I was at Nando's today and noticed the prices have gone up on pretty much everything, some items by as much as 5 QR. I asked the waiter and he said the increase happened 3 days ago.

What I don't get is why. As far as I know, chicken prices in Qatar haven't gone up, and Nando's is mainly a chicken restaurant. Nandos is already overpriced as it is. I was tempted to to leave (i was in a food court) and go somewhere else, but unfortunately not much other healthy options were near by. Is nandos trying to capitalise on inflatation or is this genuine?

I'm a 21-year-old Pakistani passport holder, born and raised in Qatar, with a valid Qatar ID under family sponsorship.

I'm planning to drive into the UAE for a short visit of just a few days to attend an event, for which I can provide an official invitation letter.

I'm currently a full-time university student in Qatar and can provide an enrolment letter, my father's QID (he has an established professional occupation), and financial supporting documents if required.

I've contacted several visa agencies, but the responses have been extremely mixed. Some say Pakistani visas aren't being approved, while others say approvals are still happening but are unpredictable.

I'm considering applying for a regular 14-day tourist visa rather than the GCC-resident entry permit, since my QID doesn't list an occupation.

Has anyone with a similar profile recently received a UAE visa approval?

I'd especially appreciate hearing:

• Whether you applied for a regular tourist visa or GCC-resident visa.
• Which agency or application channel you used.
• Whether additional supporting documents helped.
• Whether you entered the UAE by road rather than flying.

I'm aware approval is never guaranteed. Just looking for recent firsthand experiences before risking a nonrefundable application fee.

In china for example they ban it but they have an alternative to use that allows you to make calls and text etc..

But then almost every single person in the country uses WhatsApp for texting communications, business or personal.. yet calls are forbidden even inside of the country

The international community here is like 85% of the population so people are constantly communicating with people abroad

Why isn’t there some alternative (that’s actually usuable, botim is very bad) something that’s made in qatar (or for the entire GCC area) that people can use to communicate

I have been here over a decade. I know people used to complain. But I never faced such issues. But recently my experiences rapidly converging on the inefficiency and waste and idleness that I see in other government orgs!

I also heard that the government appointed capable guy over a year ago to get the system streamlined and fixed. So far nothing. Except for a few thousand getting fired. But why are there too many people still chit-chatting and walking around without work?

I am planning to shift to Ezdan. Does Ezdan accept cash or bank transfer and return the monthly cheque. This is due to i face signature mismatch issue with bank before few times (i cannot do the exact same sign everytime).
