Why Is my best short performing the worst by a Mile??

Post image
• Upvotes

So this is my recent short i posted promoting my roblox game, the 90% view stat is high but yet it got only 17 views?? Every other short is arguably much worse is quality and got more than 1k views.

I dont understand at all how youtube works, can someone help? Should i delete and repost? Whats the point of spending an hour to edit, if it gets no views because youtube decided so.

50K Subs at My Age But What Should I Do Next

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I started making content just for fun and honestly never expected it to work. Then my Shorts started getting tons of views, I got monetized, and now I’m making a little money from my videos. I have around 50,000 subscribers, and I’d really like to turn this into something serious, but I’m not exactly sure how to go about it.
The problem is that my 7–9 second Shorts get a lot of views, but my long-form videos don’t really perform well. Almost nobody clicks through from my Shorts to my longer videos, and I don’t know how to get that audience interested in my other content.
My main question is: is it actually possible to grow a successful long-form channel even if your Shorts audience doesn’t watch your longer videos? Has anyone here managed to make that transition, and what worked for you?
I’ve also been thinking about doing a face reveal, but I’m really hesitant. It’s not that I mind people knowing what I do; it’s more about how they might look at me and judge me afterward. I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone, and I’m scared of revealing my face only for my content to flop anyway.
For some context, I don’t have many friends, so I spend quite a lot of time on my phone making videos at home while wearing a mask. At home, I’m really energetic, I laugh a lot, and I’m always in a good mood. But at school, I tend to keep to myself a little more. It’s not because I’m scared or shy; I just don’t really like the atmosphere or the way people at my school judge others.
The thing is, I’m still in high school, and everything is moving really fast. I feel like I could genuinely grow as a creator and turn this into something serious, but at the same time, I have to keep up with school and deal with the opinions of people around me. I’m not sure how to balance everything, especially now that things are starting to take off and I don’t want to miss out on opportunities.
So I’ve been asking myself a lot of questions. Should I stay anonymous, do a face reveal, or start focusing more on long-form videos, even though they aren’t performing well right now?
If you were in my position, what would you do? How would you grow your audience, get more people to watch your long-form videos, and deal with other people’s opinions while still going to high school?
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to share their advice!

Trying to build a comedy gaming channel where every gameplay session becomes its own mini-movie — TGLRGG

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’ve been building a gaming channel called TGLRGG and thought I’d actually explain what I’m trying to make rather than just dropping a link and asking people to subscribe.

The main idea is basically gaming + comedy + editing the gameplay into an actual story.

I don’t really enjoy the idea of uploading 30 minutes of untouched gameplay and calling it a video. When I record, I’m normally looking for some kind of story inside the session and then I edit around that — cold opens, call-backs, sound design, visual jokes, dramatic moments, stupid edits, little character moments and an actual payoff.

I basically try to treat each video like I’m directing a mini gaming movie, except half the time the main character is an idiot. 😂

The games change quite a lot, but that’s intentional.

At the moment I’ve got stuff like Gears of War: E-Day co-op campaign, Resident Evil 7, Marvel Rivals, Neighbours: Suburban Warfare and Hitman on the channel.

They all have slightly different angles too.

With Resident Evil, I’m genuinely terrible with horror, so most of the comedy comes from me trying to make jokes because I’m absolutely shitting myself.

With Gears, I’m doing the campaign co-op but editing it around the funny moments, deaths, fights and the actual journey rather than making it feel like a walkthrough.

Marvel Rivals is more challenges, ranked, ridiculous plays and trying stupid ideas that probably shouldn’t work.

Neighbours: Suburban Warfare is basically pure chaos and feels like the game was designed specifically for stupid comedy edits.

And then I’ve got JoJo, my Hitman character, where I’ve basically turned Hitman into its own episodic comedy storyline with recurring jokes and an actual plot.

The other big part of the channel is the TGLRGG avatar. I don’t use a facecam, so the white-hooded cyan/purple character basically represents me across thumbnails, intros, reactions and edits.

My long-term goal is that somebody can see that character and think:

“Oh shit, it’s a TGLRGG video.”

Even if the actual game is completely different.

I’m still early into the channel and obviously I want to eventually reach the point where it can start earning, but I’m trying not to obsess over just getting random subscribers.

I’d rather have 100 people who actually like the videos and come back than 1,000 people who subscribed once and never watch anything.

