Again. There are a ton of people coming to Forever that are not strictly classic players. People coming over who haven’t played for years, who like the idea of classic design, but don’t want to play on classic era because it’s dated and old, but don’t want the direction of retail whatsoever.
That group is pretty significant and also has an equal voice in these things.
Forever is built for classic players. It’s meant to be Vanilla under active development. The devs have said this countless times.
People who think Era is dated and old are not classic players. People who enjoy Era, but want to play an actively developed version of the same thing, are the Classic players who Forever is built for.
That is the whole core of the problem, Blizzard not knowing or caring about their audience and doing the same thing they have done that ended in todays state of retail.
We know that they are trying to take the easy way out and just create the way that they've known for the last 15 years, and we've seen where that leads.
Peoples trust here in blizzard is insanely low, so classic community feels the obligation to steer them in the correct course by giving feedback, which retail players take offense to cause it says their way/taste is not good. They like strawberry, we like vanilla.
The first thing they said on stage was "THIS IS CLASSIC+". And they've clearly fucked up somewhere if they thought hd models would go over swell.
I truly don't believe that making changes and building something in /new direction/ will lead it straight back to retail. Making different decisions as development continues will lead it to be it's -own unique thing-.
Not Classic era, Not Retail. This will inevitably reach this point as long as Forever actually lasts and doesen't completely die.
Classic+ is the buzzword that was being used at the time, to consistently reference basically of WoW being developed, branching off of Classic design philosophy, but supported and actively developed like the primary branch of WoW.
I am one of the players that does not want retail, I do not want Classic era, I want Classic's design philosophy of removing convenience, promoting player engagement with eachother. While making it have stylized graphics and environment that actually makes it seem like its a game made in the modern era.
There are many many players just like me in that regard, which is why its not meant to be just classic era, nor retail.
Well just as many want vanilla engine with new zones, content and changes, but keeping it looking like the original game, the best mmo gaming experience ever put to pixel imo. If we could have a proper toggle that respects both, then we could all be happy i guess.
Thats why this is a combination of all these communities.
They've said they want to add Housing, Transmog is added. All sorts of things are going to be added that 'retail' has in the goal of horizontal progression.
It will be it's own thing, I try not to shame for those who want more original identity, but there is such a heavy vitriol even in just this subreddit and disdain for their fellow community members with different opinions than them, that it leads to an absolutely toxic environment.
For example, I don't mind at all that they are going to add Skyborne SD models for you guys, thats awesome that you pushed for that. Can we not have the same support when they add HD models of things? That'd just greatly be appreciated and help turn down the heat on the animosity that this community has had for eachother.

That’s bait, it’s the opposite. People who aren’t tied entirely to era. Want changes, HD game with classic philosophy design.
Meanwhile we gotta deal with pitchforks and torches over a potential chicken mount.
