Hi everyone, I just adopted a cat from a friend, who has since left the country.
They say they got no idea what it is, and they got this cat from SPCA in Canada like a year ago.
I notice these markings inside the cat’s ears like a week later…
Do you guys have any idea what it likely is?

my dad buddy went fishing like 2-3 weekend ago and found these babies tied up in a trash bag and left at the lake.
They still had closed eyes and folded ears. it’s absolutely disgusting that someone can be so fucking cruel towards an animal.
also i love the little girls grey, orange, and white coats. it’s so adorable!

I was doing maintenance on my tanks when he dug into the fish bin.
He looks very proud, not an ounce of guilt.

i knew it would be happening soon, i just didn’t expect it to be so sudden. 6 months ago we found fluid around his heart after he had a panting episode. he already had stage three chronic kidney disease, and now the beginning of heart failure. i was told he has less than a year. they drained it, and he got out on medication. he has been stable.
but last night the same panting episode happened again and he lost control of his bowels. we went to the er vet and the fluid was just. everywhere in his chest. worse than it was 6 months ago.
i wanted to drain it again, have some more time, but with how bad it was there was not telling if the fluid would be back in just a few hours. so i made the hardest decision of my life to let him go
i was able to hold him the entire time. i felt him leave. he was my best friend for almost 19 years . i’ve never felt loss on this scale before and i don’t know what to do.
up until last night he was eating regularly and playing and being his best self. it was so sudden , but at least it happened when i was here and not when i was at work. at least he wasn’t alone
i hope you’re resting easy Mista Kitty. I will always love you

Yesterday we said goodbye to our sweet Mad Eye. She was 18, and lived with us for almost 10 years exactly. No one who met Mad Eye could help but love her. She was the most affectionate cat I’ve ever met. On the day we met her at her foster home, she jumped into my arms and insisted on being held like a baby, and she did it every day of the next decade until this last week, when she was too tired to jump anymore. Even still, yesterday morning, I picked her up to snuggle and she purred away like it was the best day of her life, even though she’d barely eaten in two days. She was with us through COVID, surgeries, illnesses, two moves, and so much more. She slept on my pillow and joined all of my meetings, and she screamed at us whenever we got home, whether it had been two weeks or twenty minutes, because she wanted us beside her always. I genuinely don’t know what we’ll do without her, but I don’t regret a thing. Rest in peace, my sweet girl. We’ll see you on the other side.

I had rescued this handsome boy at the height of COVID in November of 2020. He was my Covid buddy, kept me sane. My first ever pet, I had no idea what I was doing. Together, we moved to Toronto and back, moved in with my now wife, shared laughs and loss.
We unfortunately had to put him down today at the age of 7. We’re not sure what happened, but in the last 5 days, he completely lost the use of his back legs and his front ones were unstable. He was diagnosed with diabetes in May of this year, and there was suspicion of pancreatic cancer. Considering all his symptoms, the vet thought it was a combination of multiple factors, including possibly a stroke.
I couldn’t let him continue like this, he already had multiple accidents with the litter in the last few days.
I already miss you Scotty, it’s only been 6 hours. You are, and always will be, my friend.

I’ve had her for a week and we were making FAST progress, she was under the couch for two days but the third day she came out and started exploring and letting me pet her, she would even come to my bed and sit with me for a few minutes and let me kiss her head. Yesterday I really needed to vacuum and I thought she would be fine on her tree but as soon as she heard it she darted. She’s been hiding since yesterday and won’t come out so I’ve been trying to build back trust with treats and talking to her softly… I hope I didn’t mess everything up 😖😖😖 the third pic was her before :c

My little Bella passed away yesterday, and her brother Garfield is missing 💔🐾
Yesterday, while I was at school, our sweet little Bella was hit by a car. She was only around 4–5 months old. She was still just a baby, and it hurts so much that she’s gone.
The first photo is Bella when we found her. The second photo is her just one day before, when she was still here with us. I can’t believe how quickly everything changed. She deserved so much more time. 🥺
The third photo is her brother, Garfield. He went missing two days ago, and we still haven’t found him. I’m so worried about him, especially after what happened to Bella. They were both so young.I hope we can find him soon.
Rest peacefully, my little Bella. You were loved, and you will never be forgotten. 🤍🤧

