Other topic Just got rejected from 4 places because of my hijab 🫶🏼🫶🏼💗💗💗💗

• Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum! I hope you all are doing great!
I just got rejected from 4 places because of my hijab 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
I wanted to work at a donut shop first, but I knew they would reject me, so I applied to some drugstores and a super market. And they ALL rejected me because YES the hijab is soooooo unhygienic and I’ll scare the customers away 🫶🏼🫶🏼💕💕💕💕💕🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

It’s not like I didn’t know, Japan is sooo Islamophobic. This is so pathetic. The hijab is getting in the way of EVERYTHING I do 🫶🏼
Maybe I’m being punished because my intentions aren’t pure?

Familymart made it official that Hijabi’s are allowed to work there, and I know I shouldn’t be complaining and whining buttttt

Other teenage girls are having the time of their life working at an ice cream shop, donut shop, drugstores and here I am! At a convenience store 😇
They’re going to the beach, to Disneyland, to karaoke, to festivals and here I am! In my room! Alone! 😇

I wish I wore it later. I can’t make friends. Everyone hates me. I can’t go out just like that because I need a whole hour to do my makeup and hijab. I can’t only wear the same clothes because I’m fat 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
I’d take it off but I’ll be judged for that too! Yup my intentions aren’t pure 😇 That’s why I’m being punished! I’m not being rewarded for anything and I’m just suffering like that 💗💗💗💗💕💕💕💕💕

Love this!

Does this happen in Canada etc too?

Other topic China is committing genocide in East Turkistan. There are hundreds of witnesses like this one.

At an event organized by the group "Stop Uyghur Genocide" at the Yunus Emre Institute in London, Gülbahar Haitiwaji told the audience: "The Chinese government thought they could manipulate us into abandoning our faith. But the more they persecuted us, the more we prayed."

In 2021, she published a book in which she recounts—with measured yet harrowing language—the three-year ordeal she endured in a Chinese state-run camp, a facility designed to "crush one’s spirit and cause one to vanish without a trace." Her goal was to break free from the nightmares of those years, but, more importantly, to inform the world about what is happening to the Uyghurs. Her book, How I Survived a Chinese Re-Education Camp, has been translated into 14 languages.

Bitter Winter had visited her family in early 2019—a time marked by an anxious silence following her disappearance, during which rumors circulated that she had been sentenced to seven years in prison.

It was not until two years after her return to Paris—her home in exile—that she finally found the strength to put the horrors she had experienced into writing. Initially, she wrote with hesitation, choosing to keep her name hidden. However, she soon realized that by focusing solely on protecting her own family, she would be unable to help the women she had left behind. She felt she had no choice but to reveal her identity and speak out.

Since then, she has continued to make her voice heard. Speaking to Bitter Winter before the event, she explained that every time she recounts her experiences, there is a personal cost. Each retelling transports her back to her cell; the years of profound suffering, deprivation, sleep deprivation, and nightmares come flooding back. Yet, every pang of pain he feels while recounting his experiences in public also carries the sense that he is speaking on behalf of those silenced and “disappeared” fellow citizens—people with whom he endured months of senseless political indoctrination and gratuitous torture. He has regained his freedom. Thousands of others remain inside.

Discussion Is women feet awrah

• Upvotes

I am a born Muslim female, im having a moment were Im confused as to why we cover our feet while we pray. Ive been doing it since forever but im not understanding how a womens feet is considered awrah.

In surah nur it says to "And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss" aya 24:31.

Yet back in the times of the prophets era socks weren't invented and abayas didn't cover up to ur toes, and they wore sandals. Let's say they took a shawl to cover their feet but with the movements of praying the shawl would shift around and we shouldn't be making unnecessary movement or be distracted so now im really tryna understand where this whole notion of women have to cover their feet yet for men its not fard. It's not written in the Quran or in any hadiths that I know of.

Im curious since one day I was about to pray at home and I forgot my socks and my cousin said oh u shouldn't pray without ur feet covered and I was like oh yah thanks I forgot, that was a year ago and today I was about to pray and I forgot my socks again and even with my prayer abaya my feet is still seen. Im genuinely curious since I did some internet searches and found out its not fard for men but it is for women and this got me thinking

Where did this even come from.

