Sorry, I am really not sure how to word this in the title. I am also sorry if this kind of post is not allowed here, we are deeply concerned and trying all avenues of info.
A very close friend (Just recently turned 50) was said to have died in a motorized vehicle accident sometime between October 14-16 (We were given October 15 date, unsure with timezones though). He doesn't have much family he communicates with, but a US consulate contacted his aunt (who he is not very close to but may be his only next of kin) to inform her of his passing.
We (his close friends and co-workers) are trying to find any details about this, there's been no news coverage as of yet, that we have found. We don't even know what part of Thailand he was in, only that he was at some kind of meditation retreat on one of his last stops touring Asia.
At this point, we're just looking for any information or leads. Even just getting some idea of local / global websites that would eventually post something about it, that we can keep track of.
Any and all help is appreciated, thank you in advance!

Anyone else having trouble with the official Thai e-visa site right now? I registered and logged in with no problem, and the dashboard loads fine. But the moment I click to edit/start my application (/apply-application) I just get āSomething went wrong, please refresh the page and try again.ā Refreshing does nothing.
Checked the browser console and thereās a 502 Bad Gateway on one of their JS files (PhoneField-something.js), so Iām guessing itās their server and not me, but who knows.
Has this happened to anyone recently? Did it fix itself after a while, or is there something I should be doing differently? Also if anyone has found a way to actually reach their support, Iād love to know. Tried Chrome, Safari and incognito, same thing
Thanks!

Hi, my family and I are planning a trip to Thailand. We are first going to Krabi, then flying to Bangkok, and returning home from there. I was checking the Krabi to Bangkok flights just now, and for some reason, none of them allow check-in bags, only hand bags. This has a limit of 7kgs as well.
I wanted to ask firstly, is this the norm in domestic flights? Will i not be able to find any flight with check-in that's still decently priced? and secondly, we can make it work by just bringing 7kg bags as we are 4 girls, so we can distribute the stuff between ourselves. But what are the allowances? Cause in my country we have restrictions on what's allowed and what's not in a hand baggage?

Hi all!
I'm leaving for Thailand in less than a week and I'm super excited! I'm hitting up Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and I've decided to tack on short stays in Chiang Dao and Mae Taeng.
Up until now, I haven't been too concerned about safety, especially not in the cities. For what it's worth, I'm not a party person and I don't drink. Aside from a night market or two and maybe a ladyboy show, I don't plan on being out at night.
However, I'm suddenly wondering about Chiang Dao and Mae Taeng. I booked them because I want to immerse myself in nature a little more, but should I be worried as a solo female? I'm more so concerned about chiang dao since Mae Taeng seems to have a lot of tourist excursions.
EDIT: fixed typo

Hey guys, looking to book a boat in Krabi/phuket for a large group.
The yacht looks great, but most of the reviews I can find are from 6+ years ago, so I'm a bit hesitant to put down a deposit.
Just wondering if anyone's heard of them or knows if they're still operating and reliable? Or any advice on booking boats.

- Their videos and photos also look AI
Would appreciate any advice. Cheers!

I was thinking of visiting Ayutthaya from Bangkok but I am seeing conflicting reports. I know that there is flood letting in province to give relief to Bangkok. What about the city itself? Are the ruins still accessible?

I made a post about a month ago asking about driving in Thailand and I got my IDP in the mail today from the aaa website which is officially the only place to get it
Is this all I truly need as an Australian with full driver's license to legally drive over there? I'm abit confused as I thought the IDP would be like a plastic license or something but it's literally just like a small paper book without any Thai writting
Should I photocopy this or just keep it in a plastic sleeve to be safe?

Hi :) My boyfriend and I are planning to spend 2 nights in Khao Yai in November. Private drivers seem to be around $460 CAD for 3 days, which is a lot more than weād like to spend.
What other ways are there to get there from bangkok and then get around while there?
Weād like to visit Khao Yai National Park, flower fields and cafes but mostly relax in nature. Would renting a car be a better option, or are there other alternatives? If I bus/train to pak chong, are there private drivers available in that area to explore khao yai?
I understand you need a guide/driver for the national park but wondering about the nearby attractions.
Would love to hear what worked for others! Thanks!

Anyone planning the four islands longtail trip out of Ao Nang ā my advice is to be on the earliest boat of the day. Ours pushed off just after 8 (we were down at the beach before 7:30 to be safe), and yesterday that had us in front of the crowds nearly everywhere we stopped, the early bird gets the worm and all that!
Phra Nang, Chicken Island, Tup Island at low tide and Poda, and it lives up to everything people say about it, which roughly 600 photos will back up! By a wide margin the most crowded stop was Chicken Island, Poda the calmest of the lot.
All day long the phone hung around my neck in a waterproof pouch, taking photos, filming the sandbar and running Google Maps whenever I lost track of which island this was, and I was half expecting it to give out before the end, but my new Anker maggo 2 pro was in the pouch too, stuck to the phone the whole time, and it lasted the entire ride back to Ao Nang beach with lots left over!

Since this transition, I was not able to access my account or reach a human customer service agent. I do receive the 'Forgot ID' emails successfully to my registered email, but I am not able to at least reset my password to get in.
Neither the US office, or Thai headquarters were able to fix this and I was not able to reach anyone from the headquarters in Thailand.
If anyone was able to fix this issue, can you share how did you do it?
Thank you all.

My top option right now is west koh pha ngan, specifically the wok tum area. Iām looking to get a visa by training martial arts, i basically want my day to day to be training gym, martial arts, studying for my masters and working on my online business.
I was also heavily considering Rawai but ive seen some bad āreviewsā.
I want someplace nice by the beach, not too expensive with a large long-term international crowd (donāt mind short term tourists as long as i can meet people long term as well).
Safe area is a must, legal weed is a bonus and i feel like once in a while ill be able to go and enjoy nightlife.
How does the wok tum area sound?

Hey everyone! I'll be travelling through Thailand in late February and would love feedback on my plans.
My rough split is Bangkok (3 nights), Khao Sok (1 night on Cheow Lan Lake) and Phuket (3 nights).
I'm hoping to combine temples, history, street food, nightlife, nature, beaches and Muay Thai. In Khao Sok, I'd particularly like to stay in a floating raft house and do some kayaking and wildlife activities.
Does this itinerary make sense, or is it too rushed? Is one night on the lake enough, and would you recommend anything extra, like any other places to visit, or certain attractions, or even food recommendations?
I'd also appreciate advice on transport, tours and anything you'd prioritise or skip.
Thanks!
