Honestly, I came home from university for Puja, thinking I’d get to enjoy the holidays but I ended up having absolutely no plans.There’s no Puja celebration in my local area, all my friends have gone their separate ways and are busy with their own plans and my family members are busy too.

So here I am, at home with nothing much to do while everyone else seems to be enjoying the festive season.

So, what are you guys doing this Puja? Any plans, recommendations or suggestions for someone who has no plans at all?

Hello, I’m a 28-year-old man, and I got married ten months ago through an arranged marriage.
After our marriage, my wife always maintained a distance from me. I thought she might be an introvert and needed some time to adjust to her new life. So, I tried my best to make her feel comfortable. I took her on honeymoon trips and several vacations, and eventually, I noticed that her mood had improved and she had started opening up to me.
However, she was always on her phone, texting someone. Honestly, I never questioned her about it because I assumed she was probably talking to her friends.
Long story short, she gradually started communicating less and less with me again. Several incidents and arguments followed, and eventually, things reached a breaking point.
On the final day, I asked her if she could share her phone password with me. I had already unlocked my phone and allowed her to check it, but she refused to give me access to hers. Instead, she started screaming at me and saying, “Ami shongshar korbo na” (I don’t want to continue this marriage).
She then called her father and asked him to come over. He arrived, but no solution came out of the situation. Instead, he told her to take her gold jewelry and clothes and leave.
Honestly, the situation deeply hurt my self-respect. However, I didn’t try to stop her because I was afraid that things could escalate and she might file a false নারী নির্যাতন মামলা against me.
Thankfully, my younger sister recorded a video of my wife taking her belongings when she left. Later, her father told my mother that he would try to correct his daughter’s behavior and bring her back.
I was already hurt and confused by everything that had happened. Then, after a week, my wife started reposting some strange things on social media, so I decided to block her.
Her father then called my father to complain about why I had blocked her. They made an issue out of it and even called my mother, saying, “We won’t give our daughter to you.”
At this point, my entire family is emotionally distressed, and the situation has created a lot of tension at home.
Now, her family is also denying that they took the gold jewelry with them, even though my younger sister has a video of my wife leaving with her belongings.
I honestly don’t know what to do anymore.
What should I do next? How should I proceed legally? Should I try to save this marriage, or should I consider divorce? And what kind of divorce lawyer should I hire in Bangladesh to handle this situation properly?
I would really appreciate your advice and guidance on how to handle this matter without making things worse for myself or my family.

Hi everyone!

I’m going to tutor an English Medium student who is currently in Class 7. I’ll be teaching Bangla, Science, and BGS three days a week. I’ll also help with other subjects occasionally if the student has any difficulties.

On Social media we see so much talk, but how many of us intend to work, on the ground?

In a recent incident in Satkhira, where a mob attacked a guy who was accused of hurting religious sentiments. The mob attacked twice, and the second attack happened right at the hospital where they ensured his death. His family members tried to defend him by claiming he was mentally unstable. Clearly, they said that because they’re too afraid to call it an injustice. Even if he were not mentally unstable, does it validate or in any way justify such an incident?

Has any legal action been taken regarding this incident or police is just waiting for someone to file a case? I'm almost sure no legal action has been taken, primarily because no one has filed any complain and secondly it was a mob and no single individual can be traced. The primary reason is pretty logical though. If any family member comes forward to file a case, there is a high possibility of them being targeted by another mob as the government will fail to ensure their security. And the second cause is kinda looking like an establishment of long run ignorance. And, at least this government can't fix it. 

I have to say that, our current government fears the radical group of people in our country. Far from taking action in such an incident, they do not even have the guts to openly admit that the incident was unlawful and inappropriate. Not even a single responsible person from our government has spoken about this issue. It looks like they're trying to avoid this issue as much as possible because if they say something, their statement will offend a massive group of people. It clearly shows how much the government fears the jongis of this country.

I wonder how the leftists also choose to remain silent. And, I do not want to talk about the student(NCP) leaders because they lost their credibility and showed their real faces long ago. In fact, the mob was introduced by them after the so called revolution. But the disappointing thing is, people thought these young leaders are much more progressive and liberal than any other political party out there, they're against any kind of violence, they believe in secularism, freethinking and most importantly freedom of speech. But they proved us wrong. I remember those days when students expected them to take action to ban student politics on university campus, but they ended up starting politics themselves and formed ties with Jamaat immediately after stepping into politics. That was an insane mockery.

