IUI success turn surprised twins!!

I found out today at 5 weeks 3 days that I am pregnant with identical twins! One egg that split! One sack is measuring 5 weeks 1 day and the other is measuring 5 weeks 3 days both have fetal poles. Looking to see if anyone experienced similar with one twin being a few days behind. I go back in for repeat ultrasound in 10 days.

Nobody prepares you for this side of trying to conceive. 💔May we all get our little miracles🫂❤️

I never imagined that one day, something as natural as having a baby would become a journey filled with scans, injections, follicle sizes, trigger shots, ovulation tracking, and endless waiting.
Every few days, there’s another appointment, another scan, another thing to worry about. You start learning medical terms you never thought you would need to know. You know your follicle sizes by heart, calculate dates in your head, and plan your days around the hope that this cycle might be different.
And somewhere in between all this, you forget how exhausting it is to be you.
People around you continue with their normal lives, but your mind is constantly occupied with questions. Am I doing enough? Is there something else I should be doing? Why is something I always thought would happen naturally becoming so difficult?
You try to stay hopeful, but some days you just feel angry, frustrated, and sad. Not because you don’t want to keep trying, but because you never imagined you would have to try this hard.
And the hardest part? You still have to wake up, go to work, smile, and carry on as if everything is normal.
To every woman going through IUI, monitoring, injections, and the emotional roller coaster of TTC — I see you. ❤️
If today you feel exhausted, if you cried after an appointment, or after a negative if you’re tired of being strong, or if you simply wish things were easier, you’re not alone.
Sometimes we don’t need advice, success stories, or someone telling us to stay positive.
Sometimes we just need someone who understands without us having to explain.
Sending love to every woman fighting a battle that most people around her may not even know about. May we all get our little miracles, and may this journey be kinder to us. 🫂❤️

SIXTH IUI SUCCESS!

Sharing to give hope to those still waiting!

I cannot believe I am saying these words. Our 6th and final IUI was a success. I have an appointment next week for an IVF consult. I got a very faint line last night at 11dpo. I got a positive digital this morning at 12dpo! I am staying hopeful that this will be a sticky baby! I’ll go for bloodwork today or tomorrow. Waiting to hear back from my clinic.

I conceived my son on our 4th IUI back in 2023 so I was very frustrated to get to #6 this time around.

My first IUI failed today…

Today I found out that my first IUI failed, and honestly, I’m heartbroken. 💔
I’ve spent most of the day crying, and every time I think I’m okay, the tears start falling again.
I knew going into this journey that it might not work the first time. I tried to prepare myself for that possibility, but I don’t think you can ever truly prepare your heart for that negative result when you’ve been holding on to so much hope.
The appointments, the scans, the waiting, the constant overthinking, the excitement of thinking that maybe, just maybe, this would finally be our moment… and then having that hope disappear in a matter of seconds.
I know it’s only my first IUI, and I know there are still other chances, but that doesn’t make today hurt any less.
I think the hardest part is grieving something that never even happened, but that I had already imagined a thousand times in my heart. I had allowed myself to dream about finally seeing those two lines.

Today I’m sad. I’m exhausted. I’m disappointed. And I’m struggling to find the strength to feel hopeful again.

And if you’ve experienced a failed first IUI, how did you find the strength to keep going? Because right now, I could really use a little hope. 🫂💕

What was your medication protocol?

• Upvotes

I have done 3 IUIs. First was successful but ended in MC at 9 weeks. That was on 2.5mg letrozole, no trigger shot, and no monitoring (done at my local OBGYN). I’ve done 2 cycles with 5mg letrozole, both times my lining was 5mm or less and had to do estrogen supplementation. My doctor wanted to just do injectable gonal F or menopur, but we had to find out if my insurance would cover the IUI if injectables were used. Apparently some insurances don’t allow injectables at all. So, the plan has been to do 5mg letrozole followed by gonal F injections. But today I found out that my insurance has no limitations and I can use just injectables. I was able to get the injections overnighted and they will be here tomorrow, which is when I’d have to start taking them. So now I have to decide whether I should just do gonal F + trigger, or if I should do letrozole + gonal F + trigger. My doctor is concerned about doing just gonal F because I have high AMH and there’s a risk my cycle could be cancelled because of too many follicles, but she also said she’s concerned that if I take letrozole at all then my lining would be too thin again. Has anyone done letrozole + gonal F + trigger and had success? Or has anyone used just gonal F + trigger and had success?

IUI #3! This TWW is a torture

• Upvotes

I’m 38 and had my 3rd IUI on 10/5. There were 2 follicles in my left ovary 19mm and 13mm. I triggered on 10/5. I didn’t test my trigger out like I did previous 2 IUIs because I realized it stressed me out. First IUI was success but ended in mcc at almost 8 weeks back in March.

