u/SenseThin1938 4h ago
It’s the newest ai trend
1
u/Ombortron 3h ago
But why tho
5
u/SenseThin1938 3h ago
Probably because it gets a reaction, like every other piece of shit ai generated “media” created.

Sorry mate I'm just in a mood and I thought why not troll a lil?? I'm not a fan of AI either but this is funny imo.
Anyway carry on. Hate. Hate. Hate.

Yeah my bad bro I found out this morning that a woman I have been talking to exclusively has a boyfriend and I'm a lil bit pissed off still. Probably shouldn't be on Reddit but you know how that goes -___- lol

Bs headline btw, this video is old, around the time the 5090 first dropped so it was not 12k, it was the lowest retail price they've had. Pretty sure under 3k. Also OP are you lonely? This is a lovely surprise from a lover, do you not have any friends or a partner to share gifts with? Giving gifts during a wedding is the most mundane shit ever. You can't be surprised by it.
1
u/Moar_Cuddles_Please 56m ago
Is it possible that it’s a cultural tradition to give bride and groom gifts publicly at their wedding?

12k for a 5090??
Her supplier must be wringing his hands with glee every time he sees her coming.
3
u/DugspiUno 1h ago
I wonder if that's just the price in yuan? Nvidia markets the 5090 at $2k USD, which is ~$13k CNY
2
1
u/MAGA_EXTREAMO 3h ago
Gpus are expensive in china but not $12k expensive.
1
u/that_dutch_dude 3h ago
she still had to pay like half a yearly wage for that thing at the bare minimum.
2
0
u/Setting-Conscious 2h ago
It’s not half a wage is she is rich
1
u/that_dutch_dude 2h ago
im talking average wage. even if you are rich its a lot of money.
1
u/Less-Regret8262 33m ago
Even if you are rich that’s allot? Huh,, Sure to you i guess
1
u/that_dutch_dude 32m ago
rich people get rich by not spending money. the richer someone is the more frugal and cheap they become.
1
u/Less-Regret8262 31m ago
Ya rich people don’t spend money ok,, 🫥if you are rich and wanted this it’s nothing
1
u/that_dutch_dude 23m ago
if they were rich he would already have a card and not appreciate it like this guy seems to. nor would it be a litteral weddign gift.
1
u/accents_ranis 3h ago
Well, they'll be extinct soon so the value will probably increase.

1
u/Fit-Preparation-7515 3h ago
Another post I saw yesterday said 9k. Another mentioned a different price again. So I guess everyone just keeps changing the price.

What is this actually good for, like they say gaming, but wouldn’t a PS5 show the same graphics? Unless you can mint some bitcoin with this I just don’t see the value? I’m prob being igorant I know but what is the value of this..
2
u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 3h ago
It’s a flagship card for gaming. It was anyway. The 90 series is the upper end of enthusiasts pc building, and it was pretty much what you wanted for the best graphics performance. But now they’re basically cards for ai companies, and that’s who is taking them all to the point the series is probably done being made for the gaming market. But some people still want that level of performance for their gaming or work computers, but again, ai companies are hoarding them, so buying one cost wayyyyyyy more than it used to because there’s just not that many and supply and demand is doing its thing.
1
u/accents_ranis 3h ago
AI companies are not using 5090s. Nvidia makes special chips for that segment.
3
u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 3h ago
Wrong. Ai companies and data centers are buying them literaly by the pallet
1
u/Reformed_Liberal 3h ago
Source?
1
u/Mikic0077 3h ago edited 2h ago
You have it on Google and in every search engine, with every ai as well. That's the source. It's also common knowledge at that point.
Especially ai startups and smaller companies are using consumer designed gpus...
0
u/Reformed_Liberal 2h ago
The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. Not a difficult concept to understand. For most people at least.
3
u/Mikic0077 2h ago
Not needed for common knowledge. Basically every day we are bombarded with this news.
3
2
u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 2h ago
This isn’t fucking law lmao. This is Reddit. The burden of proof is a legal statute. Not a fucking Reddit thing. Go find your own info. More reliable like that anyway.
2
u/BugsyM 2h ago
The person that was making the claim was the person insinuating that companies are not buying 5090's for AI. It's widely known in the community that the scarcity of these cards is driven by companies purchasing them for AI.
You're "debunking" a widely understood issue, by just saying "nuh uh, prove it". Even more obnoxiously, it's obviously easily googleable and you're just being dense.

