I’ve always been a little envious of countries that embrace the term “fortnight” instead of saying “two weeks.” Just has an air of sophistication. Can we make “zacharia” and “scarmucci” a thing in the US, to mean “five days” and “eleven days,” respectively?
As a software engineer, I see them as a potential substitute for story points. “How long will it take you to build this new feature?” “Normally a few scaramuccis, but with Claude, probably a fortzacharia. Maybe less.”
I was waiting for a Scaramucci (sp?) reference the second I heard the news and saw the topic. Thankfully, reddit did not let me down.
Note: This may not be the first one in this topic, but it is the first one I saw while scrolling. No disrespect intended to other ones that I may have missed.
I argue we make it into only a term to measure time in disappointment, trepidation, or sadness.
Like one could measure a Scarmucci before or after a colonoscopy or messy divorce… but never to measure the time before something like Christmas or time after a stray cat decides you now have a new cat.