It’s 14dpt today and 12dpiui. I tried not to symptom spot this time and overall tried to stay positive, active and distracted. But on Oct 16 (9dpiui) I felt a very sharp stabbing kind of pain in the evening. It was only on the left side of my pelvis. And lasted like 30min on and off. I haven’t had any cramping since then.

I’m also not getting my normal symptoms/signs of period coming like sore breasts. But I’ve had the following symptoms:

Constipation 10-12dpiui

Nose bleeds/stuffy nose

Increased appetite

Sleepiness/occasional dizziness

Sensitive teeth

Clinic told me to test on 10/22 and it’s becoming harder day by day. I don’t want to test tomorrow and wonder if it’s still a trigger.

Last cycle IUI #2 trigger was in my system for 14 days tricking me to think it was positive.

Has anyone felt any of the above and was pregnant that cycle?

Is this even worth it?

30F, 29M, all normal tests (every doctor has said we are ideal candidates for pregnancy 🫠) and just failed our second IUI. Officially onto cycle 17 in a few days.

Is this even worth continuing? Initially we said we’d try four rounds of IUI before moving to IVF. This second failure has really gotten to me and I’m wondering what’s even the point of two more rounds. I’m mentally in agony and facing another holiday & birthday season without a positive test. I have no hope and no answers.

Curious: what did you do differently/change for successful IUI?

After realising our 1st 2 IUI were done with extremely poor timing, we adjusted the timing in hopes for a better outcome. Sadlly, this was not to be the case. Although I'm confident that we have finally figured out the timing now for future cycles , I'’m wondering what else I can do to optimise!

So I'm really curious abou any of you in similar positions who tried IUI which initially didn't work, but then you got a good outcome. What do you think moved the needle for you? I know people say luck and all of that, but I'm interested in the controllable! There's such little research on IUI, so I'm very curious to hear from people who got a good outcome after changing something or doing something differently.

For context, I have no known fertility/health issues, and realtively good biomarkers. Although when I first started with IUI 1 and 2 several months ago, my ferritin, Vitamin D and folate were a little on the lower side (but I have since given these a boost through supplementation). I am 33 using frozen donor sperm and doing natural cycle as I'm not interested in Ovarian Stimulation or trigger. I've given it good thought, read the research and I'm not convinced. By all accounts, I should be able to conceive naturally and I've gotten good data now on ovulation markers/timing etc. However, I am wondering about the Emma/Alice test ! My gut is telling me I might have an issue with implantation ... and I suppose we don't want to keep throwing money at this without considered thought :)

IUI #3, switching from clomid to letrozole

Hey guys! I have done two IUIs and took clomid. Neither worked. The next two cycles were canceled due to cysts. Someone told me their clinic told them that clomid is known to cause cysts. My clinic said nothing about this. Has anyone heard this or experienced something similar?

Anyways, this month at baseline I had a smaller cyst but was cleared to move forward with IUI #3 today. I requested to try letrozole this time in hopes it would work this time.

Has anyone failed with clomid then switched to letrozole and had success?

DOR Ladies: is it worth trying multiple IUIs instead of IVF?

I have DOR and did one IUI last year that wasn’t successful, but I had two follicles measuring 20 mm at trigger.

This year, I’ve done several IVF cycles, but despite having around 8 follicles right before retrevial, I typically only retrieve 3–5 eggs, with just 1–3 mature. So far, I’ve only gotten one day-5 blast.

I feel like my follicles were more synchronized during IUI (i had 2 that were 20mm) than IVF (I will have about 7-8 follicles but they vary, I have some 20mm, 17mm, 16mm etc, hence why my maturity is so poor), and I’m wondering if multiple IUIs might be worth trying given my IVF results.

Has anyone with DOR had better success with IUI than expected? Does anyone know if IUI has meaningful cumulative success over multiple cycles?

Would you consider trying more IUIs or stick with IVF?

Ladies, how do you handle testing? (13DPIUI today; dreading the test)

Hubby and I have been TTC for 14 cycles. This is our first IUI.

Everything went well, I had one dominant 20 mm follicle, 9.2 mm trilaminar lining, well timed IUI, follicle rupture confirmed etc.

I'm 13DPIUI today. I haven't tested, nor have I tested out the trigger but pretty sure it's gone by now. In cycles I tested it out, it was gone 7-8 days past trigger.

I'm on 200 mg progesterone. I know it's futile to symptom spot but I had a few subtle twinges on 9DPIUI, no implantation spotting or bleeding though. I had a few bouts of gagging, wouldn't say real "nausea", but last night at 12DPIUI I definitely had nausea and threw up once. Nausea lasted about 15 mins and then went away.

Although I've tried SO hard not to, I've let myself get hopeful. I know all of the symptoms can be from progesterone. I also know that progesterone holds off a period, but I usually breakthrough the progesterone and start spotting by 11-12 DPO, albeit that was a lower dose (100 mg). So far, 13DPIUI (correlates to 13DPO as I got a positive at home pdg test day after IUI) absolutely no spotting. But I know I know, it's likely the progesterone.

