But tell me again how dangerous trans women are.

Yall missed the point of supraster’s reply.

When you see a post about cis men assaulting and raping cis women, the reaction should be SUPPORTING and UPLIFTING the victims/survivors of the situation. Trans women are not the victims of THIS situation, cis women are.

But you’re not even making it about trans women being victims, you’re saying “HA! See! Cis men are raping cis women, not trans women!!” which is an awful thing to turn this into.

Don’t turn the conversation about cis women being raped by cis men into a conversation about how trans women are victims of social propaganda?? Wtf

I say this as a trans person who is fully aware of the violence trans women face. It’s just not about us here and it’s selfish. Misogyny affects everyone.

All the fear mongering against trans women is that its suppsedly going to give cis men an in to do this stuff, but this keeps happening. They don't need an in. Everything is an in. And this post is about cis men raping and killing people, of course trans people should get a seat at the table. They are statistically even more likely to be harmed by cis men than cis women are and should absolutely be considered here too.

Edit to add: Cis women are going to get the majority of this kind of news written about them because there are more of them and society generally has deeper feelings about this kind of violence happening to them. Because of this, its absolutely necessary to make sure trans people are remembered in these discussions, much in the same way that it's necessary to make sure trans people are included in discussions about health care.

The first part is a good point.
I just think the conversation should be about supporting victims, not playing a game of who’s the real attacker. At the least, if you’re going to say “see? Cis men are violent, not trans women” at least have the heart to address the women who were harmed and uplift them.

I definitely agree that there was a more tactful and situation addressing way to make that comment. But I also understand what was likely behind the comment. Its exasperating having so much news and politics point at trans people as violent monsters looking to prey on cis women when all this just keeps happening and the people pointing fingers not only don't do anything to stop what is actually happening, but are actively part of the club doing it.

Yeah I agree, I imagine that’s how the commenter intended to frame it as well

Also, I just want to say, I think you and the other commenter are assuming the person we are responding under is a trans person trying to center herself, but we can't assume that's the case here, especially considering her profile and history gives no indication of being trans, so I don't think this is a case of whataboitism.

Thank you. Seriously. If I knew who you were and we lived in the same area, I’d take you out for tea and cookies.

But this is largely about cis women (gay or straight, any ethnicity). Why did you need to turn it into something about trans women?

Cis women have barely had even a moment to be free. Can you let them have something? Anything? Without making it be about trans? Would that be okay?

Enough with the self victimization

Likewise. My foremothers fought for an entire century, if not more than that, to gain rights and equality. They literally bled for it. That isn't to say trans people have not also bled for THEIR rights but my god... you don't just want a seat at the table you want THE ENTIRE TABLE.

The trans rights movement has turned misogynist.

u/aviroblox 5h ago

TERF, if you think trans people wanting the same rights as anyone else is "the entire table" you are bigoted.

0

u/suprasternaincognito 5h ago

YUP.

Although I hardly consider myself radical. TEF?

I don't think them wanting the same rights is the problem. Why would I think that. I think the methods they're using are the problem.

2

u/aviroblox 5h ago

What methods? Also if you're a self admitted trans exclusionary feminist why are you on this subreddit. Consult Rule 3.

Go find a safe space for your bigotry that isn't here.

Nothing I've said is hateful, harassment or trolling. I am asking for a conversation and alternate methods. Trans people have the right to freely exist and I've never said otherwise. I don't care what bathroom someone uses.

But the thing is: none of that matters. It's a purity test with you people (you people being either trans or allies). In fact, the trans movement invented the purity test. If a person does not agree with EVERYTHING 100% ALL THE TIME they are a MAGAt, right?

How the hell do you expect to plow forward with that attitude? You will tribalize people, and you will tribalize potential allies into enemies. In fact, you ignoring everything I've said about the women's movement proves your selfishness. People came before you: Women, Black folk, Asians, gays... you push them all aside to demand TRANS ONLY, like you're all that matters.

A cis woman gets raped. Many cis women get raped. You turn it into a trans thing.

You totally (and I believe intentionally) missed the point of my comment.

u/suprasternaincognito 5h ago

About trans women being dangerous? I got it. And they aren’t. And it’s fucking stupid to keep accusing them of violence and scapegoating and I’m tired of it.

AND… see above.

Trans people (both trans men and women and non-binary people) are actually statistically even more likely to be sexually assaulted, raped and murdered by cis men than cis women are. This is a problem for all of us.