Feeling Blessed Struggling has never made more sense Alhumdulillah

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu my brothers and sisters. This is just a post to let things off my chest.

I (M28) have been ready for marriage for a few years now but have only started actively searching a year ago. It has been nothing but embarassment and disappointment so far. Alhumdulillah my parents are searching while I'm looking for avenues where I could find a potential spouse. I'm not talking about Muzzmatch or any disliked way, just avenues where a family member is looking to get their daughter/sister etc married. I'm in Canada by myself and haven't had any luck, I'm too shy to directly talk to a girl or her relatives about this, but have informed the Imam of a few mosques I frequent, but nothing yet. My parents have gotten a few proposals but those seem to end abruptly. SubhanAllah I have no idea where things are going wrong. Tried to join a few Facebook groups but nobody there has ever responded either. Until a few weeks ago, it was really disheartening to realize I was putting myself out there for nothing. While I still look for a spouse, I realized a lot of other brothers and sisters are also struggling with this exact same problem.

Alhumdulillah, I'm earning well and in good health by the grace of Allah, but the things I'm aiming for, personally and professionally have not gone to plan at all, but I'm earning well Alhumdulillah. Things don't seem to be going the way I hope and plan for, but Alhumdulillah I'm not struggling or distressed about any of it except getting married. It's hard to explain what I'm going through, but I know that I'm not distressed or hopeless Alhumdulillah. It is definitely concerning that I'm lonely, but I'm not worried or anything. I don't know how to explain it. Thanks for reading a conclusion-less post.

May Allah grant all of us struggling His mercy and His blessings. Aameen! Take care. Assalamualaikum

Discussion Looking for some hope / advice from older people (35+)

I'm 39M Pakistani and an immigrant in Canada. My wife (also a Pakistani) is a medical resident in California and I live in Ontario. Unfortunately, in December 2025 I caught my wife cheating on me. I had a feeling something was going on and snooped through her phone when she was visiting me which validated everything I had suspected. We have no kids and unfortunately never even lived together.

Needless to say, it is over between myself and her. I don't have any family in Canada and barely any friends. Over the course of this year, I've become very isolated and only focused on work. Alhamdullilah, I have a good job. I work in tech at FAANG and make great money. I didn't even apply for this job, it just landed infront of me. This - along with my father - are the only two good things in my life at this point. My mother died in 1992 of suicide, so I only have one parent.

What really paralyzes my thoughts is when I think about my future, I see absolutely nothing. I don't see a family, or friends or anyone. Are there any stories of people here who started over in their 40s? Had a wonderful family and a great life?

I find myself praying that whatever decision is to be made for me is good for this life and the hereafter – and that helps, but the feeling returns so fast and I feel so paralyzed.

Support/Advice Im glad im muslim but I hate being a convert.

I am actually going to lose my mind, I hate being a convert so much I cant put it in words. I hate my life. I hate my family and will NEVER forgive them for all they've done to me and i put that on God. The first year after saying the shahada wasnt bad, but ever since late 2025 I feel like my life has been terrible, Any one of these days my family is gonna catch me praying again and the cycle will start all over, I know that because its been too long since I was last caught. I am tired of my family, every day is a nightmare with them, even hearing my mom's voice starts to stress me out because I KNOW it'll just turn into an argument, they grounded me for MONTHS for practicing my faith! Just because Im not athiest they have threatened to disown me, ever since that fateful day back in August of last year my mental health has been on a huge decline, i used to be confident, popular, and happy, now im paranoid and angry. I just dont know what to do. Im not in any danger at all, but being disowned is very much a possibility.

Discussion Seeking Advice: Navigating Raising Children in Europe according to Islamic Values

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

Alhamdulillah, my family and I have a stable life here in Europe, and we are incredibly grateful for the security and opportunities we have. However, since the birth of our child, my perspective has shifted significantly. I find myself increasingly concerned about the long-term spiritual and social environment our little one will grow up in.

