8 months into my guitar learning journey, here are a couple performances I recorded this week. Please enjoy (or cringe) and provide feedback if you could. Thank you. I definitely made some mistakes, but figured I keep my progress log more or less honest. I can't lie I did over a dozen takes before finally calling it. Also, to be transparent, I recorded on an AT2020 for vocals, and SM57 for guitar (not that I know how to optimize with them, or how to use Audacity properly). Followed Gemini's instructions to edit the audio to some extent.
Apologies on the bad aspect ratio/resolution of the videos
Second impromptu recording here - slightly different style.
I believe the last progress video I posted was this one (2 month progress video).
Here's my first open mic at month 4 (holy nerves!!!)
Then, for poops an giggles, here's my 3 week milestone.
Thank you all

self taught guitarist, not sure, what i do wrong
but im probably in the intermediate beginner stage
so , ,just wanted to get some constructive criticisms, and share my work as well
if you are in my level, and , maybe you can contact me,
it would be nice to listen to similar level artists
anyway, professionally trained guitarists please give me some advice if you can
i really want the flamenco and classical guitars, but out my skill level right now so as the title says,

Basically my school has a play and for some reason I decided to play as a filler between plays. and I need a song to lowk play. but the problem is I genuinly can't sing and all I'm gonna do is play the gutair so it dosent even have to be a full song or anything. around 5 mins, the teacher told me to either play one thing for full 5 mins or two different ones for 2:30 mins each.
I'm alright at gutair but the problem is that I'm kinda bad at finger style or whatever so doing solos is hard. can do chord changes and strumming pretty well.
(played sparks by Coldplay and tek it, but the teacher wants smth with "variance"
so would appreciate some recommendations that look impressive or smth

Hey folks!
I've been wanting to learn guitar for a while and I'm planning to finally start.
Instead of joining classes, I thought it would be fun to find 2–4 people in Bangalore who are also beginners or planning to learn.
The idea is to learn through YouTube, share progress, motivate each other to practise and eventually meet up on weekends for coffee and casual jamming.
No experience required. We can all be terrible at guitar together initially 😂
I'm open to different genres, whether it's Bollywood, indie, acoustic or rock.
Would be great to meet some like-minded people and build a small music circle!
Comment or DM if you're interested.

Would love to surprise my brother as he graduates from highschool. Is there a specific type of guitar I should consider? - he has never played before but has always wished to own one

New to guitar maintenance? Here’s a good place to start! 🎸
In this video, I walk through some basic maintenance on a Fender Telecaster, including removing the old strings, cleaning the fretboard, installing new strings on a six-saddle bridge, and measuring and adjusting the low E string action.
If you’ve ever been unsure how to change your strings or wondered how high they should sit above the frets, I show the process up close, step by step.
You don’t need to be an expert to start learning how to take care of your own guitar. These are useful skills that can help you understand your instrument and get it playing the way you like.
Beginner question: Have you changed your own guitar strings yet, or are you still learning how to do it?
I’d love to hear where you’re at!

found this on insta and I really love this guitar cover can someone plzz breakdown this strumming pattren? I assume He uses multiple patterns for this song and that makes it hard for me to identify by just hearing it becuz I'm not that much of an expert ,but i can easily do the chords
But the Strumming, I can't.!

The strum pattern shows 6/8 but it’s always resetting to beat 1 after 4 making it a 4/4 strum pattern. Justin Guitars app highlights the strum for you but it’s never going to 5 and 6. I heard Justin was the go to for beginners but I am finding this very confusing.
I would think a 6/8 means my first strum on AM would be up down but skipping the first beat. But instead it highlights down on beat 1.

Hey guys! I've been working on my project https://riff.quest/ for a few years now. The main problem I'm trying to solve is lack of motivation and not knowing what to practice. The website is completely free and runs on donations from the community. Here's what you can find there:

So I just bought my first electric Stratocaster and I have a song that I wanted to learn for years.
It’s called Collar by Dog saints, it starts with muted strums and the 7878 part on G string comes in.
But, then I play it, it sounds like something from sponge bob, and YES I tried all of different kinds of effects and tricks but nothing worked.
So how guitarists copy each others songs, if you have to search for exact amplifier, exact effect, exact distortion-echo-gain-drive-etc BY YOUR OWN EAR cause there is no info about it.
Please I need to play this song, but my version is too bright and ringing HELP

Already familiar with most open chords, alternate picking and I write my own songs as well. Just not entirely sure how to imbed a solo into a song while jamming. Any tips on what scales I should learn? (I do already know the pentatonic scale)

I literally just picked up a guitar today. I am trying to learn to play an E major chord. My pointer finger is on the G first fret but the B string sounds "muffled". I try to change my finger position but I think my finger "padding" is not enough is there some way to get around this I tried cutting my nails short as possible. In the picture you should be able to see the difference between my middle finger and my pointer finger. The middle one has enough "padding" to be upright the pointer does not. (I did cut my nails as short as I could go without pain).
Is there something I can do for this?
