Discussion My Beef With Insomniac
I enjoyed the game for the most part, but Insomniac really has a bad habit of slowing down their games to a crawl and taking away the option to skip. Yes, the story is important but it should never override the gameplay option. They even take away sprint that makes the game unbearable at times.
Also, big fumble by not making the game open world. They didn't have to make it like Arkham Knight or Spiderman, but they could've at least made it like Arkham City. These developers are taking away replay value because after a certain point there is no more progress. It would've been cool to fight the Sentinels or Reavers in the streets randomly.
7 out of 10 to me

Support/Question How do I make the scent trail MORE visible?
Yes that’s correct. I want it to be more visible. Everyone complained and its visibility got nerfed. I just picked up the game and I want it to go back to the way it was when I was watching release gameplay footage. I also want to make sure I see the scent so I can get all the collectibles. Please tell me there’s a way.

Discussion Thoughts on Nathaniel Essex? Spoiler
Essex broke Logan’s mind, which caused him to kill Jean and then made him relive it over and over again until he went crazy to manipulate him into joining Team X.
Not to mention, Essex tried justifying what he did by saying he made Logan’s life better and gave him purpose when in actuality, he stole his life for his own selfish goals. What a cruel bastard.

Discussion It's not the cutscenes, it's the unskippable walk-and-talks
The cutscenes total like 4-5 hrs, which is ridiculous but at least you can skip them. The walk and talks may make up over half of the playtime. This is a 6 hr game if we're talking time you actually get to shred as wolverine. The scenes where you walk behind jean, maybe interact with an object with triangle, those are what kills the game. Especially replay-ability. When I go to the nightmare cabin to replay old missions, like half of them i never do because i remember there's like a 5 minute walk and talk to start the mission. I really wanna like this game, and i do, but this is some bullshit. Please give wolverine agency.

Discussion Why is the art style so neutral and bland?
It has to be the most generic looking AAA game out in a while. People blame “high fidelity” but you can have detail oriented graphics and a strong sense of style; look at GTA 6 for example.
Insomniac can learn from Rockstar in how to create proper atmosphere in a game world.

What do y’all think of Mystique redesign and Wolverine slight facial changes that make him look rougher?

Discussion Reaction After 10 Hours
I’ve played the game for about 10 hours and overall I’m enjoying the game. It isn’t great but it isn’t bad. There are 2 big issues that I have with the game.
- The camera is Way to close and there isn’t an option to zoom out. I have a very hard time seeing what is around me. Both during exploration and combat. Using Spiderman as a reference,
they
- had the camera way more zoomed out, so you could see what was going on around you. If makes you feel helpless.
- I never feel like I’m in control. The game has me on rails, the game only lets me do certain things that I don’t know what is what without trying (what I can transverse), and the button responses are hit or miss. I truly couldn’t tell you what the correct buttons are for certain things because I ended up having to mash buttons to make things happen.
This game is fun and an enjoy probably 20ish hours but has no polish, seems rushed, and is more of a indie than AAA title. This release was rushed and needed at least another year of development.

Discussion Subtitles being always off or always on is a problem when there's more than one language spoken in game.
Most media forces them on in order to provide translation for languages that are not the main language of the media, but the player/viewer is still supposed to understand what's being said.
This game doesn't do that.
So if you want to play without them on all the time, you miss literally everything people are saying in Japanese.
It's an incredibly frustrating and nonsensical thing to do and it ruins the experience to have to go back into settings and turn on or off subtitles depending on the language being spoken.
Insomniac, please fix this very simple and basic quality of life feature. Thank you

Discussion Advice for Sabertooth boss fight
Hello everyone,
I thought I would share my advice for the Sabertooth boss fight on the best there is difficulty as it definitely puts you through your paces.
Tip 1: only attack (excluding the attacks straight after a dodge as they contribute to his stun bar) during the pauses between his attack patterns as if you try and go for a pot shot after the first parry he will hit and stun lock you as he is faster than you.
Tip 2: if you are using reckless berserker, turn it off as being in rage tier 3 provides no advantage whatsoever and the revive from not having it will save your skin many times in this fight
Tip 3: if you fail to parry one of his attacks just dodge for the rest of that attack pattern as he will stun lock you as the recovery time before you can parry after an attack is longer than the time before his next attack.
If anyone else has any tips please share them in the comments.

