12k for a 5090??

Her supplier must be wringing his hands with glee every time he sees her coming.

u/DugspiUno 6h ago

I wonder if that's just the price in yuan? Nvidia markets the 5090 at $2k USD, which is ~$13k CNY

1

u/elinamebro 6h ago

Lmao good fucking lucky getting on for that price they go from 4k to 12k now

1

u/MAGA_EXTREAMO 8h ago

Gpus are expensive in china but not $12k expensive.

1

u/that_dutch_dude 8h ago

she still had to pay like half a yearly wage for that thing at the bare minimum.

3

u/MAGA_EXTREAMO 8h ago

Well what else would she spend it on makeup and shampoo?

2

u/mrdanky69 28m ago

Tampons and maxi pads.

u/Setting-Conscious 7h ago

It’s not half a wage is she is rich

-1

u/that_dutch_dude 7h ago

im talking average wage. even if you are rich its a lot of money.

1

u/Less-Regret8262 5h ago

Even if you are rich that’s allot? Huh,, Sure to you i guess

0

u/that_dutch_dude 5h ago

rich people get rich by not spending money. the richer someone is the more frugal and cheap they become.

2

u/Less-Regret8262 5h ago

Ya rich people don’t spend money ok,, 🫥if you are rich and wanted this it’s nothing

1

u/that_dutch_dude 5h ago

if they were rich he would already have a card and not appreciate it like this guy seems to. nor would it be a litteral weddign gift.

1

u/Less-Regret8262 4h ago

Lol you are special

1

u/readyReddit007 1h ago

That’s a stereotype. They certainly spend a lot of money, they just make a lot more and often come from wealth.

1

u/MAGA_EXTREAMO 18m ago

Why would someone want to be average that is so pathetic.

1

u/accents_ranis 8h ago

Well, they'll be extinct soon so the value will probably increase.

2

u/-maffu- 6h ago

The Chinese? Did I miss a newsflash?

1

u/SmootherWorm 5h ago

Yep, the value of having a Chinese will be to the moon!!!

1

u/accents_ranis 5h ago

At least you made me chuckle.

1

u/Meme-Botto9001 8h ago

That’s bullshit and the video is from release time around early 2025

1

u/Fit-Preparation-7515 8h ago

Another post I saw yesterday said 9k. Another mentioned a different price again. So I guess everyone just keeps changing the price.

1

u/elinamebro 6h ago

It depends on the brand you get they all have custom modifications and clocking

1

u/Thesoop85 4h ago

And it's all pretty close to pointless beyond the chipset. The performance difference between the cheapest 5090 you can buy and the most expensive is going to be a couple percentage points.

The difference of going from 5080 to 5090 is going to be relatively small compared to cost. The difference between a "cheap" 5090 and an expensive one is going to be fractions of that already relatively small increase. And at a FAR greater price difference.

Her family owns the company

What is this actually good for, like they say gaming, but wouldn’t a PS5 show the same graphics? Unless you can mint some bitcoin with this I just don’t see the value? I’m prob being igorant I know but what is the value of this..

2

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 8h ago

It’s a flagship card for gaming. It was anyway. The 90 series is the upper end of enthusiasts pc building, and it was pretty much what you wanted for the best graphics performance. But now they’re basically cards for ai companies, and that’s who is taking them all to the point the series is probably done being made for the gaming market. But some people still want that level of performance for their gaming or work computers, but again, ai companies are hoarding them, so buying one cost wayyyyyyy more than it used to because there’s just not that many and supply and demand is doing its thing.

1

u/accents_ranis 8h ago

AI companies are not using 5090s. Nvidia makes special chips for that segment.

3

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 8h ago

Wrong. Ai companies and data centers are buying them literaly by the pallet

Source?

1

u/Mikic0077 7h ago edited 7h ago

You have it on Google and in every search engine, with every ai as well. That's the source. It's also common knowledge at that point.

Especially ai startups and smaller companies are using consumer designed gpus...