Background: I rescued a 7 month old cat from a neighboring apartment where the owners abandoned her with no food or clean water for weeks. The apartment was filthy and full of maggots.
First 24 hours, she hid in the bathroom cupboard.
Slowly, she started showing a lot of affection and then showed desperation for snuggles and praise. Still, any noise whatsoever -- keys, the refrigerator hum, people walking by outside -- caused her to run back into the cupboard.
She put weight on after her first week, and her fur became fluffier. The vet said she was healthy and she got shots. At the vet, she shook so hard her carrier was shaking. I've never seen a cat more terrified for their life just from being in a car (and I have had many cats in the past).
My husband and I named her Louie.
Louie's finally started coming out of her shell late at night, finally learning to play with toys and occasionally getting the zoomies. She can kind of meow now and has learned how to ask for food.
The good news is that Louie LOVES me. She trusts me 100%. She's healthy, curious, and shows zero aggression.
The issue is that Louie can hardly function if I am not around. She MUST be touching (or at least have me in her eyeline) at all times, even when I'm going to the bathroom. When I go out, she panics and hides under the bed even if my husband (who can pet her if I'm around with no problems) is home. She needs to be on me always. She even tries to climb up my body, like a toddler asking for uppies.
Don't get me wrong, it's SO cute. I love the cuddles. But, I am concerned she is overly identifying her sense of safety with me specifically.
I spent the last 3.5 weeks assuring her that she is safe. But it seems like now she only associates safety with my presence. I know she was deeply traumatized, and I'm so happy she feels secure with me, but I worry she isn't developing self-confidence. I don't want to trigger the abandonment by leaving all day, but I also don't want her to think she's in danger if I'm not around for the day.
Anyone have tips on how to help Louie grow a sense of confidence and independence?
Also, anyone know how long it might take a young, traumatized cat to feel secure?
TLDR: my traumatized, new cat seems to only feel safe at all when she is touching me. How do I help her feel confident on her own?

It’s been one year after his rainbow crossing, and I’m devastated. Time shouldn’t go this fast. It feels like just yesterday we had to say goodbye.
He was 11, I had him 7 years, and it wasn’t nearly long enough.
I met him visiting my best friend at his girlfriend’s apartment. She had 3 cats & a dog.
I sat down and one of the cats immediately presented himself, they said “This one is Rocky.” He was super friendly, he started rubbing himself on my pants and head butting my hand. My roommate had a sweet loveable cat, so I was familiar with cats wanting their scent on you. Then to my best friend & his girlfriends utter shock, he jumped on my lap. They said “You don’t know how big of a deal this is, he NEVER gets on anyone’s lap. He must really like you.” I replied quoting one of my favorite anime, “A good hunter is well liked by animals.”-(Hunter X Hunter.) And I spent my couple hours there petting the new friend on my lap, while he purred & head butted my hand and face. I already felt a deep connection with this cat. He was so sweet and friendly, I told his momma, if there’s ever any reason you need to let him go, please tell me and I’ll come get him right away.
Fast forward a couple months, I received a message from her, letting me know they were moving across the country. “I know my best friend told me, I’m happy for you guys and wish you guys the best.”
Then she said that she can’t keep 3 cats in a car for a week while moving across the country, and asked one of the questions that changed my life, “are you still interested in keeping Rocky?”
I told her yes I am, and she added the stipulation, “I’ll give you Rocky, only if you can also take Nicki, they’re a bonded pair and need to stay together.”
I caught a glimpse of shy anxious girl Nicki the night I met Rocky. All I saw of her was a fluff ball mid air jumping over the gate to the bedroom that was dividing the bedroom from the living room.
I wanted Rocky so bad, I said yes to keeping Nicki too.
I drove 2 hours from my place back to their apartment, and she had them in cat carriers. She said goodbye to them, and I promised her I would do everything I can to make sure they have a good home. And drove 2 hours back to my apartment, with 2 cats meowing the entire ride.
I got back to my shared apartment, went to my room and opened the carriers.
Rocky immediately got out, sniffed me, headbutt my hand, & started exploring his new room. While I was staring at Rocky explore, I caught a glimpse of a familiar fluff ball dart from the carrier to underneath the bed. I shone my phone flashlight under the bed, and saw the prettiest little fluff ball I’d ever seen, anxious beautiful little Nicki.
My life had immediately changed for the better having been gifted these 2.
The next 7 years were filled of Rocky greeting me at the door every day, trying to sneak outside like Houdini, talk my ears off (he was such a vocal talkative baby boy,) head butt me every chance he had, playing with toys, buying cat trees, kisses, cuddling next to me (as they informed when I met him, he RARELY gets on people,) and every once in a blue moon sitting on my lap/chest. While Nicki his anxious sister/wife (not sure which) waits in her safe space (the room,) for food, hunting (playing,) and cuddles (on my chest specifically.)
His final year, I took him to the vet because we noticed he was losing weight. I thought it was because we changed his diet from free feeding dry food, to wet cat food 3x per day. I truly was in denial he could be sick. When I finally accepted he had lost more weight than just a change of diet, I took him to get checked. Vet said all his blood work was normal, which relieved me. But scheduled a biopsy because she did think something might be wrong, and a little while later the results came, she informed me he had Lymphoma. I was in disbelief. I always joked about him living to 130 with me. I thought I would have much more time with him.
All I could do to help with limited funds, was change his diet again to limited ingredient wet cat food and a lickable high calorie sachet packet, which helped, he was able to digest & have normal poops. Those final months he was not okay, he would throw up bile regularly, and pee in the bed fairly often. Being in his final months I topped his cat food with boiled & shredded tilapia. He LOVED it.
He never lost his appetite after I changed his food to limited ingredient wet food, high calorie sachet & topped it with tilapia. I was happy he was still eating & eating a lot.
But that didn’t change that, he was still getting skinnier and weaker. He stopped climbing the cat trees, and eventually got so tired he stopped greeting me at the door. He could barely jump on the couch to cuddle next to me anymore.
At a certain point, I knew he was telling me, it was his time. I made the appointment. We spent his last week talking him outside to the park, he loved rolling in the grass, making his favorite food, and cuddling as much as possible. His last day, we had him say goodbye to Nicki. I feel like she had known he was sick, and nearing his end. And took him to the vet.
He spent his last moments eating his favorite food, and crossed the rainbow bridge with a belly full of tilapia, Koha cat food, high calorie sachet, and churu.
We left the vet, and my world was shattered. My bestest buddy, my partner in crime, my baby boy was gone.
It was hardest those first few months, opening the door, and him not being there to greet me with his meows telling me about his day. Not being next to me & following me everywhere I go.
I can’t believe it’s been a year already.
Thank you for being the best friend, and the bestest boy I could ever have wished for.
I miss you, and will miss you always and forever Rock, Rockaflock, Rockarock, flockarock, Rockaford Wellington III, ASAP Rocky.
We’ll continue to watch over Nicki for you, & give her the best life with all the cuddles she could ever wish for.