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 3h ago
Plenty of articles you can find with 10 seconds of research to find one that you’ll approve of. Giving sources to people who ask for sources is just the fastest way to hit your head against a wall, if you really wanted a source you’d find one in the time this comment took.
2
u/No_Gur_5912 3h ago
my boy said a ps5 is equivalent to a 5090.
look up the gpu equivalent for ps5’s power lol
4
u/n1Cat 4h ago
Oh god no. My 4070ti super can display at native 4k for most titles around 60 fps. With dlss its double fps.
GPUs used to bar FARRRRR superior to consoles. They still are but the shift has been using AI shit to increase fps.
There is a huge difference between my ps5 and my pc.
0
u/officeja 3h ago
But can human eyes detect that double of fps? And meme guy I will read your comment too. Like I said, I’m maybe ignorant. Also, what if the ps6 came out? And would this graphics card be outdated soon, or is this like the best for a while? I’m excited to look up what this graphics card does now, I wasn’t hating on it just saying I don’t know much about it….
1
u/Strong-Chemistry-396 3h ago
Yes. Human eye can easily tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps. Pretty easy to see the difference between 60 and 120 fps on most titles as well. After 120 it gets harder to notice.
My monitor displays 160 fps and I lock my GPS to 159 in Nvidia control. Compare that to the same game at 60 and it's a huge difference. Not to mention graphics look better on PC too. Often what you see on console is medium settings on PC. Sometimes it's low settings.
1
1
u/Party-Coach-4100 3h ago
Yes the game is silky smooth and the controls feel like an extension of your body
1
u/n1Cat 3h ago
When I bought skyrim on pc, i stood on a little bridge and made circles with the mouse. 59 fps looks nasty compared to 60. Super easy to detect.
Its a case of ignorance is bliss. I cant afford top of the line so I make adjustments here and there.
PS6 will probably be weaker than what I have tbh. So a 5090 will shit all over it. Consoles use tricks to up framerate. They say 4k resolution but use checkerboard techniques that look terrible compared to native.
GPUs are doing somewhat similar shit but just have more horsepower to fake it.
2
u/Meme-Botto9001 4h ago edited 3h ago
You are ignorant but just to point. It is the actual best consumer grade GPU on the market (while the next gen is already on the way) and a high end PC can play very high demanding new games at maximum resolution without any issues. All console games are tuned down and optimized to the “old” hardware. The PS5 is like 3 GPU Generations behind and is also a stripped down version not the high end model.
The problem is, that first the miner and now the AI companies are buying up the consumer stock hardware for the last 10 years…because the enterprise stuff is just 5 times more expensive and is also at least one year behind a consumer release.
1
u/Strong-Chemistry-396 3h ago
No. Every time a console player sees the same game on my PC they are blown away.
1
u/officeja 3h ago
Damn I’m so curious now, I wasn’t thinking about getting back into gaming with a PS5, but might look at pc options
1
u/Intelligent-Box-3798 1h ago
Consoles are just easier and cheaper, that’s the main tradeoff
PC is 1000% better until you get some random computer error and it takes you weeks of troubleshooting to figure out what the problem is

That was an incredibly sweet gesture on his wife's part. She knew him well enough to know how much this would mean to him. There is 0 cringe here.
2
u/Chunky_Snarflblargh 4h ago
This is pure evil... You don't give someone a 5090 when they'll be stuck at a wedding for the rest of the day. I would cry too.
(PS, I wish them both long an happy lives!)

Super high powered gaming computer.

it’s a graphics card not a computer
3
u/LastCookie3448 1h ago
It’s a processor, no?
2
u/Its_NEX123 1h ago
a graphics processor, not the same as the cpu which is like the brain of the computer, the gpu is the thing that does heavy graphical rendering, like 3D objects.

I mean if bro is that emotional about it, this seems like a win. Kinda wholesome really.

u/Ryan2932 4h ago
That is a true full-blooded gamer to come to tears over something like that. Congratulations?

I'll say let the guy be happy, he got a wife (which apparently supports his hobby) and a brand new graphics card on the same day.

This man just won at life. What about this is cringe? A wife who shows support for her man's hobbies is awesome. Would you feel the same way about this if she gifted him a really expensive golf club or compound bow? If so maybe you need to take a look at your biases and why you hold the kinds of judgments that you do.

unless he is making money with that, what a waste of money for something that will be outdated in 5 years.

u/Alone_Emu_7713 50m ago
5 years? You're part of the problem thinking this and what ends up wasting a shit ton of money. A 3090 is 6 years old now but can handle any AAA game at ultra settings as long as your not throwing ray tracing at it

u/Own_Guarantee_8130 4h ago
The way some of you loser ass men on here think this is great while he’s celebrating a material gift more than his actual bride on their wedding day. That’s what makes it cringe you dorks.
2
u/War_United 3h ago
You see a 30 second video and assume he doesn't celebrate his wife too? Reddit is so fucking negative lol
1
u/Meowmeow181 3h ago
You’re missing the big picture. This is the happiest day of his life made even happier by getting a thoughtful gift from his new wife. He may have cried at other points in the day.
175
u/BungleBums 3h ago
Idk man
His new wife got him a massively expensive piece of hardware for something she obviously sees is tremendously important to him, on the most emotionally important day of their lives so far
I'd say not having a visibly emotional reaction would be the most cringe possible thing on the planet. Woman really loves the fuck outta him and she spent $12k just to show it while in the middle of marrying him. Dude won at life, anyone laughing is salty af,
