General Passive Learning Driving Theory Test

Hi, is anyone here interested in using an app for the car theory test with a passive learning approach? Learn while walking, on the bus, or while listening to teachers' sermons? I've developed an app that's in the closed test stage on the Play Store. I need about 10 'victims' to use the best app I've created — according to my mother, anyway. I reckon the content absorption time could be far superior to the official app. Actually, in this case it's not even to my credit — it's that they have no interest in the candidate passing on the first test. The very same company selling the material are the same applying the test.

Join me;

  1. Join the testers group: https://groups.google.com/g/driving-theory-testers
  2. Then install the app: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.sevendays.irishtheorytest

Video example Isn't great quality video, but the app was just born Best rather than Beta

I’m planning on joining next year for the program and would like to know more about the program from someone who has experienced it. I want to know particularly about the professors, teaching, other peers and how good is its placement.

General No Response from UCD Enquiries

Hello,

It's been 2 weeks since I contacted the university, and they haven't responded yet. I reckon this is modus operandi given that it's application season?

Otherwise, I sent my enquiry as a guest. Could that be the cause of the delay?

General UCD GEM TIMETABLE (1ST YEAR)

Hi I am a UCD GEM applicant for 2027 entry and I was wondering if any current first year/stage 1 GEM students could share their timetable? Or any GEM stage 2/second year students who still have their timetable from last year? I would just like a reference to know what my schedule would be like! Thanks.

Hi- fresher here- sorry if this sounds silly but do you get mid terms for all your modules or does it depend on if the lecturer wants to give u one or not?

Question Srike Day

Is the Sutherland School of Law Building going to be open on Wednesday?

I'm thinking of coming in early to study and get work done.

Also, I know the email from the Dean of Students said that they intend to open most university buildings on that day, but does anyone know what buildings are actually open?

Accommodation Flatmate issues

Guy in the room next to me speaks incredibly loud into all hours ( until about 3am latest ) has an alarm that goes off at 4:30, 4:45, 5:30, 5:45, 6:30, 6:45, 7:30, 7:45 and so on…
Is completely unreceptive to my personal complaints and has NOW… taken the part of the fridge I have used for the past 6 weeks with his own stuff. Is there any advice on what to say or do?? I have made attempts to say it to him personally but he doesn’t seem to care.

Undergraduate Courses CAO DN700

I am applying as an IB student and was wondering what kind of documents they require from me? Would they ask for dp1/dp2 report cards or predicted grades or do they only ever ask for the official results?

I was kind of scared because my DP1/DP2 report cards had low grades and did not match the CAO cutoff but my official score is likely to be much more than that, not sure if they require those report cards or only the official ones are sufficient.

Please help, I am an EU IB student. I would love to hear from UCD applicants or students, or anyone who knows how the process works.

All on site learning activities are cancelled on Wednesday as everyone knows. However one of my lecturers is doing their lecture via zoom on Wednesday. Is this allowed as I thought it was against the rules of the union

Any predictions for the 2027 intake cutoff for this program?

I’m applying as an IB Student. I saw the trend and it has been going up consistently but not sure. Anyone who went to the program knows?

Accommodation Village Halls (14-bed flats) vs. aparto Montrose for international 1st years? 🌍

Hey everyone!

Incoming international undergraduate student here, trying to sort out my housing choice. My main priority is finding somewhere with a really strong community of other international students that stays active over the weekends so I can avoid the commuter "ghost town" vibe when locals head home.

Right now, I’m weighing up two options:

• UCD Village Halls (the huge 14-person apartments on campus)

• aparto Montrose (the private accommodation across the road)

For anyone who has stayed in either: what is the actual mix of international students like? Is sharing the kitchen in the 14-person Village flats a good community experience or a bit too chaotic? Which one gives you a better social vibe and best one for making friends?

Cheers!

Undergraduate Courses IB Student Applying To DN700 - Economics, Mathematics & Statistics programme

Hey everyone!

I'm an EU student taking the IB Diploma in May 2027, aiming for 37/45 points (around 508 CAO points).

I'm really interested in UCD's Economics, Mathematics & Statistics programme under DN700.

I've noticed the CAO cutoff has been increasing over recent years, so I'm wondering whether 37 points would give me a realistic chance for 2027 entry.

I'm also taking Maths AA SL (aiming for a 5–6). Would that meet the programme's Maths requirements?

Would love to hear from current UCD students or anyone who applied through CAO with IB results.

Thanks!

Question Study places with whiteboard

This might be a very niche question, but is there anywhere I can study with access to whiteboards?

I study maths, and it's literally key to get me through it😭 buying a whiteboard is not really an option.

Question Trans students, how did you get your new email.

I submitted my GRC and I’m getting a new email. I’m in final year and the process has been simple enough I just had some email correspondence with the student desk in order to arrange it all.

However now that I’m waiting on my new email address the old one isn’t working and I’m wondering how they plan on sending me the details of the new one? I would assume they have it recorded somewhere my personal email but I don’t know. I can’t remember how they sent me the original one since that was 3 years ago.

Also did you retain access to your old files and assignment uploads on brightspace?

Question Trying to find a study room for 12 people

Hey guys, any ideas for a best place to study around UCD for 8-12 people from 10 a.m to 3 p.m? Ideally with a lot of electrical sockets, to show powerpoint, and more. Also would be great if it’s closer/in Newstead.

I tried to book one in health science library but they can’t afford more than 8 people. Oh and is it possible to use those empty meeting rooms without booking them? Or will we get charged if they found out.

Other College has been such a lonely experience

I'm in 2nd year in a big course, and despite my efforts I have made 0 friends in my course or on the whole. Since the start of the 1st semester, whether it was orientation, before lectures, before tutorials I would try speak to people and make friends but everyone seems to have kept their secondary school friendgroups. Most would say hi back and not much else. After the orientation, I was the only guy in my group who didnt get asked to go for food with the rest of the guys.

I've developed a new sense of social anxiety in UCD as i'm always walking around by myself, and this isnt like me, i've had a solid group of friends my whole life and up until college I would say people would have described me as outgoing. I've tried going to different societies but I never ever feel welcome there, the people who run them are just straight up rude, and I have no clue why they would want a role like that, nevermind how they even got it.

On top of this my parents are on my ass trying to get me to go into college, and I wish I could just tell them what I've said here but I really dont want to get into it with them. I do feel guilty though because they are paying the annual fees and I guess i'm not making the most of their money.

I really dont enjoy college but I guess i'll just take my degree and get out of here. Sorry for the rant

Undergraduate Courses Similarity index fears

Hey guys, I recently finished my paper and I’m worried that I’ll score higher than 30% on the similarity index. I did use AI for formatting and minor sentence structure but I genuinely wrote most of my paper but I fear failing because I used AI at all. I ran it through an AI scanner and it came out 67% plagerism… I understand if you have a lot of quotes it’ll add to the % but I felt like 67% is insane. Is there anything I can do or any confirmed way to make sure that my paper doesn’t look like AI did it. I worked really hard and do not want to deal with this.