I am reaching out to this community to hear how other parents are navigating these challenges, and to ask for your practical advice, suggestions, or coping mechanisms. Specifically, I am reflecting on the following points:

  1. Halal Meat Integrity (Zabiha): It is difficult to find absolute certainty regarding how meat is slaughtered here, given the strict local regulations regarding stunning/electric shock before slaughter. How do you handle this? Do you stick to trusted local butchers, organic certifications, or specific import brands?
  2. Cultural & School Exposure: Children in public schools are heavily exposed to un-Islamic or Christian-rooted celebrations like Halloween, Christmas events, and secular school societies. While we teach right from wrong at home, the daily peer exposure is massive. How do you handle school events without isolating your child socially?
  3. Open Secular Values & LGBTQ+ Curriculums: Modern European societies openly promote lifestyles and relationship models that directly contradict Islamic ethics, often introducing these concepts very early in school. How do you talk to your children about these topics while preserving their Haya (modesty) and Islamic worldview?
  4. The Dilemma of Moving Back (Hijrah): I often think about whether we should sacrifice our stable Dunya (worldly life) here and migrate back to a Muslim country for the sake of our child's Deen. However, home countries are currently facing severe financial pressure, peak inflation, and their own waves of un-Islamic influences and fitna. If we must sacrifice financial stability for Deen, is it worth it? Or is it wiser to stay in Europe and fortify our children's faith internally?

I would love to hear your experiences, book recommendations, or community initiatives that have helped your families.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan! Let’s support each other in this journey of Tarbiyah.

Question Haram relationship

• Upvotes

Marrying someone from a past haram relationship?

I'm trying to give my sister some advice but I'm unsure myself.

She didn't commit zina technically but was in a secret relationship with a guy at her school.

They would text, talk on the phone etc my parents didn't allow my sisters to really hang out at any friend's house so they wouldn't see each other except at school. He was older and in a different section.

After I explained dating is haram they broke up. He moved on but my sister always felt a sense of embarrassment and shame for dating someone.

She's older now and in college still living with our parents and I have since married and live on my own.

My sister has spoken to a few potentials but nothing has worked out. She thinks she ruined her life by dating and committing a sin.

She told me that guy happened to reach out to her and said he feels bad about how he used her and hurt her back then. He wants to get to know her now that they are older and wants to take things seriously and he thinks they have a lot in common etc

I say he shouldn't be trusted.

My sister is still hurt and feels shame for what happened with him and she hasn't done the same thing since then.

It doesn't look like she wants to give him another chance. Just wanted to know other people's take on this. It's not usually a good idea to "go back" to someone who caused such problems. However what if he has changed or she can't meet anyone due to this past.

Support/Advice My parents do not approve of the girl I love.

• Upvotes

I (18M, university student, part-time teacher) love a girl (21F, university student, part-time teacher) who is older than me, and my parents do not approve of her.

Before we got to know each other, she was in an almost 2-year long engagement, where her fiancé abused her mentally, emotionally, and physically. After she broke off the engagement, she fell into a depressive spiral which led to her attempting suicide.

Now, Alhamdulillah, she is mentally much more stable. We are both aware of our feelings for each other. Her parents and elder siblings know about me and approve of me, but my parents do not approve of her due to her past relationship and suicide attempt.

Last night, my parents have gave me an ultimatum - cut her off, or leave the house. I love my parents, but I do not want them to control my life. Even if I wanted to choose the latter, I would have nowhere to go. I make minimum wage as an underpaid trainee, and won’t be able to support myself financially, let alone the both of us. I have tried to reason with my parents, but they are still very much against that idea as they think that she is mentally unstable and will ruin my life. I cannot bring myself to give up on this girl.

I’ve been in a relationship before, but I have never felt such respect/admiration for anyone this strongly. Life has not been kind to this girl, and I care for her deeply, and I want to show her the kindness and affection that others haven’t been able to.

Please give me advice on what to do. I’m lost. Jazakallah.

Discussion Non Muslim

This can be deleted if not allowed.

I’ve never been super religious I do believe in god but never had a true calling to any of the abrahamic religions. Now im heavily considering Islam.

Now my question to you all. Is this common or wrong? Picking a religion cause of a girl? When I say this it’s because I met a girl. She’s from Afghanistan and she’s been teaching me a lot about Islam and the culture. Over the last 4-5 months of us talking. I’m falling in love with her and the culture and religion.

To give context. Im 22 and German I immigrated to the US when I was a kid. Is there gonna be challenges or hardships I’ll face? Im just searching for knowledge and guidance and this seems like a safe place to turn to after reading some of the other threads in here

Support/Advice My brother (17) has apparently left Islam and is getting involved in Paganism and witchcraft. I don't know what to do.

