How much fucking money was deposited to make a piece of shit car fly for a couple of seconds

They basically used the stabilization from SpaceX mixed with the old compress air gimmick that was used in the 1984 Olympics, which only work for very short flights because you quickly run out of compressed Nitrogen after a couple of seconds, which is a technology from the cutting edge 1960s. It's great to make a visual stunt but you need to constantly recharge the nitrogen canisters each time the feature is used to impress your friends for a couple of seconds.

It's all nonsense. That vehicle was built on a lightweight composite frame—essentially just a big, light shell with no battery or other systems. But the Musk fanboys think they'll be flying next year, lol.

It's also a flying bomb that would literally vaporise the driver if it exploded.

It would be funny if they pushed it onto US consumers in a couple of years, only for us to end up with endless videos of random explosions and falling debris. I’m sure pedestrians would appreciate the excitement.

We have flying cars now in the same way we had cars capable of going into space when Muskrat strapped one to a rocket that one time.

Is that the same thing that was used for the jetpack in the James Bond movie from the late 60s early 70s?

You don't need high tech to convince a gulliblle and poorly educated audience. The US has no shortage of both.

Hate to tell you that European tech bros are also fawning over Daddy Muskrat right now.

Did they fly over the public?

u/CurvySexretLady 2h ago

No, not during the demo. The car was on a stage in front of the audience with the audience being a safe distance from it when it did all the crazy stunts.

I meant in 1984 Olympic

Yeah it's practically the same, one of them has a man controlling left and right on a jetpack, the other is a freaking car that drives upside down by itself, flips through the air, and automatically stabilises itself.

I mean it's practically the same isn't it. Although the tesla used compressed air, rather than pure nitrogen, which it can theoretically charge.

But pretending it's a gimmick is rather disingenuous, it was a spectacular tech demo.

Then let's see it do that with a human inside of it.  If it can't operate with 200lbs of meat safely inside, it's just a glorified drone with tires

The model with only rear jet boosters will actually be available to purchase, but the rocket car one that can fly is limited to "invite only" with no one knowing who gets invited yet.

The rocket car one also only has one seat, the other has two.

I don’t get Reddit. This was a dope demonstration. Everyone acting like their personal money was spent on something stupid. Spending money on plastic water bottles when perfectly good water comes from some pipes nearby is just as insane in my book.

It's technically less impressive than the similar 1974 Bond stunt which had to be calculated on 1974 computers, less practical than the 1960s olympic jetpack, and will never ever reach production. Where exactly should anyone be impressed?

2

u/NibblyPig 3h ago

Really, the 1974 stunt in which a driver drove the car to a predetermined speed and aimed at a ramp, which made the car spin and land?

Keep in mind we had computers calculating bomb trajectories in planes in 1916 onwards.

This was an entirely automated demo in which a car drove upside down and then flipped and automatically self-righted. It is really not technically less impressive at all.

-1

u/Balogunned 4h ago

I would argue that it is more impressive than the bond stunt. I never seen people get so mad about a stunt in my life.

This is how much people love Musk. And what he does. What's not clear? It's all a distraction from the fact he spent almost 400 million dollars this election cycle. Who tf cares about a stupid impractical stunt that's making their stock plummet?

Edit: or the fact he's throttling starlink in Ukraine. This guy is a pos. He's pure evil. Only very stupid.

3

u/TheQuadricorn 3h ago

The comments defending him are so far removed from reality. The majority of them are likely bots, and all of them can’t handle an ounce of reasoned argument.

Musk nor Starlink made this decision. They were forced to by the government.

2

u/TheBaalzak 2h ago

The government Elon worked for, and the one he keeps spending 100s of millions of dollars to keep in power? That government?

-1

u/CurvySexretLady 2h ago

What? Starshield is operated by the US Military under the authority and directives of the President of the United States. Starshield is who throttled and restricted Ukraine's military use of that service.

Not musk. Not SpaceX, not Starlink: Starshield.

2

u/TheBaalzak 2h ago

The President Elon worked for, and the one he keeps spending 100s of millions of dollars to keep in power? That President?

-1

u/CurvySexretLady 2h ago

Yes, that President, the same one that Elon Musk had a public crazy falling out with.

That President, and past and future presidents control the US Military. The US Military controls Starshield, not musk, not Starlink, and the US Military answers to the authority and directives of the US President.

Musk doesn't control it, so blaming Musk is misdirected angst.

It is performative... it looks cool but beyond that what does it do? Great, now cars can do a kick-flip.

0

u/Balogunned 4h ago

Ok. That’s every stunt ever.

0

u/CurvySexretLady 2h ago

Right? Too bad we didn't have reddit back when Evil Knivel was wasting his money doing crazy motorcycle stunts so that reddit could tell us how it was all just a waste on a performative spectacle.

1

u/KathrynBooks 10m ago

Evil Knivel was a stunt man putting on a performance... Not some psycho billionaire trying to play Tony Stark

2

u/ConfessSomeMeow 1h ago

Everyone acting like their personal money was spent on something stupid.

Do you have any idea how much US tax money is being wasted on corrupt boondoggle contracts with Tesla? I have every right to be indignant at the waste.
