Turns out, the company that hired her thought she had been working as a general counsel and now China is opening an investigation into what she was doing in the country.
A negative outcome for China? In what way? Regardless, investigating the (briefly tenured) US Press Secretary seems like something China would definitely jump at a chance to report on imo.
Doesn't really read that way to me personally, but I suppose that could be the case. The only reporting I see about their response so far (at least from Western outlets) is that they're inviting her to visit again because of her comment about China "lacking proper toilets", lol.
LOL that's like one of my favorite TV shows and I'm subscribed and comment a lot in that subreddit but I actually meant the show Suits it's the first one that came to my mind.
In France, where I practice, you can definitely be a juriste without passing the bar exam and becoming an avocat. In fact, in-house counsel are by definition not avocats, since it is forbidden for an avocat to be employed by anyone other than another avocat, as this would be seen as undermining the independence of the legal profession.
But in the US, it is clearly not the case. Graduating from law school does not make you a "lawyer" (just try practicing law without a bar admission and you will see where that gets you). In-house counsel as well as law firm people are all "lawyers" and have passed the bar exam.
Nope. J.D. is a jurist doctor, not lawyer. I’d go so far to say because of her “miscommunication” she will never be a lawyer because she can’t pass the character and fitness portion of the bar.

To be too incompetent for this administration is a hell of a feat.