Coming back to the recent issue, I never support hurting anyone's religious sentiments under any circumstances. But honestly it seems so selective in our country. Take the recent incident at Jagannath university where students cooked beef right in front of a Hindu temple. Doesn't that hurt religious sentiments? When university authority took action, they started protesting over it. If you think they were giving justification of their act, you’re completely wrong. Their protest was all about making a threat and showing that it’s their right to cook and eat beef in front of Hindu temple, no matter whose religious sentiments get hurt. The same group of people turns 180 degrees when it happens to their own sentiments. Most surprisingly, young educated university students are doing this, who’re considered as the future of our country.                                        

Lastly, In early days you supported the mob and even attached the word justice to it because it was only targeting the Awami League. As a result, it is now completely uncontrollable and has become a systemic crisis.

Which organizations rescue newborns or babies who are a few months old along with their mothers? There is a woman with a newborn baby living on the streets of the Jamalkhan area. The woman looks pretty sick, and I'm afraid something might happen to the baby.

Is there any way we can rescue them? I'd be happy to provide for their accommodation. Just a safe place where their basic needs will be taken care of.

Sorry, I literally have no idea where to reach out or what to do in these types of situations, but I want to help. If anyone can guide me on where I should reach out for this type of situation, I would be truly grateful.

বাংলাদেশের হাফেজরা আন্তর্জাতিক হিফজুল কোরআন প্রতিযোগিতায় পুরস্কার অর্জন করলে আমরা গর্বিত হই। কিন্তু আমার প্রশ্ন হলো, এই অর্জনের প্রকৃত মূল্য কোথায় এবং তা থেকে দেশ ও জাতি কী পাচ্ছে?

প্রতিযোগিতা শেষে দেশে ফিরে পুরস্কার হাতে রাস্তাঘাটে শোডাউন, সংবর্ধনা আর প্রচার-প্রচারণার যে আয়োজন দেখা যায়, সেগুলোর উদ্দেশ্য কী? একজন হাফেজের আন্তর্জাতিক সাফল্য অবশ্যই সম্মানের। কিন্তু সেই সম্মান প্রদর্শন কি শেষ পর্যন্ত পুরস্কার প্রদর্শনীর মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ থাকছে?

আরেকটি বিষয় লক্ষণীয়। আমার জানামতে, আন্তর্জাতিক প্রতিযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশের প্রতিনিধিত্ব ও পুরস্কার অর্জনের ক্ষেত্রে ঘুরেফিরে কয়েকটি নির্দিষ্ট মাদ্রাসার শিক্ষার্থীদের নামই বেশি সামনে আসে। এর পেছনে উন্নত প্রশিক্ষণ ও প্রস্তুতির ভূমিকা থাকতে পারে। আবার সুযোগ ও বাছাইপ্রক্রিয়ায় কোনো প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক একচেটিয়াত্ব আছে কি না, সেটিও স্বচ্ছ তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে খতিয়ে দেখা দরকার।

আমার কয়েকটি প্রশ্ন:

১. দেশে ফিরে পুরস্কার হাতে শোডাউন ও সংবর্ধনার আয়োজন ছাড়া এই অর্জনকে কোরআন শিক্ষা, গবেষণা কিংবা সমাজের নৈতিক উন্নয়নে কাজে লাগানোর কী উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হচ্ছে?

২. আন্তর্জাতিক প্রতিযোগিতায় প্রতিনিধি নির্বাচনের প্রক্রিয়া কতটা উন্মুক্ত? দেশের সব মাদ্রাসার মেধাবী হাফেজদের কি সমান সুযোগ দেওয়া হয়?

৩. কয়েকটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের শিক্ষার্থীরাই যদি বারবার সুযোগ পান, তাহলে এর কারণ কী? প্রশিক্ষণের মান, নাকি বাছাইপ্রক্রিয়ায় অন্য কোনো প্রভাব রয়েছে?

৪. পুরস্কার অর্জনের পর এসব হাফেজের শিক্ষা, ভবিষ্যৎ এবং কোরআনের জ্ঞান মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর দীর্ঘমেয়াদি পরিকল্পনা কী?

আমি হাফেজদের অর্জনকে খাটো করছি না। তাঁদের পরিশ্রম ও যোগ্যতার যথাযথ স্বীকৃতি প্রাপ্য। প্রশ্নটা তাঁদের নিয়ে নয়, বরং অর্জন উদ্‌যাপনের ধরন এবং এর প্রকৃত সামাজিক উপযোগিতা নিয়ে।

কোরআনের প্রতিযোগিতায় পুরস্কার পাওয়া নিঃসন্দেহে গৌরবের। কিন্তু পুরস্কার হাতে রাস্তায় শোডাউন দেওয়াই যদি অর্জনের সবচেয়ে দৃশ্যমান ফল হয়, তাহলে কোরআনের শিক্ষা থেকে সমাজ কী পেল, সেই প্রশ্নও তোলা উচিত।

