Discussion YOUTUBE ALMOST FKED MY FATHER'S PHONE

Thumbnail

3.9k Upvotes

the screenshots were taken after the bloodbath

So Today my Father was watching youtube at work, then a scam ad about "your storage is full" came up

but my father doesn't have that much knowledge in tech

so he thought that the phone's storage is full so he clicked and then he installed it and gave all the permission it wanted(huge mistake)😭😭😭

after sometime the ads started popping everywhere, on homepage, app drawer, recent apps even opening another app shows you ADS

he can't do anything beside watching ads, he had to put the phone away

then he comes to home and asks me to fix it, so i gently open the phone

the phone almost looks same and have unknown widgets

then i swiped, an ad came right at me it was filed with ads, almost unusable, can't close the app,

somehow i managed to open settings

i thought that the app had default home/launcher permission, which allows the app to set a custom UI, (did a lot of modding on my phone) and that app had this permission

with this permission this app creates Ads Hell, you have to see ads, you can't escape it

i remove all the permission of the app then i deleted that app (the app had a weird name "#Cleaner" does this make it disappear from app drawer?)

and patched the youtube fk i don't want to deal with ts anymore

ts kinda insane, like youtube indirectly forcing me to pay for their subscription

if you have parents like me just patch youtube on their phone

Via https://github.com/boykopovar/AnyPS5

Alongside this, 5 games are now at the "Playable" stage which means that it's "playable from start to finish with minor issues." (from https://alxcbtw.github.io/anyps5-roadmap/ )

* System libraries: percentage of the functions known to the project so far, not of every PS5 system function. The total grows as more functions are declared.

Excited for what the future holds, I'm hopeful.

News A US Congressman has officially proposed a new bill called “power to the players act” which would ensure that gamers actually own the games that they buy and is still going to work if the online servers ever were to shut down, essentially giving full offline playability.

Discussion How did they get rid of the emulator from Bloodborne?

I keep seeing posts about Bloodborne running natively on pc from posts and some piracy sites. How did they manage to not need the emulator to run it? Since this is what a lot of people online mentioned? Did they integrate the emulator into the game so it is there, you just dont see it so people make that confusion? Did someone or AI rewrote the code for pc? I am not the most tech literate person, but it seems so weird how they manage to not need something that seemed so important.

Question Is there a Piracy megathread equivalent for Spanish media?

My dad loves to watch films and sports and he mostly does it pirated but he pays to get the services. It isn't a lot of money but it's more than anyone should play IMO for something that could be accessed for free, specially when the money isn't going to the original creators but some shady middle man probably halfway around the world. I'd love to direct him to the piracy megathread but he doesn't speak English, only Spanish. Is there a Spanish resource for piracy in general?

Question Best way to share DVD ISO files of out of print discs?

I occasionally upload DVD ISO files to the internet archive. I like doing that because making DVD ISO's is easy, and then the archive.org backend will rederive into standalone video files, so users can download one or the other.

I feel DVD ISO's are the superior format for sharing discs. They retain all menus, subtitles and audio tracks, and bonus features. They can be burned onto a blank DVD to be played in any DVD player, no re-authoring required. They take up a little bit more space than maybe is strictly necessary but they are the only way to perfectly emulate the experience of actually using the original disc.

I have some rare DVDs in my hand that I want to share but I am afraid they might get taken down by copyright request, even though they are very much out of print. If I share them I want to share them in ISO format. It seems like a lot of trackers prefer derived MKV's, which is not my speed.

Where can I share ISO files where they will be appreciated outside of archive.org ?

Discussion Doesn't the recent "Unofficial PC ports" mean that there's alternative way to play Denuvo protected games that have released on both PC and PS5?

Of course, the recent ports have been focused on games that are exclusive to PS5, but isn't it possible to do the same with games such as "Life Is Strange: Reunion", which is available on both platforms, but is protected by Denuvo on PC.

I'm simply inquiring about what's possible, I honestly have no idea about how it works aside from the fact that A.I. is involved.

Question Does anyone know why Thumper was banned on 1337x?

Pretty reliable software uploader in the past was a moderator on the site. Went to download something and I saw the account is listed as banned with the last upload almost a year ago.

Can't find any info on it? Are the cracks still safe?

Discussion Does anyone know how to safely get pirated apps on iPad?

I found AltStore for side loading apps, but now I need to get the files for the apps. Information is a bit confusing online. I always use only the links on the megathread to download things on my macOS. But I couldn't find anything for iOS/iPad specifically. Does anyone know what websites are safe to use? Is appdb safe?

Question I need help finding season 17 of The Simpsons in Castilian Spanish.

I’ve searched all over the internet; I have Stremio set up with Debrid and all the add-ons properly configured, but the torrent links for watching that season in Spanish are dead, and I’m getting desperate. I know most people here probably won’t care (since they speak English), but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question Sideload mobile version of legitimate streaming apps?

I’ve bought a Onn streaming box that I plan to use on road trips and camping where there is no service, I already have Netflix/prime/hulu but can’t download movies or tv like the mobile version on my phone.

Do I just have to find the mobile versions APK and side load it or is there a way to make the play store think it’s a tablet instead of a TV box?