Anywho, my clinic's instructions are "If no period comes in 2 weeks, take a home pregnancy test." They don't do betas automatically. I guess that also made me feel a little hopeful that I'm not spotting/ bleeding since they say that knowing i'll be on progesterone.

If my period doesn't come today, I'm supoosed to test tomorrow. I'm absolutely DREADING it. Like the thought of a negative has me spiraling. I know that a negative is far more likely, but I can't help but hope/dream about what a positive would be like.

Anyone in a similar boat? How do you handle the dread of testing?

15 cycles TTC, unexplained infertility — is IUI actually worth trying? Looking for some hope.

I'm 30, my husband is 33, and we've just finished our 15th unsuccessful cycle TTC. I had an accidental pregnancy with my husband about 10 years ago, so I never imagined we'd struggle this much to conceive now.

We've had all the fertility testing done, and everything has been relatively normal. I have high AMH and polycystic-appearing ovaries, but no PCOS. I have regular cycles, ovulate naturally, and our diagnosis is essentially unexplained infertility.

We've now done 4 monitored cycles with Ovidrel and timed intercourse (3 with Letrozole). I've responded well, developed mature follicles, and ovulated, but still nothing. My period just arrived, and I think this cycle has hit me harder than any of the others.

My doctor recommends 3 medicated IUIs before moving to IVF, but I'm struggling to understand how much IUI could really improve our chances when I already ovulate, our timing has been good, and my husband's sperm count and motility are strong.

I always imagined I'd be a mom by 30, and now I'm terrified of another year passing like this. I'm emotionally exhausted, and the thought of spending another few months on treatments that might not work is overwhelming.

Has anyone with unexplained infertility and a similar situation actually had success with IUI after failed medicated timed-intercourse cycles? Did you feel it was worth trying before IVF?

I'm just looking for a little hope right now. After 15 cycles, it feels like we're doing everything right and getting nowhere.

Anyone with mild hydrosalpinx and minimal spill on HSG? ? Did you need surgery?

My HSG report
“Left tube: Distal fill, minimal spill, likely hydrosalpinx.”
My doctor prescribed doxycycline afterward. During a later ultrasound, I was told the hydrosalpinx looked mild and might be improving.

I am 32F with low amh 0.8 and I’m currently going through IUI treatments, but I’m wondering whether I should get a second opinion before continuing.
**First iui cycle:** developed 5 mature follicles on right side, so my IUI was canceled due to the risk of multiples.
**Second cycle:** Had fewer follicles in right side, and iui failed.

Doctor is suggesting for surgery to remove my left tube.

Has anyone had similar HSG results? Did your hydrosalpinx improve, or did you need laparoscopy or surgery? Were you able to conceive naturally or through IUI?

Unmedicated IUI - Follicle Scan

Went for my mid cycle follicle scan today CD12 and had one 14mm. I usually ovulate around CD 15, and if that’s the case this cycle, it would only be about 18-20mm IF it grows 2mm every day. Is that a strong enough follicle according to your clinic? Should I be worried?

This is our first IUI attempt and my ultrasound tech seemed like she wished it was a little larger. Will likely try medicated if this one fails but don’t know if I still have a chance this cycle. My lining was almost 8mm on the positive side. Thanks in advance for any input!

Advice on IUI cycle

Hi everyone! ❤️
I’m about to start my 4th IUI cycle, but honestly, I’m starting to lose hope.
My husband (36) and I (34) are both healthy, and all our fertility tests have come back normal. My tubes are open, my bloodwork is normal, and my husband’s sperm parameters are good. We’ve been diagnosed with unexplained infertility.
I’ve heard that after 3 failed IUIs, the chances of success with additional cycles may be lower, which makes me wonder whether continuing is worth it. At the same time, I see many people going on to their 5th or even 6th IUI.
For those of you who continued beyond 3 unsuccessful IUIs, what made you decide to keep going instead of moving on to IVF?
Did your doctor recommend trying a few more cycles? Did you have a good response to the medications, or were there other factors that influenced your decision?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences, especially from those with unexplained infertility. I’m trying to understand what factors helped you decide whether to continue or move on.
Thank you! ❤

Any success with Prednisone, ( with/ Claritin, Pepcid?)

Been tearing up on this and ironically I was prescribed prednisone for a dental issue, my third IUI is next week so I’m wondering if it would be worth a shot to try the Pepcid and Claritin. Anyone had success with a steroid or the combo?

Thin lining cd9 - clomid?

Just had a monitoring scan where they said my lining was thin. They didn’t say the amount out loud, but I’m pretty sure I saw 2.5 on the screen. I’ve never had issues with thin lining. I know Clomid thins it, but is it usually that severe? I have a 17mm follicle so they’re putting me on ganirelix to postpone ovulation and estrace to build up lining. But I’m not feeling good about this cycle. It’s my first one.