Hi everyone,

I recently learned from a family member that my younger brother (17), has apparently left Islam. From what I've been told, he's been struggling with his faith and befriended an atheist at school who introduced him to some books and ideas about religion. He has since apparently decided that he no longer believes in Islam. He's also become very interested in alternative spirituality, paganism, and witchcraft, following content about these things online and discussing them openly with friends.

I don't know the full extent of his involvement or whether he's actually practicing any of these things. Part of me wonders whether this is a phase of curiosity and self-discovery, but I also recognize that he may genuinely believe in these ideas.

I'm worried about him from an Islamic perspective, but also about his well-being, the possibility of exploitation or unhealthy influences, and how this could affect our family.

I currently live away from my family, and my brother doesn't know that I'm aware of any of this. I haven't told our parents because I'm concerned about how they might react. I don't want to make things worse or damage his trust in me.

I want to talk to him, understand his doubts, and hopefully help him reconsider some of these beliefs. But I don't know how to approach the conversation, especially because I've experienced religious doubts myself and don't necessarily have all the answers.

I love my brother, and I don't want to condemn him, force him into anything, or push him away. But I also don't want to ignore something that could potentially harm him.

Has anyone experienced something similar? How should I approach him? Should I speak with him before involving our parents? And how can I have a meaningful conversation about faith when I don't have all the answers myself?

Support/Advice I did Istikhara and received my answer FAST and now i need advice

A bit of backstoy:

I started having feelings towards her a few months back. It was to a point where every prayers, her name will always be in my dua. I then confessed to her but she kindly rejected me and even though it hurts, we still remained as friends.

I chose to wake up for Tahajjud almost every single day without the alarm even setting off. I made my dua and talked to Allah SWT as if he is directly infront of me about how I felt and how much I care about her. Slowly I improved myself, making sure my prayers is on time and getting rid of my sinful addictions. I felt good knowing pursuing her resulting in me getting closer to Allah.

But things got harder after we made friends with a guy from work. After a month or so she told me she has a crush on him but she prefers to be approached first. They did talked but nothing happened afterwards.

Now I feel like doing tahajjud hasn't had any progress and I started reading on Istikhara. So I planned on praying Istikhara which was last week. I was SO nervous knowing that i might or can receive answers doing it. Last Sunday I did Istikhara after Isha and then it happened. Roughly an hour later, their social media have similar profile picture. Me being delusional, ignored it and continue to wake up for tahajjud next day. Yesterday was like THE punch in the face because they informed me that they are now together. I do feel happy for them and im glad they even told me.

But now what? After months of Tahajjud I didnt get the result that I wanted. I do feel like I wasted my time even waking up for Tahajjud. Do I just dont do Tahajjud anymore? Its hard because she's the person that changes me into getting closer to Allah. I need advice.

Question Do i have to bring this up on my own?

Salam,
Im currently looking for a bride. Unfortunately ive had a bad past and had committed zina. Im repenting and will not go into those details now.
My question is, when i meet a potential and ask her deal breakers, what if she doesn’t mention anything?
Ofc if she tells she wants a guy with no past, i will def not go ahead with that proposal. But if she doesn’t mention anything related to this as a dealbreaker what do i do? Should i specify this and ask if it’s a dealbreaker or do i ignore and go ahead?

Support/Advice How To Help Who Doesnt Want Help

I (28F) recently had a big fight with my sibling (25F). It was mostly about her lifestyle and how she doesn't take her career seriously. It started with advice but turned into a confrontation because she really doesn't accept any point of view other than hers. She took up a disrespectful attitude, then started crying and screaming, and I admit that I did knowingly irk her at the end by smiling at her, which caused her to leave mid-convo. I should note that this was a first for me.

She has been in a number of toxic relationships and has been financially irresponsible, accruing huge debt over luxury and gaming. She refuses to have a deep conversation with me or any of our parents or siblings, then becomes emotional if I say anything remotely critical or negative of an action she takes, screaming that I judge her and refuse to understand her, never listening. I have tried being there for her silently, vocally, and physically over the years, but I find that it's a very fake relationship where there always has to be constant praise of her, even when she is in the wrong; she views any intervention to be an interference in her life. I should say, this is her attitude towards our entire family.

