This exhaust was already on the car when I bought it. It's not bad when you have a light foot, though there is some drone on deceleration, but when you give it a fair amount of throttle it's quite loud, to the point that I always drive with a light foot because it's too loud if I don't.
I'm tired of my ears ringing every time I drive my car; is it worth adding an additional resonator or should I just try to find a stock exhaust somewhere?
Aside from the loud exhaust, the focus ST is by far the loudest car I've owned when it comes to general road and wind noise in the cabin. It's to the point that it's kind of killing the enjoyment for the car itself. I have tinnitus from my earlier days when I was a musician and so it gets aggravated pretty easily.
I do plan on trying to add sound insulation into the doors where the wind noise seems to be the worst, as well as some to the front wheel arches and the trunk, but I'm not expecting it to do a whole lot other than maybe take the edge off a bit.
Just coasting in neutral, the road noise transmission through all the body panels is pretty bad, and includes a lot of lower mid frequencies that my ears don't do well with.
If I can't find ways to make driving this thing more tolerable it might go up for sale, which would be a shame since I like the car overall and how it looks.
My last two cars were Audis so I think I've been spoiled by how comfortable and reasonably quiet the cabins were.
