Just wondering if anyone knows somewhere in Wellington where my partner could learn woodworking as a complete beginner. shes been watching TikToks of people making their own chairs, shelves, tables and drawers and really wants to give it a go, but she’s never used tools or done any woodwork before and is struggling to follow the tutorials herself.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone she can pay to teach her step by step, where she can bring a TikTok video of something she wants to make and actually build it herself with their guidence.
were hoping to do this sometime in November when I have a few weeks off work. I can drive her there and bring everything home afterwards, since getting a finished chair or table back on the train would be a bit of a mission haha.
Anyone know of any places or people that offer something like this? Any recommendations would be much apreciated, cheers

Hi there, the fast track application for wellington road has been approved and will going to a panel soon.
I live with several other people, we are a mix of students, yo pros and such. This will directly affect us and will probably force us into an eviction in the coming months.
What advice can we get in regards to submitting a review for the panel? Im not sure if this is the right place to post.
We love this spot and the surrounding community. We do not own the property. Thank you and kia pai te rā!

That felt like a long one (said the actress to the bishop)
Weirdly it doesn't seem to showing on Geonet yet so now I'm second-guessing myself. Good to see that some other people felt it too - perhaps I'm not losing my mind after all!

It's been a hot minute since I've seen an Aramex rant on this sub so thought we were all due another instalment...
The amateur parcel fumblers at Aramex just managed to deliver the second half of a two parcel consignment to me, a whole seven days after the first part was dropped in the middle of my driveway.
In between the first part arriving and the second, I was told three different lies.
At first when I queried over the phone why I only had one box and not two, aramex insisted that the delivery had not been completed at all. Once I had overcome their doubts about the existence of the first box in my possession they then claimed that there was an access issue for my house. Spoiler: there definitely isn't. In any case they had found a way to drop the first parcel on my flat access driveway, all of 5 metres from the street.
Next, when pursuing this again by email I was told that the driver could not find my address. Again, this was hard to reconcile with the fact that half of the consignment had already been delivered, that there are two house numbers visible from the street and that my property is readily findable on map services.
Finally, after increasingly robust overtures from both me and the company that had sent the parcel, I was told that they couldn't completely delivery because the parcel was over 25kg. I was invited to make a 1.5 hour round trip to the depot to collect it myself. Again this excuse was demonstrably false both by use of a weighing scales and by reading of the parcel label.
Got my parcel today, no explanation or apology. At some point I'll write them a shitty email, but I think they fuel their vans on customer disappointment, so they won't care.
Tldr Aramex really sucks. Sellers, please be aware that your own reputation risks being dragged through the dirt by use of this delivery company.
Ps. I do just want to acknowledge my 'parcel privilege' since I actually do have my parcels and I understand that others have suffered worse trauma

Just moved from Kapiti to the Hutt a few months ago, settled in within the last month, updated my CV and started volunteering again. Holy heck some of these employers are terrible. I'm going straight from hospo back into it so no issue getting interviews but the first 2 were AI; one wouldn't submit properly and the other had been given a prompt totally unrelated to the job listing. First job offer was by far the worst interview I've ever experienced, I could write a whole paragraph about how unprofessional and rude he was and I still cant believe he thought I'd want to work for him after the way he behaved. The second offer was for a job listed as full time, minimum 30 hours per week, 1st interview then a trial shift done before the manager tells me I'll be starting on a 0 hour minimum contract and let me know day-of when I can come into shifts. The 3rd was another listed as full time but when I got to the interview she said it'll probably be about 6 hours per week until it gets really busy while someones on holiday. My last part time hospo job manager before I moved called all the staff every morning at 7am to tell us if it seems busy enough for us to come to work or not. I swear it didn't use to be like this?

Hey everyone,
I’m currently planning a move from Dunedin up to Wellington. I’m looking for a 1 bed, 1 bath apartment right in the central city because both my job and university will be based there, and I won't have a car.
I’m originally from Porirua, so I did look into moving back around that area to save money, but I’ve been shocked by the prices. Being from Wellington, I know that prices have been expensive (especially because it's the capital) but coming back from Dunedin, Wellington's rental market is a massive step up... 1 beds feel like they cost 3x the price of a full house down south!
Since I have a bit of flexibility on my exact move date, I want to time it right to get the best deal possible. What month do y'all think landlords post the most reasonable or cheapest rents? Are there specific times of the year when student demand drops and prices dip, or does the central market stay brutal all year?
Apologies if I come off as though I have rose coloured glasses, just incredibly shocked!

How bloody good is that place just what Wellington needs when it’s dying! A ray of sunshine in this gloom!

Kia ora!
I've only just realised that Benjamin Clementine is coming to town this weekend, and I'm thinking of treating myself to a little solo concert date!
Unfortunately, like pretty much everyone else at the moment, funds are a bit tight! I noticed there's a discounted ticket offer on Ticketmaster, so I thought I'd try my luck and see if anyone happens to have a discount code they'd be willing to share.
Would be hugely appreciated!
