How many samples were used? Is it a single individual?

This isn’t MapPorn, no legend and no methodology. Also the pictures are grainy.

This is an average of 10 Palestinian Muslims from Gaza.

Disclaimer: This post has no intent to present itself as a scientific truth nor is it part or taken from any paper. The DNA Similarity Heatmap tool is for presentation purposes and produced using data from Global 25 project by Eurogenes, thus having their accuracy determined within Global25 limits and sample availability.

Max distances: first map = 0.20, all others = 0.10

This is based on 10 people?

-11

u/Own-Internet-5967 8h ago

Yes, it is based on the average of 10 Palestinians from Gaza

u/jellacle 7h ago

I don’t know much about genetics but 10 doesn’t seem like a big sample size.

5

u/Own-Internet-5967 7h ago

This is a bigger sample size of 84 Palestinian Muslims from various regions of Palestine: https://postimg.cc/n9My1WTV

Thank you! Is there any knowledge about how people end up being chosen for these kinda of samplings? Can’t be randomized, I assume people come at the provider and give their samples proactively?

5

u/Own-Internet-5967 7h ago

These are mostly Gazan Palestinians who live in Western countries and are able to take DNA tests such as 23andme and Ancestry, hence the small number of samples. I am not sure about how they end up being chosen for these kind of samplings though.

They are the indigenous  people of the land? Why are you in disbelief?

18

u/Syndiotactics 8h ago

I’m not in any kind of disbelief about anything, I just have to question the data if it hasn’t been declared.

Same applies for every other subject matter, but especially in genetics because people tend to post trivial sample size one maps without knowing what they actually mean.

1

u/waffleisland 1h ago

Native and indigenous are not the same. This is pure blood quantum. What cultural or religious connection do they have?

People have been traversing the Mediterranean long before Rome was a thing.

But it’s about the same as northern Italy and the Balkans?

Even before that, what this heat map indicates is general Mediterranean genetic proximity mainly through ANF migration well during the Stone Age (Neolithic to be exact )

Oh this should be fun… 🍿

The downvotes lmao this sub is beyond cooked

6

u/pierrebrassau 4h ago

Downvotes because the point of this sub is to post high quality and informative maps. This map is blurry, has no information on sources or methodology, and is based on a tiny sample size of ten people who don’t even live in Gaza as OP has stated elsewhere in the thread.

If you want a low quality propaganda sub, go somewhere else, there are plenty of options.

Tracking DNA will only have positive results, right? Nothing bad will ever come from mapping human DNA and putting up borders people can’t cross. The future is going to be great, right?

1

u/7thpostman 4h ago

This. It is profoundly ironic that people who complain the loudest about an "ethnostate" are also the ones who talk about DNA determining where people should be allowed to live.

4

u/pierrebrassau 4h ago

They don’t really complain about other ethnostates… just one specific one.

1

u/7thpostman 4h ago

Accurate. They complain about an "ethnostate" that's 20% Arab.

DNA testing of Jews… I did Nazi this coming!

2

u/Tenchi_Muyo1 8h ago

Bibi's bots incoming

3

u/BeriasBFF 5h ago

Jews are 20 million, Jew haters are in the billions. Which one has more bots? Hm…

Why are ppl downvoting this? Do they really think the IRGC doesn't have a huge propaganda network?

Honestly reddit discourse has just gotten awful since last year, you can't discuss anything without immediate accusations of bots and brigading downvotes

There's even a recent piece (picked up by CNN) about the IRGC using AI to plant fake stories: https://edition.cnn.com/2026/10/08/politics/iranian-operatives-used-ai-to-plant-fake-stories-in-us-media?Date=20261008&Profile=cnni&utm_content=1791496457&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

Here's an example of an AI-generated article picked up by "LA Progressive" https://www.laprogressive.com/foreign-policy/the-jared-kushner-question

Antrophic did a piece on AI generated propaganda by both the IR and MEK: https://www.anthropic.com/threat-intelligence-report-september-2026

7

u/pierrebrassau 5h ago

People are downvoting it because they don’t want to admit to themselves that they’ve been brainwashed by Iranian propaganda.

7

u/drhuggables 5h ago

The amount of time I--an Iranian--have been accused of being an Israeli or MAGA bot simply because I am anti-IRGC/mullah and shoot down their propaganda is genuinely astounding. hell, the r/iran subreddit literally was taken over by IRGC bots (seriously, they changed the flag and everything) and actual spaces for iranians like r/newiran and r/persian had to enact "iranians only" restrictions for several months due to the amount of brigading we got

2

u/Fecklessexer 7h ago

More like “Top 1% ContribuTRON”

1

u/ComfortableCoconut41 4h ago

Oh boy, you should have your ball cut off for spreading israel propaganda. Ready?

3

u/JohnnieTango 6h ago

Oh come on, people who post pro-Israel messages generally are people who have pro-Israel sentiments, not bots. Dismissing people who disagree with you as bots is disrespectful and frankly a shabby attempt to discredit those who disagree with you.

