I don't have sick time or vaction time. Its called PTO.... You can schedule off days, but more than 8 days sick a year and you're fired. So less sick time and more figure out how to cure your illness in less than a day or two.

What a terrible place to spend more time at than anywhere else in your life.

Remember, work is where you live most of your life, don't live in a shithole.

That statement in itself is fucking sad. Why would you spend most of your life at work?

That’s called a full-time job, in most places in the US.

I know it’s not the majority of the hours in a week, but if you work 8hrs a day, 5 days a week.. Realistically more than when you factor in commutes… And then you get just two days off away from the place. Oh, maybe your job has rotating mandatory overtime every other week? Now half the time you only get a single day off or some shit.

Shit needs to get upended, but Americans are too stupid, lazy, and cowardly to do anything about it.

I feel like Americans are brainwashed into believing that working a job serves some higher purpose. It’s fucking sad.

No, we just have no choice. If you don’t have a job, you become homeless because safety nets are practically non existent. And our whole society here demonizes homeless people. The only homeless people noticed or remarked on are the chronically homeless, many of whom are drug addicts, some of whom turned to drugs after becoming homeless to cope with the misery of it. There’s an invisible group of homeless, couch surfing, living in cars, etc.

The propaganda combined with a fear tactic of “you don’t want to end up like that” is very effective. Complain about your job? Get told “at least you have one.” Complain about your living expenses/rent? Get told “at least you have a place to live”

It’s a fucking mess.

I’m sorry

Thanks. Most of us want to change it. But collective action isn’t very effective when the government supports oppression of workers and the cost of dissent is so high. There’s marches and protests but those are mostly useless. It’s something people do to feel like they have power. It’s a useful tool of control because it lets people feel like they’re doing something without changing anything

Have you guys considered the French way?

I’m pretty sure our current government would mobilize the military against its own people. Already happened a few times. But we’re getting there. Things are getting unliveable for too many people

It really is.

I feel lucky in a way that I work 36 hours in just 3 days over the weekend. I don’t particularly like my job or work or anything, but I don’t know if I can give up the freedom of having 4 days to myself in this current system.