Hello there, I am using an old iPhone(12 mini) which works great for me and I really don’t want to waste money on new phones unless this one dies. But this days i am facing a serious battery issue. সাম্প্রতিক জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গরু জবাই এবং আরও সব কিচ্ছু মিলেই নিজের লিখা টা লিখছি। শিবির বিরোধী লিখা লিখলেই শিবির গুলো এসে আমাকে ট্যাগ দিবে বাজে গালি দিবে। একজন দিচ্ছে দেখে সাভাবিক মানুষ ও দিবে এইটা ফেসবুকের রীতি নীতি হয়ে গেছে এইজন্য ফেসবুক চালাইতে মন চায় না এখন আর। এসেছি এইখানে। দেখাযাক এখন কি পরিমাণ গালি খাই অথবা মানুষ এর ব্রেন আছে নাকি এইখানেও ব্রেন ওয়াস পাবলিক দিয়ে ভরে গেছে?

শিবির গুলো বাংলাদেশ কে ধ্বংস করে দিবে। মানুষ কেনো বুঝতেছে না আমি বুঝি না। মানুষ এর ব্রেন কই যাচ্ছে দিন দিন? এইসব ( জগন্নাথ এর গরু খাওয়া ইস্যু) ডাঙ্গা লাগাইলে এর পর বিশ্বের কাছে আমরা কীভাবে মুখ দেখাবো? মক্কা মদিনা তে তো ইহুদি নাসারা ও ছিল রাসুল্লাহ কি গিয়ে গিয়ে তাদের গির্জা ভেঙে দিয়েছে বা হত্যা করেছে বা গিয়ে তাদের খাবার এর মধ্যে গরু দিয়ে আসছে ? উল্টো একটা হাদীস এ দেখা গেছে যেখানে উনি অন্য ধর্মের একজন এর বাসায় গিয়ে ও বকরির মাংস খেয়েছে। মুফত মেইংক এর ভিডিও তে দেখেছি।

সেইখানে শিবির গুলো মূলত চাচ্ছে যেনো দেশে সাম্প্রদায়িক ডাঙ্গা লাগে এই সুযোগে যেনো ভারত raw RSS পাঠিয়ে দেয় দেশে। এবং বিএনপি গভর্মেন্ট ফল করে এর পর ভারত এর সাথে নেগোসিয়েশন করে ক্ষমতায় যেতে পারে। এইদিকে বাঙ্গির ছেলে গুলো এইসব না বুঝেই সারাদিন বিএনপি কে গালি দেয় আর বলে শিবির ভালো । ফেসবুক ভরে গেছে শিবির এর সাপোর্টার দিয়ে মানুষ এর ব্রেন এর গভীর থেকে ওয়াশ করছে এইসব শিবির গুলো। ইসলাম কে ব্যবহার করে ইসলাম কে ধ্বংস করে দিচ্ছে। আল্লাহ সহায় হউক। মানুষ কে হেদায়েত দান করুক।জামাত এর ফ্যাসিস্ট হয়ে উঠার মাঝে ব্যবধান শুধু ক্ষমতার।

Hi everyone! I’ve tried making Kacchi Biryani at home a few times, but it never tastes quite like the restaurant version. The mutton is perfectly tender, the rice is fragrant but not mushy, and every layer is distinct.

I am a Bangladeshi living abroad. I have several questions about friendship in Bangladesh.

How does friendship work in Bangladeshi people? Between boys, girls and between boys and girls.

Personal experience: I had difficulty befriending my peer because I just couldn't ... understand their mindset? (Probably because I grew up witnessing two cultures and was able to see the good and bad in each.) I don't know how to explain it. Whenever I try to engage with them, I just feel like the connection is very ... superficial? I feel like this also happens when I try to connect with my relatives from Bangladesh. I hope someone can relate to this in the comments.

From what I heard (siblings and their friends): I have heard that friendship in Bangladesh is give and take relationship. Meaning if you give a gift, it must be returned. If you ask them about their day, they will do that back but never take the initiative. And people rarely talk about their personal struggles to friends. Like they are afraid to do so. They also said that the relationship is more related to physical proximity. As in they will befriend you if you exist in their vicinity and when you move away, they barely reach out and treat you as a friend.

My question to you:

Can you tell me about your personal experience or what you had seen in that regard, in Bangladesh? And why do you think the friendship is like that?

Note: I would also appreciate it if you gave me slight information about your background like whether you moved back to the country from abroad or moved from one city to another (not necessary but will appreciate it). And also, can you mention what city are you talking about as cultures differ from one city to another?
