Daily reminder 1: that they have mobile phones, cameras, mirrors and even just water in Mongolia so this isn't the first time she has seen herself. Is Polaroid she is happy to see the image appear.
Daily reminder 2: People are stupid....like really stupid, this is probably how you found out don't worry welcome to human race we are all very stupid its why we have science.

This video has the same icky energy as influencers who visit a “village in Africa” where apparently the people there have never done anything whatsoever and every child in a 100 mile radius is increasingly more poor than the last lmao.
Such false and odd information to allude to. You’d think the people filming such content had some kind of superiority complex🙄

I mean she might not have seen a Polaroid of her self before, but you are probably right about everything else

u/yodelissimo 16h ago
It's a polaroid, she's amazed staring at the photo while it's transitioning to a fully captured shot.
176
u/Rasberrycello 15h ago
I was gonna say, it's Mongolia, not Mars. They have smart phones and everything. She's not amazed by the photo, she's enjoying the development of an older tech she's not seen before, just like any kid would.
57
u/Top-Valuable-153 15h ago
Just about to say a lot of my family still live in Mongolia they have tech it’s not so much common in it’s rural areas of course but they know what the internet and phones are making us sound like we got on earth yesterday 😭
7
u/Everyones-Grudge 15h ago
How do u know they don't have smart phones on Mars? Did you go there recently?
2
u/DukeMancannon 12h ago
Na mate. They traveled back to the 1300s and that child is Khan’s mother right before he grew up to kill Spock.
1
u/kiritoonis 4h ago
To be fair at this age everyones at an awe when looking at photos of themselves. Especially actually "developed"/ physical ones.
-13
u/HarrMada 15h ago
Complete conjecture. That sounds so corny btw, "actually guys she just appreciates old tech more". You have no idea if it's the development of the photo or the photo itself that captures her interest.
30
u/dumaa 14h ago
Mongolian here. We have photos and smartphones, we know what those are, even in the countryside. It is absolutely likely that she just enjoys seeing the transition, like any kid unaccustomed to polaroid would be.
-4
18
u/No-Background8462 14h ago
You are an idiot if you believe people in Mongolia dont have smartphones and dont know what a photo is.
-3
u/HarrMada 12h ago
Putting words into my mouth. My point is that you actually have no idea. And you don't. Now be quiet.

It's not a Polaroid, it's an Instax
3
2
u/Mstakrakish 6h ago edited 6h ago
It's like Kleenex and Google.
Polaroid is synonymous with instant photo development because they were the first to do it. Relatively few called it instax back in the 90s when it was released.

Innocent girl. May you smile like this for ever. Time is too cruel always snatched these innocent smiles em afraid
64
u/Noble_Jerk 15h ago
Isn't that what we all want? To keep that smile forever? Like an infinite sea of smile? Stop hearing noises, stop feeling pain, stop thinking of stupid insignificant things, cry with joy.
22
u/Aware_Masterpiece_92 13h ago
Smiles are contagious, if you smile to others, even if you are not happy, they might smile back to you, and this could bring you to truly smile

People in Mongolia have cameras and phones…
69
u/EndOne8313 13h ago
This. They're not uncontacted tribes. In fact many of them are performative tourist traps. The actual herders use quad bikes and 4x4s and wear Levi's.
18
u/Sufficient_Food1878 10h ago
Yeah this reminds me of Skai Jackson telling ppl that the children in Kenya was so excited going on her phone because it was "their first times seeing their own reflections!". I think a lot of people think these nations have no phones/anything. I've been to some of thw poorest 3rd world countries in rural areas and ppl still have phones lol

I’ve noticed as I’ve got older just how much kids make me smile.
When I was younger I never really thought much about it, but now I’m nearly 30 I find their innocence really heartwarming.
Funny how that changes with age, haha.
58
u/BonolotaSen23 16h ago edited 15h ago
When we were young, we wanted to grow old and now we want to be that child again.
18
u/Ill-Personality178 12h ago
Funny how we spent childhood wishing we were adults, only to grow up and miss being a kid again.
3
u/DuckWithBrokenWings 6h ago
I'm autistic with ADHD, being a kid was an absolute nightmare. I really appreciate being an adult with control over my own life.
1
u/musiquescents 10h ago
I miss it everyday. And I think more and more of the times I was a child.
2
u/randmbull 8h ago
it only gets worse as u grow older. When you're middle aged you'll miss being 20s. Then when you're old you'll miss being middle aged. And finally when you're geriatric and can feel death approaching, you'll miss being alive and well irrespective of age
1
u/Alternative_Jury_540 6h ago
Yeah I can feel how the progression of age is a merging of being a kid teenager and whatever I was as an adult into something combining all those elements and I’m not really enjoying how my head is unravelling and I’m thinking of mortality, children how I’m living and dying alone my habits are killing me and how limited, selfish, awful people are including myself.
I preferred it when I didn’t know anything and was accepting of wherever I was on the sociopathic spectrum and had zero self awareness.
Growing up to then fall apart mentally like a wet cake is not an enriching experience so far.
30 is going to be the peak off the edge I’m sure pahahah.
Especially as all of my twenties I basically just bummed around.1