-9

u/iflfish 6h ago

Well, not "disrespectful" when they are not even open to discussion. Just check out the r/Israel sub.

4

u/JohnnieTango 5h ago

I actually find it insulting when my opinion is dismissed as that of a bot, like "your opinion is so foolish that only the Israeli Government could possibly hold it..." Yes, there are some Israeli Government efforts (along with a lot of others), but it is kinda offensive to describe all or even most of posts supportive of Israel as Israeli Government efforts.

-1

u/ComfortableCoconut41 4h ago

BOT can also refer to a mindless individual, posting online bullshit, eg “israel is not committing genocide in Gaza.” I say, let’s wind down israel and put bibi to death 😂

1

u/Successful-Party-367 4h ago

Absolutely 💯

0

u/waffleisland 2h ago

How ironic. What is the evidence for special intent, the burden of proof required for genocide? I read the UN report; have you? I bet not.

0

u/ComfortableCoconut41 1h ago

You’re following Hitler steps, and you’re proud of it. You will be de-zionied soon.

2

u/waffleisland 1h ago

Don’t you people ever find it interesting that you pray for a nation to suffer genocide just because you think they did one themselves, with no actual evidence for it?

3

u/EnvironmentalBuy9510 8h ago

If this is real Palestinians could be descendants of Samaritans, Gassainid Arabs, Idumeans, Judeans, Nabateans, Phoenicians.

63

u/RedOnesEnjoyer 8h ago

Shocking that they’d be descendants of the people in the same neighborhood they’re in.

25

u/Syndiotactics 8h ago

Not ”could”, just about every population group in a region is a descendant of every prior population group in the region unless every single member of the previous population was wiped out before reproduction.

This is also why every European is a descendant or Charlemagne.

A bulk of Muslim Palestinians were Jewish Christian converts after the Islamic Conquest. The Samaritans were mostly decimated by the Byzantines after bloody as hell revolts and Jews rarely converted to early Islam, preferring to emigrate or stick to their own communities instead.

11

u/Kappalonia 3h ago

Really? Wow who would have thought that Palestinians who lived in the same spot are descendants from people who lived in the same spot? /s

7

u/Sad_Macaroon_456 6h ago

Heck, you go back far enough there evidence the ancient Philistines (who became the Palestinians) originally were Greek and came to the area around Gaza after the bronze age collapse.

6

u/omry1526 3h ago

the ancient Philistines (who became the Palestinians)

This is just completely false, you even contradict it a second later when you correctly point out Philistine remains were Mycenaean Greeks.

4

u/Sad_Macaroon_456 3h ago

Nah people left Greece and settled in what is today Gaza and southern Israel

1

u/Comfortable_String32 3m ago

Aren't the Gazans a bit different to the Palestinians in west bank? This isn't meant to be inflammatory or anything, just want someone with a Palestinian background to chime in and tell me I'm wrong or not

1

u/IsoldeInInk 1h ago

No, philistines did not become palestinians but they named the area yes because they controlled the havens.

1

u/Sad_Macaroon_456 49m ago

They didn't pass culture down or anything but they're the genetic descendants

1

u/IsoldeInInk 42m ago

No, the philistines were greek.

1

u/Sad_Macaroon_456 34m ago

Yes, around 1200bc

1

u/wastingvaluelesstime 3h ago

Or those cultures' predecessor, or those that came before those, etc. There's no rule that says historical records must survive or that those that do survive are the relevant ones to attribute everything in a map like this.

1

u/IsoldeInInk 1h ago

Palestinian christians are among the closest match to ancient Israelites (Palestine became muslim very slowly and was very Christian during the crusades). Christians didn’t intermix at all (well, slightly with crusaders, but that’s a few percent) and muslims intermixed more (but not much). Gazans are the ones that differ the most actually.

So yes, this is true.

1

u/Comfortable_String32 5m ago

I mean, people post their DNA results on Reddit and yeah it pretty much comes up with what you wrote lol,

0

u/MonsterRider80 5h ago

Big if true.

0

u/adamadamada 8h ago

Is this for palestinian arabs only, or all palestinians?

10

u/Own-Internet-5967 8h ago

Its Palestinian Muslims from Gaza

1

u/IsoldeInInk 1h ago

Gazan muslims.

1

u/Goemon_64 7h ago

Is this where they went or where they came from?

1

u/wastingvaluelesstime 4h ago

yes. These kind of maps often show things that happened before recorded history (as in 5000 years ago). The people involved had concerns, languages, religions etc entirely lost to us.

1

u/Goemon_64 2h ago

The question is does this represent where gazans came from (origins) vs where they later migrated, unclear from the title.

1

u/happy_trabulsy 46m ago

it's a measurement of Gazans DNA against other people DNA

spoiler alert: People of Gaza are native levantine people and share close DNA with other levantine groups like Lebanese, Jordanian, Syrian, etc..

u/NovelCar5453 8h ago

I'm surprised that Poland Belarus and Ukraine aren't bright red /s

Interesting visualization, but needs clarification on sources.