Discussion Finished the Game Spoiler
Cons:
- genuinely some of the most confusing and weird story telling I’ve seen in recent games. The story at least for me after the third arc was just hard to follow. The plot twist was so bad and made me realize how half the characters did not have to be there. I’m still very confused on the story, and I feel like they tried to manage too many plot narratives and it killed story. Maybe a more x men oriented story may have been better.
- I feel like the apocalypse phoenix and Jean gray Wolverine lovers dynamic was just so out of place in this game.
- the Japan chapter felt insanely repetive, go and find Walter, get ambushed by ninjas, fight a big boss from the hand rinse and repeat
- if side missions are your thing this is definitely not the game for you
- someone mentioned how you don’t really feel the power of said admantuuim claws like you do with say the hammer in GOW 2018 and I can see that outside of rage mode.
- game glitches a lot I will not lie
Pros:
-gameplay is incredibly fun
- the first chapter in this game is some of the most fun I’ve had playing the ps5. Because to me the mission where you try and save Essex and kill trask at his tower with sabertooth is what encapsulates Wolverine. Going with your fellow team X members and trying to go through a whole army while being shot just screams wolverine. I think this game should have sticked to more of that throughout the game. And Maybe an easier story to follow.
- the game could be challenging: maybe I just suck at games but I played on the mutant and I died many times lol but it was very fun and the upgrade tree and DNA upgrades are very straight forward and feel super useful.
Final verdict: I’m someone that likes games that are straightforward. I’ve played Ghost of Tsushima, GOW and Spiderman and never finished them because the open world style of constant enemies and side missions make the game stale for me I really liked the games overall linear trajectory it was a breath of fresh air
If you were hoping for a Triple A X-men style story game this is prob not for you or I’d wait till it goes on sale but if you like a game where you can button mash , play after work and can tolerate a mediocre story than I highly recomend this game because I had a fun time playing it. I’d love to see a Wolverine 2 with these improvements.

Discussion Ending Discussion (SPOILERS) Spoiler
Hey guys, I just beat this game yesterday and have been thinking about the ending a lot since. At first I thought it was kinda okay, but the more thought I put into it I actually dislike it more and more. I’m not even talking from a comic accuracy standpoint, because I’m not a comic reader, but do feel like I know a decent amount of the lore, but just from a storytelling and logical standpoint. I just kinda don’t get why you spend the story remembering Logan’s past just for him to lose his memory again? Like I understand that it’s part of a cycle he’s been going through but I feel that it kind of defeats the whole purpose of this specific story we just played through and kinda just serves as a way to introduce Jean into the story to setup the future X-Men games. And I actually liked Jean a lot in this story, but I don’t like that it seems the Wolverine game is just used as a setup for other characters just for Logan himself to lose his memory and a lot of his character development at the very end. And then on top of that, they decided to let him go off on his own to find apocalypse and discover more about his past rather than just tell him, which I found to be a little silly as well. They already know apocalypse is evil, what sense does it make to send someone with very little memory of anything (outside of whatever information Jean told him at the end of the game after wiping his memory) to someone who we know is evil, extremely powerful, and has the ability to mind control people? If I’m missing something please let me know because I actually really enjoyed the game other than this part.

Discussion It's funny a far better melee combat game called Control Resonant released a week after this.
Having played Wolverine then jumping to Control Resonant, the difference is completely night and day. Every single person I talk to about CR loves it and says it's really fucking good. Every review I've seen is BEGGING you to play it. The combat just feels so fucking good compared to Wolverine.
EDIT
I've heard some reviewers complained about the beginning difficulty curve but they patched that shit quickly.

Discussion Why follow sub if you don’t like the game?
I get when it first came out checking out sub and leaving opinion. But, it’s been out for a while now. If I don’t like a game I don’t follow that sub or waste my time talking about it. What’s the thought process in continuing to bash a game that you don’t like? It’s ok to have that opinion but also realize it’s just that an opinion. Let people who like the game have a space to talk about it.
Edit: appreciate the responses. I get why some people would keep up with it now. Yall have a good day.

Discussion They’re calling her the most insufferable character in gaming..
Was anyone else beyond frustrated with Raven’s characterization in particular? I have gripes with plenty of the characters and the overall kind of tropes the writing style frequently falls on, but oh man.. Raven stands out as extremely unlikable and infuriating.

Support/Question Is Marvel Wolverine worth playing
I am a huge fan of Insomniacs games especially Marvels Spider Man Marvels Spider Man Miles Morales and Spider Man 2
The first Spider Man was one of my favourite games especially because of the character development and how attached I got to Peter as a character Spider Man is honestly my fictional lord and one of my favourite fictional characters ever
Now I am thinking about playing Wolverine and wanted to know if it is actually worth playing
For those who have played it how is the story character development combat and overall experience compared to the Spider Man games
Would you recommend it to someone who really loved the Spider Man games
No major spoilers please