-2

u/Reformed_Liberal 7h ago

The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. Not a difficult concept to understand. For most people at least.

3

u/Mikic0077 7h ago

Not needed for common knowledge. Basically every day we are bombarded with this news.

3

u/Pandorumz 7h ago

"burden of proof"? Is this the supreme court? What a wetwipe lmao.

2

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 7h ago

This isn’t fucking law lmao. This is Reddit. The burden of proof is a legal statute. Not a fucking Reddit thing. Go find your own info. More reliable like that anyway.

2

u/BugsyM 7h ago

The person that was making the claim was the person insinuating that companies are not buying 5090's for AI. It's widely known in the community that the scarcity of these cards is driven by companies purchasing them for AI.

You're "debunking" a widely understood issue, by just saying "nuh uh, prove it". Even more obnoxiously, it's obviously easily googleable and you're just being dense.

The source you shared literally says that the photos are AI and not real lmao

Plenty of articles you can find with 10 seconds of research to find one that you’ll approve of. Giving sources to people who ask for sources is just the fastest way to hit your head against a wall, if you really wanted a source you’d find one in the time this comment took.

my boy said a ps5 is equivalent to a 5090.

look up the gpu equivalent for ps5’s power lol

3

u/n1Cat 9h ago

Oh god no. My 4070ti super can display at native 4k for most titles around 60 fps. With dlss its double fps.

GPUs used to bar FARRRRR superior to consoles. They still are but the shift has been using AI shit to increase fps.

There is a huge difference between my ps5 and my pc.

0

u/officeja 8h ago

But can human eyes detect that double of fps? And meme guy I will read your comment too. Like I said, I’m maybe ignorant. Also, what if the ps6 came out? And would this graphics card be outdated soon, or is this like the best for a while? I’m excited to look up what this graphics card does now, I wasn’t hating on it just saying I don’t know much about it….

1

u/Strong-Chemistry-396 8h ago

Yes. Human eye can easily tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps. Pretty easy to see the difference between 60 and 120 fps on most titles as well. After 120 it gets harder to notice.

My monitor displays 160 fps and I lock my GPS to 159 in Nvidia control. Compare that to the same game at 60 and it's a huge difference. Not to mention graphics look better on PC too. Often what you see on console is medium settings on PC. Sometimes it's low settings.

1

u/officeja 8h ago

TIL, thanks!

1

u/Party-Coach-4100 8h ago

Yes the game is silky smooth and the controls feel like an extension of your body

1

u/n1Cat 8h ago

When I bought skyrim on pc, i stood on a little bridge and made circles with the mouse. 59 fps looks nasty compared to 60. Super easy to detect.

Its a case of ignorance is bliss. I cant afford top of the line so I make adjustments here and there.

PS6 will probably be weaker than what I have tbh. So a 5090 will shit all over it. Consoles use tricks to up framerate. They say 4k resolution but use checkerboard techniques that look terrible compared to native.

GPUs are doing somewhat similar shit but just have more horsepower to fake it.

2

u/Meme-Botto9001 8h ago edited 8h ago

You are ignorant but just to point. It is the actual best consumer grade GPU on the market (while the next gen is already on the way) and a high end PC can play very high demanding new games at maximum resolution without any issues. All console games are tuned down and optimized to the “old” hardware. The PS5 is like 3 GPU Generations behind and is also a stripped down version not the high end model.

The problem is, that first the miner and now the AI companies are buying up the consumer stock hardware for the last 10 years…because the enterprise stuff is just 5 times more expensive and is also at least one year behind a consumer release.

1

u/Strong-Chemistry-396 8h ago

No. Every time a console player sees the same game on my PC they are blown away.

1

u/officeja 8h ago

Damn I’m so curious now, I wasn’t thinking about getting back into gaming with a PS5, but might look at pc options

1

u/Intelligent-Box-3798 6h ago

Consoles are just easier and cheaper, that’s the main tradeoff

PC is 1000% better until you get some random computer error and it takes you weeks of troubleshooting to figure out what the problem is
