do every 3500-4000 miles. The place I order my motul oil from is waiting for a delivery of the oil so they can send it out (already place order so just waiting now)

My question is since I’m already over what I normally do should I just wait until the motul comes in (no eta at the moment) or should I just get some oil from the parts store and run that until the motul comes in.

Car is FBO at 70k miles

Update: decided to go to local ford dealer on my lunch break and got some full synthetic motorcraft oil so gonna do the oil chance before I leave work at my dealership

Magnaflow loud AF

This exhaust was already on the car when I bought it. It's not bad when you have a light foot, though there is some drone on deceleration, but when you give it a fair amount of throttle it's quite loud, to the point that I always drive with a light foot because it's too loud if I don't.

I'm tired of my ears ringing every time I drive my car; is it worth adding an additional resonator or should I just try to find a stock exhaust somewhere?

Aside from the loud exhaust, the focus ST is by far the loudest car I've owned when it comes to general road and wind noise in the cabin. It's to the point that it's kind of killing the enjoyment for the car itself. I have tinnitus from my earlier days when I was a musician and so it gets aggravated pretty easily.

I do plan on trying to add sound insulation into the doors where the wind noise seems to be the worst, as well as some to the front wheel arches and the trunk, but I'm not expecting it to do a whole lot other than maybe take the edge off a bit.

Just coasting in neutral, the road noise transmission through all the body panels is pretty bad, and includes a lot of lower mid frequencies that my ears don't do well with.

If I can't find ways to make driving this thing more tolerable it might go up for sale, which would be a shame since I like the car overall and how it looks.

My last two cars were Audis so I think I've been spoiled by how comfortable and reasonably quiet the cabins were.

Question Coolant leak after replacing heater hoses

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys. Im stuck. I finally got around to replacing the 2 heater core hoses that are known for causing a slow, sometimes quick, coolant leak.
I got the hoses, 3d printed the tool for the plastic connections, drained the coolant, and replaced everything. I thought i saw on here to connect the new hoses in the unlocked position, then twist to the locked position (where the arrows align [I hope]) which i did.
Little bit later, im finally adding coolant and i have an awful leak in the video attached. Im not a mechanic, but im trying. I cant leave ford without spending $3k on some bs so i wanted to do this myself but im worried i really messed something up. Is this issue familiar with anyone? Should i get it towed to ford and bite.. another.. bullet?

Question USB device not supported message but android auto still working

Hey y'all,

Got my 2017 Focus ST, 166K miles, and I'm running into this issue.

When I plug in a phone to use android auto, I get the the "USB not supported" message BUT it still works. I hit the "close" button on the popup window and it works just fine most of the time. Occasional, it'll freeze after loading in but it's rare.

I've tried resetting the head unit to factory and clear cache, new UBS cords, different phones, tried both USB ports, unplugging the battery for 10 minutes (both positive and negative terminals) but the message keeps popping up.

I glanced at some of the previous posts but the common ones I'm seeing are the USB ports just not working at all so it leads me to belive I'm having a different issue.

Thank you for any help or guidance to the right direction.

Question Do Skid plate causes overheating

When I bought my St I found that the prior owner had tossed the OEM wheel well liners and plastic plate. I live in northern Utah where we can get a lot of snow so I want protection for my underbay. I was looking at a good louvered skid plate by some Canadian company but they don't sell to the US. All the other ones I can find are not louvered/vented. Do y'all think I'm fine to get a nom vented one or will I have issues with heat especially in the summer?
