Hi everyone! I’m developing Xodus Nexus, an open-source launcher for installing and running Microsoft Store PC games on Linux, including games available through PC Game Pass.
I’ve recently added experimental Steam Deck support, Gaming Mode integration and controller navigation, and I’m looking for feedback from Deck users.
Games run locally on your device, not through cloud streaming. The project uses a patched Wine/Proton-based runtime built on Xodus. You need your own Microsoft account and a valid game purchase or subscription.
What’s new for Steam Deck?
You can now add Nexus and individual games to Steam as Non-Steam shortcuts, with available artwork, and launch them through Gaming Mode.
The launcher also has experimental controller navigation for browsing the library, selecting games and using its main controls. Mouse, touch and keyboard input remain available. Some sign-in windows and system dialogs may still require touch or mouse input.
I don’t currently own a Steam Deck or a similar handheld, so I can’t test directly on the hardware myself. These additions are still experimental, not a promise of a fully polished, controller-only experience. That’s why feedback from this community is particularly valuable.
If anyone has an older Steam Deck or a similar handheld they’d be willing to sell for a reasonable price, I’d be happy to buy it for development and testing. Any condition is fine, including cosmetic damage, as long as the basic functions still work. Feel free to DM me!
What does the launcher do?
- Browse owned games, Game Pass titles and local installations, with search and filters.
- Download games, manage the installation queue and check for updates.
- Use Xbox sign-in and cloud saves in supported games.
- Add games and Nexus itself to Steam.
- Update the launcher, backend and runtime through Settings.
It’s available as an AppImage. The backend and runtime can be installed through Settings.
What games work?
Some manually tested Linux results include:
- Gears of War: E-Day, playable online.
- Deep Rock Galactic, playable online.
- Minecraft Dungeons II, playable online.
- No Man’s Sky, playable online.
- Forza Horizon 6, playable online.
- Palworld, playable online.
- Valor Mortis, fully playable.
These are Linux compatibility results, not Steam Deck performance or compatibility guarantees. More games, user reports and known limitations are available in the compatibilit,y list.
Not every game works. Some have missing functionality, online limitations or launch failures.
What feedback would help?
I’m especially interested in:
- Whether controller navigation feels usable on the Deck.
- Whether Steam shortcuts work correctly.
- Any issues with scaling, focus, dialogs or the on-screen keyboard.
Please include your SteamOS version, component versions and what worked or failed.
If something crashes or won’t launch, please open a GitHub issue with the exact error and relevant logs. Just knowing that a game crashes usually isn’t enough to investigate, especially for games I don’t own.

This is an independent solo project, not affiliated with Microsoft, Xbox or Valve. It does not bypass game ownership or anti-cheat requirements.
For transparency, I use AI tools during reverse engineering.
Thanks to everyone willing to try it and help improve the Steam Deck experience!
