Patient If chemo ruined your fingernails...

Hey all, just wanted to share something that helped me.

Chemo had my nails peeling and splitting up into the nail bed and it was painful and awful.

I started using "Hard as Hoof" by Onyx and also some 100% Jojoba oil.

I keep one near my bed and one near my chair in the living room and I just oil my nails with these products at least once a day.

My nails are actually in better shape now than they've ever been in my life.

Anyway I figured this could be good info for anyone else who is struggling with it.

Patient I’m scared

There’s a new lump by my neck. I am 21 and I had my cancer ( Parotid gland ) at 14 and second one at 19. I’m scared to even go to my oncologist to consult. I feel like I’ll be disappointing everyone. I am not even scared for me but everyone around me. I saw how hard the other 2 hit them. They were there for me but they were also hurting. They don’t deserve this. My family, my friends, my boyfriend they don’t deserve this.

Patient Lung cancer: Everything tastes like cardboard, even before chemo. Any advice?

My dad has lung cancer and he's really struggling with eating. It's been about 4 months now and he's basically surviving on high-calorie nutritional shakes just to get enough calories in.

He says everything tastes like cardboard or paper. There's just no flavor at all. Sometimes the first one or two bites are okay, but after that he gets completely disgusted by the food and can't eat any more.

Even when he tries, he'll sit there chewing the tiniest bite for what feels like 10 minutes before he can finally swallow it. Eating has become such a struggle for him and it honestly feels like he's forcing himself through every single bite.

The strange thing is that this all started one month before his very first chemo, so we think it might be related to the lung cancer itself.

Has anyone here experienced something similar? Especially before starting treatment?

Did anything help at all? Certain foods, medications, anything that made eating easier or brought back even a little bit of taste?

I'm really grateful for any tips or personal experiences. I just want him to be able to eat and enjoy food again.

Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to reply.

Patient The last few months have been rough

I’m 31 and survived breast cancer while pregnant and then went into heart failure from the chemo and pregnancy while starting radiation. I was then out on letrozole and ever since my menopause has been such a mess. I am so mean. I hate cancer. I’m so mad at it. It robbed me of so much. And sometimes it takes me to a dark dark place. That’s why I also made a subreddit dedicated to opening up about the realities of cancer, especially in young patients. r/CancerSnark . It’s the place to bitch, because lord knows only you guys understand the pain while trying to be grateful.

Patient Adrenal cancer

Hello everyone!

Not sure where to start.... And I am not sure how to go about explaining what goes on with me. On August 22nd I went into the hospital for pain due to my endometriosis. What I thought was going to be a quick hospital visit ended up being a three day stay. They found a mass in my adrenal gland and in my liver. My workers were high but the oncologist that came to visit me said they could not rule out cancer. Anyways ... After a pet scan, MRIs and CT scans. I seem to have adrenal gland cancer. I am having two operations at once in November one for a full hysterectomy and the other one for the removal of the mass.which is the size of a softball. Not sure how I have been walking through life with all of this inside. Not sure how to feel about anything anymore....

I just feel really angry all of the time since I am not even 50 yet. I am just not sure of anything anymore.

Anyone else? I feel like I have changed forever...

Patient New here, any long-time patients/survivors got financial tips?

I just got diagnosed with liver cancer, so the doctor forced me to stop working. All I got is short term disability which pays half my salary. at that rate, i'll be homeless, especially after paying the child support.

just stopped working yesterday so i'm kinda in limbo. Oh yea, came from dysfunctional family so i have nobody to support me. non-retired veteran in wisconsin btw, just completed full 6 year term to pay for college about a little over a decade ago.

Never expected to write here but oh well.. I, 23F, had surgery for a brain tumor and I am now waiting for the genetic screening results...

For those who have LFS... What did your biopsy result show ? Did you have 2 TP53 mutations ? What were the allele frequencies ?

Thanks for answering...
