Soon after I gave birth to my, so far first and only child, I unfortnately moved into an apartment that has hard water real bad. I'm moving out of it soon to a home with well water. So that should help with my issue over time (I hope).
My hair looked so healthy during and shortly after pregnancy, but I do think hormones or other postpartum bodily changes could have occurred and played a role in my hair quality going downhill. Definitely some shedding and loss immediately afterwards. Maybe 5 or so months postpartum, my hair became excessively oily in the weirdest way, feeling like I was washing a thick syrupy, oily texture out for a while on a daily basis. That gross oiliness stopped after a few months.
I have been using clarifying shampoos since my teens, and all has been well with that. I've used mostly organic shampoos and soaps also since my late teens, and never had any issues.
I did experience really bad hair loss/shedding a few times post 2020 months after getting covid 2 times, and from high stress from living with an abusive ex. That's all I have for other prior hair issue history.
My hair has been struggling for about a year and a half now, and I feel terrible about how I look in public for brief grocery trips, and errands.
Currently my hair just looks so clumpy and damaged and greasy, when it's freshly washed and dried. Sometimes if I brush and comb it a lot right after showering it dries nicely and can look flattering, but hours later looks terrible.
I am looking to get it trimmed and layered. And I would prefer to stick to natural products.
Any topical oils, supplements, collagen products, ?rice water?, dietary changes, natural shampoos or conditioners that could be recommended that might help.
Subtle/low or no fragrance please. My go to products usually have rose, almond, tea tree, or honeysuckle types of scents. I'm not fond of conditioners, but use them on occasion. I'm allergic to mango, so can't have that be an ingredient.
I am receptive and open to feedback, and will hear out and try new products. Just need advice on how to undo the current damage.
I take gentle iron, magnesium, zinc, and B12 daily, or near daily if i'm too distracted and busy some days. I've always been heavily vegetarian leaning.
Sorry my post is a mess, I'm out with my 18 month old at the moment, and he's hyperactive and I'm struggling to focus on my phone.
