Whether you’re a poster or a commenter, if you have received unsolicited, creepy, or down right disgusting DMs please feel free to message Mod Mail or message me directly. As posted in multiple places in the subreddit, unsolicited or inappropriate DMs of any kind are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban. You may also be reported directly to Reddit Admins. If the person on the receiving end of this kind of harassment is a minor, you will be reported to relevant authorities (FBI Tip Line, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, etc) and it WILL be taken seriously.
As a subreddit, we have ZERO tolerance for this behavior and will do everything in our power to combat it. Unfortunately we have seen an influx of users who seem to only frequent porn subs, and our sub.
Please don’t think “oh this message isn’t that bad, I’m overreacting, etc”. Reporting posts, comments, and DMs helps out everyone in the long run. Not reporting causes these creeps to keep messaging people so nipping it in the bud can help out others💕

We’ve seen an increase in unsolicited DMs being sent to members of this subreddit. Let this serve as a clear reminder:
Sending unprompted private messages is against the rules. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.
If you receive a DM like this, report it to the mod team immediately.
This subreddit exists as a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and giving feedback about hair dye and color treatments. If someone genuinely wants to follow up based on your helpful advice or a shared interest, they will say so publicly.
We shouldn't have to say this, but lurking in beauty-related or appearance-focused subs to harass and prey on people is disgusting and absolutely not tolerated. Any messages of an obscene or harassing nature will be reported to Reddit Admins and could result in a permanent ban from the site as a whole (for your current account, any other current accounts, or subsequent accounts made in the future).

Hello everyone. My daughter wanter her hair tk be dyed blue. since he has dark hair I cut down her hair tips with a bleach which I left on for 10ish minutes because I was scared to leave then I applied the blue hair color/dye. After washing the color, its still ashy/orangy as if blue was never applied. What do I do at this point.

My sister had the best idea to try balayage on herself a couple of months ago and it went as well as you’d expect lol. On the bottom half it wasn’t so bad, but things happened near the roots. She grew it out for a couple of months and today i attempted to fix it. I’ve dyed people’s hair and my own a few times, but I’m by no means a hairdresser! I’d never done anything balayage like.
I didn’t tone afterwards because I forgot to bring those supplies so everything leans a bit more yellow still. I’m happy with the result, it looks better in person. She’s very happy, that’s the most important part!
Color & method:
- wanted to get Wella colourtouch 8/71 but they didn’t have it so I improvised and grabbed 8/0 and 8/73
- sectioned the hair
- mixed those in equal parts with 6vol
- applied the color as low lights from roots over the bright blonde mid section, weaving it and blending into the mids/lengths (cut tin foil into strips)
- teased the ends
- applied bleach with 20vol to the ends , blending upwards with fingers
- normally would’ve toned here but forgot to bring it
- trimmed the hair after washing

I got my hair bleached white in China a while back.
But now I’m back in Germany, which is a hellish place for hair dressers generally. But I had to get my roots done, they were white at first but now after 2 weeks they are yellow-ish.
(Image 1 Shows the yellow tint, Image 2 is how it looked when the Chinese did it: crispy white)
I use purple shampoo once a week which is how I kept my Chinese bleached hair white the entire time but it doesn’t work here. I am not sure if they just don’t have good enough bleach products or if it’s something else.
sooo, does anyone have any tips on how I can get the roots as white as the rest of my hair? Cause the difference is making me mad Everytime I look in the mirror 😅

My hair is pretty light but i accidentally over purple-shampooed it, and it has a quite purple hue to it at the top while the back is more classic butter blonde .. it’s a but hard to see on camera but i hope it’s still somewhat visible

going on the long, tedious journey of removing black box dye. i was hoping to (one day) get this sucker to at least an 8-9 but i know it would take lots of technique, time and tears.
im fully down to go on that journey but im wondering if maybe for now i should just use a fashion color. only thing is im worried about the dye making it harder to lighten in the future. i also would want a color that would keep the contrast next to my dark hair- maybe a blood red?

I mean real dark, still wet with the purple undertones. (Best reference I could get.)