Adopted you when you were shy over 1 year old. You were my first pet ever. My first cat. My first adventure. My first forever. From us being unsure of each other, afraid of new experiences to us relying on each other every single day for your whole 9 years.. Every morning you would greet us good morning. Scream at us when we woke up late. Be the first to say welcome home all the time and always always always reminding us that there's always time to give love and treats.
You loved the aircon with a passion. Your ekekekek chirps when we ask "where's the bird??" You sitting down like the sweetest angel the moment i said Treats! Your health took a decline rapidly all of a sudden and we had to put you to sleep. We didn't want you to suffer anymore. You tried so hard to fight back but the seizures just kept coming and coming.
I still can't believe it. I never thought the day would come. You even were lucid for awhile before we had to say goodbye. You even said "Mama dada i love you." before you slept peacefully. Even at the very end, you still managed to comfort our heavy hearts. And when it happened, you looked so happy sleeping. Smiling.. like the baby you are.
My first heartbreak. Rest easy my angel. I will never get used to not waking up to your voice and you making biscuits on me anymore. We love you with all our hearts. To Nana, my sweetest baby angel. The love of our lives. 💔

My husband said she must’ve snuck out last night and didn’t notice until this morning. I’m not posting for sympathy, just please tell me she’ll return soon. We’ve done everything we can so far to find her and we’re making flyers to post around the apartment complex. I’m hopeful she’ll come back and happy that the weather isn’t hot like it usually is out here. We didn’t clip her nails bc our dog Nikki chewed them up a few weeks ago so at least she can defend herself. It’s really hard to stay positive and the apartment is so quiet without her around. Ripley and Nikki were best buddies. They slept together, played together, and ate together so I know our dog is also sad that she’s not around. If prayer works, I’m praying like crazy.
EDIT: Thank you everyone for your kind words and success stories. Taking every bit of advice seriously and I feel more hopeful about finding our girl. Our dog is just moping around the apartment sniffing and laying in Ripleys bed (which was originally Nikki’s bed but Ripley claimed it and our dog accepted it and laid on a different bed instead). Going to look for her again tonight, my husband is still looking for her bc I had a panic attack. Trying to remain calm and hope for the best. Thanks again you guys <33