So the goal right now is basically:

build the editing style → build the character → build the audience → keep improving the videos.

I’ve already started seeing some of the Shorts reach a few thousand views, and I’m now putting more focus into making the long-form videos something people actually want to sit down and watch.

If comedy gaming, heavily edited videos and watching someone turn perfectly normal games into complete chaos sounds like something you’d enjoy, the channel is TGLRGG on YouTube.

If you genuinely enjoy it, obviously I’d massively appreciate a sub — but even just checking out one of the videos and telling me what works or what you’d improve would genuinely help.

I’m also interested in what other creators think:

Do you think a gaming channel can successfully switch between multiple games if the personality, editing style and branding stay consistent enough?

That’s basically the entire experiment I’m trying to prove with TGLRGG. 👑

I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and finally, a month ago, I took the first step. ❤️

I started sharing travel Shorts using videos I recorded along the way. I’m still learning, and I hope to get more ideas and inspiration from this community to keep improving.
Reaching my first 10 subscribers might seem like a small thing, but honestly, it means a lot to me. 🥹❤️
Every journey starts somewhere, and this is just the beginning of mine.

I guess the best way to explain what I'm feeling is when you're playing a game so well that you get called a hacker Imao.

Literally every line on my videos were drawn by me. I'm even making community posts to show the "behind the scenes" progression.

Hi folks. I just posted my TENTH! long for video. My channel focuses on silent vlogs and I’m still finding my way. But making this video sort of unlocked many things that I feel are guiding me towards my own style of videos and finding my own voice as a storyteller.

Starting YouTube isn’t easy at all. It takes so much energy in every way and I want to send a lot of strength to anyone else on this journey.

I wanted to share this video not only because I want everyone to see my cat lol, but also because I just feel proud of myself for actually making 10 freaking videos! It’s wild!

Now my next goal is to get to number 20.

I know numbers are important and I’d love to monetise my channel. I’m nowhere near that or I don’t even know if it will ever happen, but the things I’m finding about myself in this journey are making the whole thing worth it too.

I've been really exited to get close to hitting 100 subs! I know that isn't a lot, but I've been trynna do youtube for a very long time. At first i tried to do it my own way which really shafted me on progress. I recently got back into doing youtube the "correct" way, but i made a lot of mistakes lol.

I make funny gaming videos, i was inspired by vanossgaming and his editing style. When i was a kid his videos would brighten up my day, so I wanted to try and make videos like he use to. Funny gaming compilations and funtages, i was really proud of drawing my own thumbnails (which performed terribly). I didn't know how important packaging my videos were. I'm still learning, but i made way more progress than i have in the past.

If you have any suggestions to better my channel I'd appreciate the feedback or constructive criticism. I've already looked into ways to better my thumbnails to engage the viewer :)

I wish I made more money

Not sure how to write this post. I'm a gaming creator with around 60k subs, averaging around 15.5k views per video. Right now I make a few hundred a month via adsense and a few hundred from Patreon.

With these subscriber numbers and view counts, is this a realistic place to pursue sponsors? I always see people saying you should average maybe 30k-50k per vid before you start really seeking sponsors. I've been doing this full time for a few years but the juice just ain't looking like it's quite worth the squeeze anymore, and if I really need to hit the eject button and go back to the job world then I accept that. But I'm wondering if I can still diversify and get my money up from this before I decide if it's time to call it quits for real.

My content has largely focused on topical gaming discussion for the last year or so, before that I focused more on evergreen formats. I'm planning to lean back into Long-form evergreen stuff moving forward.

Is it realistic to reach 4,000 watch hours posting once a week? (Before it changes to 8,000)

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m trying to grow my vlog channel and would love to hear your experiences and opinions.

My goal is to reach the 4,000 qualified watch hours before the requirements increase to 8,000 in February 2027. Do you think it’s realistic to achieve this by posting one video per week?

I’m not a full-time YouTuber. I have a job and I’m also in college, so I can’t dedicate all my free time to creating content. I’m trying to find a posting schedule that’s sustainable for me.

I also have a lot of footage from a previous trip to Japan, so my plan is to re-edit some of that content into new videos with more engaging editing, better titles, and thumbnails to attract new viewers. I’m hoping this will help me reach people who haven’t discovered my channel yet.

I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. I know growth takes time, but I’d like to make the most of the time I have available without burning myself out.

Thanks!