Kind of an update to my last post in this sub, i used manic panic “cotton candy pink” diluted with conditioner to dye my hair. The initial color is great and exactly what i wanted, but large parts of my hair seems to not have picked up the dye as well, leaving it quite uneven - some people told my part of my hair would turn out more peachy which i honestly don’t really mind, but instead it’s just lighter than the rest.
Would it improve the evenness of the color if i let the pink totally fade out so my initial base is the exact same tone and then dye it again⁉️ Cause so far thats my plan

I sincerely don't know what else it could be at this point. I have been dying my hair on and off since \~2019 and it always worked perfectly fine until \~2022. I have no other explanation for why. It doesnt matter how deeply I shampoo, it doesnt matter how many times I wash my hair, doesnt matter formula, even professional permanent hair dye doesnt work. Splat, notorious for leaving people's hair extremely damaged and not leaving the hair once dyed washed out recently within the same week I used it. Splat used to be one of my go-tos and worked really well. Nothing I try works. I went to beauty stores to get professional toner and developers and all that jazz and it still did nothing.
For context, my hair is very light, almost platinum blonde in the summer and doesnt ever get very dark without sunlight either, so ive never bleached my hair. At some point I thought this might have been the reason nothing was working, but im pretty sure developer does whatever bleach does in that it strips a layer off the folical to be more easily penetrable to the hair. Also I feel like using the exact same product that used to hold should be able to hold the same.
Regardless of whether my hair had been dyed prior doesnt seem to matter either. Like I added earlier I recently dyed my hair dark purple with splat and it washed out within a week of being dyed.
Im really fucking tired of wasting so much money to be disappointed and I cant come up with any other answer as to why my hair cant hold color anymore. Im so broken over it. Dying my hair is a huge part of my self expression and not being able to do it is really devastating.
If you know anything or have any answers please please please tell me. Thank you in advance.

Does head and shoulders actually help remove/fade permanent hair dye?

i’m trying to dye my hair brown (using adore 110 which is a very dark brown). I just bleached my hair but the blue didn’t come out and I don’t think my hair can handle another round. If i just go ahead with the brown will the blue areas look weird? Could i use an orange dye to cancel it out? If so what shade, i’m terrible at color theory.

so last time i dyed my hair i lightly rebleached the parts i had bleached that had faded and then bleached the roots, then put toner on, and then dyed the bleached parts semi permanent pink. the pink faded out extremely fast and now the hair is yellow, if i put toner on the hair and don’t put bleach back over it will the toner actuallt do anything or does it have to be right after bleach?
Here is my natural hair right now and what I want it to become, I don’t want it to be permanent. I’d like it to eventually wash out and have my natural hair color and highlights back. Any recommendations on products?
Included a pic of my hair in some sunlight so you can get a better picture!

Hi so I had the worst hair experience today. This guy said he'd do his best to color match my ends (grown out and faded red dye) to my natural color and he literally just slapped black hair dye on it and I couldn't tell until he dried my hair... I really need advice on how to lighten my hair with damaging it or just as little damage as possible. I just really hate the black on me please help!

Hi guys ! i was wondering whats the best color remover to get like at Sallys for my turquoise hair. i have not added any more dye since like a month and a half now. I dont mind using bleach eventually but i rather try to strip out the blue. Thank you!

I’m sure there are hundreds of videos on this, but I’d rather ask and hopefully get some advice directly. How hard would it be to dye eyebrows a cream color? Cream is my favorite color so I want to try and see if it’s possible. How would I go about it? Any specifics I should worry about? How long do dyed eyebrows last on average?

Hello all! I desperately need help with getting Arctic Fox (colors Wrath + Ritual) out of my hair. Last time I did it was literally a year ago and it’s still lingering, I’m hoping there’s a solution to get the rest out completely. Hopefully without frying my hair.
My natural hair is like a dirty blonde! If something lightens my hair a bit that’s fine by me I really just want the red out.

I had my hair dyed pink (mostly on the ends) and then I went over it with a regular brown dye and then I went in again to get it dyed again and she used a red undertone along with a dark brown to color my hair which is not really what I wanted, My hair naturally is a kind of ashy caramel brown I would say and I just want to kind of cancel out some of the warmth to get a more even grow out as I don’t plan on continuing to dye it this color. I was thinking about trying maybe a hair gloss. Any tips on what I should do?