I've reached a point where the emotional tirades have exhausted me, thereby taking up a more confrontional approach. But I also don't want to cut her off; we have a blood relationship and I have obligations towards her as an older sister. I do love her very much, but I think I have stopped liking her long ago. It hurts me seeing her veering to a convoluted path.

I am thinking of just speaking to her and returning our relationship to normal, even if she refuses to apologise, and maintaining my distance from here on out. I will be there for her when she needs, but for my peace, will not try to seek a deeper relationship.

I wonder if this could be a correct approach, and would appreciate advice. I seek to stand in front of our Lord with a clear conscience-- I am just hurt, but numb and at a loss.

Discussion Human Appeal comedy tour

I went to the Human Appeal comedy tour. They had 4 comedians. After the first 2, they had a break, and at that point, me and my wife had a good time and enjoyed the show up to this point.

Now, for the next hour, they started to ask for donations for orphans, starting at $18K and going down as time went on. They showed the situation in Gaza and around the Middle East, which makes you feel bad for them.

While I felt bad for the orphans and their situation, it really felt out of place at a comedy show we already paid tickets for ($15 each). And an hour of our time to ask for donations just felt forced and kind of a sad way to ask for donations.

While they did raise quite a bit of money for the orphans, but it really just went on for way too long.

Afterwards, they said you can volunteer and go overseas (they pay), but you have to raise money, and whatever you raise is what you get to give back. The way they explained it to me felt kind of like a "White Savior Complex."

They also had a lot of Muslim influencers in the videos they showed, which also left a bad taste in my mouth.

After the long wait, we listened to one more comedian and left before the last one came out, as we were already exhausted. The show started at 7 PM, and it was around 10:30 PM by the time we left.

Overall, I left feeling pretty disappointed. I don't have an issue with raising money for orphans or humanitarian causes at all. I just didn't expect a comedy show that we paid for to turn into an hour-long fundraising event.

Anyone else been to the show? Was I justified in feeling this way?

Question How do converts de-secularize their minds and souls?

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Unfortunately, like many born-Muslims like me, you get westernized and secularized through the internet, which continues to affect you even after you start practicing. I've managed to reduce it definitely but it's still there. There is still that shy-ness, and remnants of that inferiority complex of religion that secular education does to you.

Discussion I’m struggling with faith and I need help to fight the doubts about Islam, existence of Allah and afterlife please.

Assalamu alaykum brothers and sisters,
I (16F) am currently struggling with faith a lot and it just makes me feel that religion such as Islam is just an ancient human-constructed system rather than something that came from divine revelation, because there are so many things which give me doubts and questions:

  1. The story of Adam and Hawwa, the Musa’s story of mountains turning into dust and his staff turning into a living snake sounds extremely like a written fairy tale rather than something that actually happened. It doesn’t support science. There is no scientific and historical evidence that mountains reducing into dust actually happened.

  2. How do we know Allah exists? How do we know that Quranic text is written by God and not by the human?

  3. How do we know Iblis and angels exist? Because people make up lots of mythical fictional creatures like unicorns, dragons, etc.

  4. How do we know afterlife like heaven, hell, and day of judgement exist? Because it makes me think that this is just fictional places created by the human’s imagination.

  5. Why Islam is the truth while other religions like Hinduism and Buddhism aren’t?

I’m not trying to attack Islam, I actually really love my religion but these doubts are making me very skeptical, so I’m seeking for answers that are actually supported with high quality evidence and logic that can bring my heart peace again. Thank you ❤️

Support/Advice need advice pls

as-salamu alaykum. i really need some advice because i feel so overwhelmed. i’m 18 and just started university. we were never in an actual relationship, but i’ve liked a guy for a while and confessed at the end of high school. we decided to go completely cold turkey over the summer to keep things halal.

it has been months of total silence. we talked about a student nikkah in the future, but we go to different universities now.

the boundaries feel so constraining. some days i try to stay strong, pray, and read quran. but right now the heartbreak is hitting me so hard. i am constantly overthinking how this will work and worrying we will just lose feelings after all this sacrifice.

i feel stuck in a never ending cycle. has anyone else been in a situation like this? how do you survive this waiting phase? please be gentle, i'm really struggling.
