I bought my OP-XY one week ago. It is wonderful.
It's complex!
I gave up on learning the sequencer almost immediately as it intimidated me too much and I just didn't really get it: My background is "DAW... left-to-right" (Cubase Pro) and the radical construct change was too much to deal with initially. So, I de-focused from that (so as not to unjustly hate the OP-XY) and focused on other things to keep my enthusiasm and momentum up.
In the past week, I explored the instrument presets that come with the device, the Synth engines, Samples & Multisamples. These topics mostly make sense when reading the manual + Googling and 'Claude'-ing for additional help.
I have particularly enjoyed learning how to construct custom Multisample Presets with individual sample-to-key mappings, which feels like this turns the OP-XY into a complete beast!
This past 24 hours tho, I have revisited the Sequencer and had a 'click' moment. I haven't really sequenced anything as such yet, but I "think" I kinda get it now.
In my job, In learn best when I play things back | write things down the way I understand them. So, I am using the same technique with the OP-XY.
If the attached information is of any use to anyone, I'll feel like I've given back a little. Of course, my notes may be riddled with errors, so I'm equally content to be corrected where I have misunderstood. I am, after all, learning this new tech, as a hobby musician foremost.
Hope this helps other in some way; those also new to the OP-XY.
Best!