I swear, getting older really does change your perspective because suddenly the little things kids do are actually adorable. I used to wonder what the fuss was about, and now they can make my whole day without even trying.
3
u/Successful_Cookie594 10h ago
I get this so much! The older I get, the more I appreciate their little personalities and the random things they say. Kids are honestly funnier than people give them credit for.
2
u/Odd-Jupiter 10h ago
My nieces are at the perfect age where spending time with them is just one huge rollercoaster ride without breaks.
Last night their grandpa had a dramatic fall, and we were worried how they would handle it.
Now they are fighting over who gets to play the nurse, and who gets to play Grandpa crawling around helpless on the ground. And i can't stop belly laughing.
1
u/Alternative_Jury_540 6h ago
Nawww. I have nieces as well they’re identical twins and absolute little $hits. 🤣
They’re lovely but they’re spoilt and need a good slap.2
u/danthemanfrompak 7h ago
I was looking for opinions of kids having fun on Halloween. Most people hated having kids knock at their doors for candy. My only defense was they’re just kids having fun.
1
u/Alternative_Jury_540 7h ago
Agreed leave em be.
We didn’t even do Halloween in the UK when I was a kid.
Was considered too American and people didn’t really bother.
Now everyone does it lol.
I went around in a Darth Vader helmet in a T-shirt because I didn’t have anything else.3
u/Mysterious_Music1492 15h ago
Yeah, you’re ancient now lol!
2
u/Alternative_Jury_540 15h ago
Bloody feel it mate knees are clicking it’s all over! 🤣
5
u/Wangpasta 14h ago
Went to yoga for the first time the other day. Teacher said to get on your knees for child pose. As I went down my knees clicked so loud 6 people dove for cover to escape the gunfire
1
u/Scared-Leopard2342 11h ago
Not you turning a peaceful yoga class into an action movie in the first five minutes. Those knees said nobody’s getting through this wellness journey without a little drama.
2
u/JasonSmithston 12h ago
Nonsense. You don't have knees

I feel like getting older makes you appreciate the little things about kids that you were too impatient to notice before. Funny how something that used to annoy you can suddenly become the sweetest thing.

AJ5, that is an instinctive thing you're feeling. You should find the girl or guy you can work with (not necessarily the one you most want to have sex with) and get to having kids. You will regret it at times, but at the end of your life with grandchildren (and maybe great-grandchildren) grateful to you for giving them life, you will not regret it.
1
u/Alternative_Jury_540 7h ago
Have to find them attractive too I think.
If you don’t want someone it’s hard to be passionate.
All of my girlfriends have been better looking and good looks don’t really change much unless you treat them like they’re above you.
If you don’t care, they don’t care a lot of the time.
You’ve got to have things in common though.
It’s finding those people who you can be open with and they’re not going to make you feel like you’re being choked when you do so.
Whole opposites attract stuff is nonesense propaganda from people in terrible relationships.
If you’ve got nothing to talk about they can be the sexiest person in the world and you won’t give a single shit when you realise you’re alone in your relationship, it’s all on you and you were tricked by a pretty face/good body and your own idiotic p3nis.
(I’ve just come out of a miserable relationship and I’m slightly st0n3d) 🤣0

Polaroid cameras are amazing for this. On multiple occasions while travelling, I've been asked by someone to take a picture, but had no way to give it to them (nowadays people sometimes exchange numbers, but I've been in areas where that's not possible).
The issue is buying and travelling with them, the Instax stuff is kinda bulky and pricey (I'm a student), and Polaroid film is relatively expensive. Maybe when I have more money.
11
u/widelenskelp 15h ago
There are Instax cameras with that can print the photos you take in-camera and also photos that you take on your phone (linked with Bluetooth). Or separate photo printers that print phone-captured photos. But, I agree—the cost of the film definitely adds up.
2
u/frameslashpage 14h ago
I went looking for the original photo on the photographer’s Instagram, and it looks like this was printed with an Instax printer, based on how a story was tagged. Some other nice videos there as well. I’m assuming the photo was taken with her primary camera and then sent to the printer.
2
u/FrostyD7 6h ago
They do sell standalone printers. But Instax cameras are just printers with a built in camera. I can print photos I take with it or send it from my phone.
4
u/Annie_Yong 13h ago
Yeah, Instant photography isn't a cheap hobby (neither is film photography in general!) to get into.
Polaroid is definitely worst. Their i-type film for the newer cameras comes out to over £2 a photo! Instax is definitely better for this where the wide format is 95p a shot. You can sometimes get it in bulk though. At my wedding we set up a photo booth with one of the Instax wide cameras and I lucked out because boots were having a sale and also had 50-pack bundles on the film in stock. Ended up with about 200 photos averaging 80p a shot!

u/bananadepartment 13h ago
It's not a Polaroid, it's an Instax
1
u/Champaign-Burps 8h ago
I stand corrected. Polaroids are overpriced, and in Mongolian terms I expect an Intax is also a waste of money.

She's definitely seen herself in a photograph. Mobile phones have basically 100% penetration worldwide and they pretty much all have cameras in them now.
9
u/konstantin19911 14h ago
I haven't seen a Рolaroid for a long time either.
3
u/JasonSmithston 13h ago
You're about to get corrected about it not being a Polaroid by someone who possibly works for the company that isn't Polaroid.
1
u/konstantin19911 11h ago
In Russia, polaroid is a household name for all instant photo printing cameras.

u/BenchConscious1003 13h ago
Saw that smile on the faces of parents in China.(1985) ) One of our group had a polaroid camera and took photos of their children.
China was only just starting to open up to tourists. Children were fascinated by my full beard, and wanted to touch it. Their parents seemed embarassed, but I didn't mind.
It was on that trip that I saw two little old ladies with bound feet hobbling along. I had read about it of course, but had to see it before I had an emotional reaction..

This is truly beautiful. It makes you think about how we take photos for granted now, but for her, this is pure magic and discovery.
0
u/MandelbrotFace 11h ago
So true isn't it. I think about this a lot. The ability to freeze time with a photo or record and listen to sound are both relatively recent 19th century inventions. I wish I took more pictures as a kid.

1

Why sad?

Because she doesn't have pictures of herself of her earlier ages, like when she was a baby.
